  1. First time I ever saw one would have been around 1975 in the window of the British Gas showroom in Edinburgh. Actually, there was a music shop - McLarens(?) - on the upper floor and they must have had an arrangement to display some stock in the street-level window. The Ripper had a cherryburst finish and I can remember the body looked huge compared to, say, a Fender. It lasted two weeks in there until one night the window got done in and the bass stolen.
  2. Is that the Peavey Quad 4 he's playing?
  3. Aye, but that burst is severe. It reminds me of those Winfield guitars I used to see in Woolie's as a kid. And I thought they were shite.
  4. Aahhh, what a doofus. I only saw the partial description on the ebay app. My bad. There are two others in amongst all that bric-a-brac. The centre laminates seem well made but the hardware looks like its just been eyeballed.
  5. Initially, it was the ramp that caught my eye. But then I looked further and thought this might be a Squier VM with a reshaped headstock. Don't think it's that either as the black in the 'burst is too severe and looks more like the kit one sees on AliExpress. Anyone know of this builder? Custom Build
  6. Someone's had a go at their Ma's old kitchen table. Love the seemingly random placement of the mono-rails and the G is still well off! And the A string isn't even in its nut slot! As for the fret-job.....🤨 Bass
  7. Barts are way too dark for a Jazz IMO.
  8. This clip epitomises JF for me: wild, funky, rocky. And Will Lee looks totally out of place up there. Chillis on Letterman
  9. I followed the ones on MyLes Paul. Hankie J got some fkn stick! Did you read the Joe Bonamassa melt-down?
  10. I would 'phone them up and politely tell them you've changed your mind. You are being used
  11. Do you still have contact deets for this fella? Did the bass look like the OP's? Minus the Kahler and extra switches, of course.
  12. That's where I bought mine in '79. There were a bunch of them, around eight, including two guitars. There was even a B100 that had a 6-band graphic built into it. I paid c£600 for that bass back then, on HP. My first major bass purchase.
  13. Hang on....this seller is also selling what appears to be envelopes addressed to inmates in Scottish prisons. Surely this is illegal?
  14. There was a lot of whacky stuff going on in the '70s with regard to bass experimentation. There was an Edinburgh band back the called Ignatz, and I remember International Musician published an article on a modd that was done to the bassist's Jazz Bass. Four Jazz pickup were installed parallel to the strings and fed into some electronic hardware that provided a true pan of the strings across a stereo field. Sadly, back then, there were no audio samples.
  15. Well, I'm in Scotland. My old B100 was last seen in Edinburgh.
  16. I want my old B100 back Where are you based?
  17. I remember them!! But....I always want this! With an AH250 head. Ended up, wisely, getting two 4 x 10" cabs!
