Oh, come on, man!!

Huge Hands!๐ ๐

I've reported him several times over the years. Wherw is the 'bullying' taking place? I fail to see it?
-
The guy has been listing instruments that he has destroyed on the internet fir the past six years at least. If you're happy with a flipwit to keep doing that, all power to you!
-
Why whine about it? You, by your very comment, come across as a whining schoolchild.

You're not yawning if you're sooking on this thread.....

Nobody is 'picking' on Mark D Phillips. If anyone appears to be 'picking' on Mark D Phillips, it is because he promotes himself as one of that rare cadre of people known as 'we who build guitars', yet he is nothing more than a hack, a bodger who has persisted in spraying his hack-jobs and snake-oil across instrument fora for at least six years. And in that period, Mark D Phillips has learned sweet flip all! Ok, he managed to do some OTT cavity screening and claimed to have invented a coil-split circuit! I will not apologise for ripping MarK D Phillips to shreds, for he deserves every criticism that is levelled against him!

No. I would not insult that tribe or associate them with the schitt that MDP or PCGC floats on the internet.
-
He's doing fretwork now? Surely effing not! Look at the tram-tracks on that fret! It would be worth buying it as a conversation piece, were it not so overpriced! Additionally, if you supersize that image you'll see top of the binding has been filed roughly, and flattened. Why, only MDP knows!

Hyper-cow poop, bordering on slavering.

Yes, this thread needs to be continually populated. The only other site that mentions our intrepid 'luthier' recently was MyLesPaul, and that was three years back. Now here's a prime example of his BS, with him implying that he builds instruments: a 'hand constructed custom by PCGC'. It's anything but! He's been called out on this so many times yet he persists. This following sentence from that listing is rather telling:- 'After the sign-writing I sprayed the head and fretboard several times with matt varnish; I used oil and beeswax for the back of the neck as I like the feel of that finish better' So, no mention of the use of an aftermarket neck, which that neck undoubtedly is. No, just more snake-oil blurb. 'Sign-writing'? Don't give up your day job, as they say, Mark! And leave your poor kids out of it, FFS!

Told a punter to 'get to f...' for the time last night!

Surprised you never said this to him:- -

There used to be a guy in an Edinburgh bar back in the '80s who sat, bare chested like Bon Scott, on the edge of the low stage that bands played on and played air drums all night. He loved it if you were a Heavy Metal band and played along at 100 miles an hour. And if your drummer didn't give him a set of sticks to play along with, woe betide you! -
Yes, I've heard of the 'hang-gliding' accident and the 'thumped by a lorry' claim. Whatever their veracity, it's my opinion that this fella has more than enough faculties and understands exactly what he's doing. Also, there is evidence of power tools in that garage and anyone of diminished responsibility would not be allowed to have them around. This guy knows exactly what he's doing but it's maybe his perception of his 'conversions' that's the focus here: he sees nothing wrong with these conversions/bodges he's punting and that would be fair enough if he just advertised them as the bodges they are and at a price that reflects the magnitude of the bodge(s). Instead, we have the snake-oil sales pitching and the ongoing (although now less frequent than of yore) portrayal of himself as a 'Guitar Builder', the latter claim now being augmented by the child-like application of lettering to the headstocks of guitar necks. I don't wish the man any ill-will or wish to be seen to take the fosters but until he calls a bodge a bodge, quits the sales-flummery and puts some perspective into his own 'work', he roundly deserves to be called out.

Back for a bit. Was looking at the stuff on 7String and TheFretboard earlier on where he'd attracted a bit of attention. Some of his flip-ups from back then I can recall but what's important to note is that these episodes were 5, 6 years ago. The man has not improved, skill-wise, in that period up to today. Other than inventing the coil-split circuit....๐คจ

Ok, am cutting out of here for a while. Today has been, for me, a PCGC overload!
-
....and the scalloping of nuts and saddles - what's all that about?
-
I know. I've been perusing his auctions on and off and am puzzled as to what he's filled the holes in this bridgeplate with! Raisins??

'Nearly new condition, but has had a bump on the back edge with crazing of the glaze but fixed with a hard penetrating bond.'
-
The one with the 'board off (if it ever was) is a different guitar. Another 'Big Hands' guitar.
-
Re the (other) 12-string: 'I didn't damage the finish, that happened en-route from China to Yorkshire and I bought it like that.' Anyone remember this same excuse being punted with that butchered Westone fretless bass he was trying to flog a few years ago? Like the title of this thread states: I wish he'd stop!
-
And a Skullet on the drummer. The dame has watched Transvision Vamp too many times.
-
Wait....what's going on here? There's some butchery been going on. Has he tried to get the 'board off?
