  1. The irony is that they've copied something. Furthermore, some of the guys on RRF aren't happy about it, either.
  2. Funny how the dwarf couldn't have collaborated with Jason Lollar...........
  3. The only instrument JH plays is the hairy, one-string banjo!
  4. Aye. You kidding?⁶ I'd bet that he played better bass than Churchill. JH is still a daftie
  5. Stafford Cripps.....🤯
  6. Pff....not unexpected. The thing to understand about the little man is that the guitar game is a hobby for him. But he will defend that hobby's heritage, certainly since he took the reins. He is litigious, make no mistake. I would never buy another new Rickenbacker again, solely because of John Hall. That aside, there are some signs of change going on at RIC. I'm not going to hold my breath, though.
  7. If only. But he still lurks in the background......like Henry Kissinger, JH won't drop his pet project until his veins pop. That's a fact.
  8. I paid £600 for my s/h Series One Point back in '85. 😧
  9. Ah, ok. I've been viewing all this on the moby and thought it was a new RIC design. Oh well, back to the '50s.....
  10. Well, I'm no fan of those oval Delano pups, either.
  11. It does look like woodworm have been at that headstock!
  12. I personally think those pups looks pants, irrespective of what they sound like. But when it comes to new appointments on the 4000 series, I do like that new bridge/tailpiece on the Ciserno model. Wonder what the 'purists' have to say about that, given that (according to JH) RIC went back to 5 tailpiece screws from 7 because those same purists wailed about the aesthetic of the new design. Probably in old folks' homes now. Bring on the innovation.
  13. I very much doubt he ever will. He was supposed to relinquish the reins to son Ben last year but a megalomaniac like JH can never truly let go.
  14. Was this the one sold at auction a few years back?
  15. Not from certain ones. Maybe the 4003 range but certainly not the 4001.
  16. My 4003S/8 rods were so US that I got Jimmy Moon to replace them with the ones he uses. Neck stabilised and then I sold that Rick.
  17. Good call. An XLR, before the locking Neutrik jack-socket came out. I had a 1/4" on a bass collapse on me during a gig when I was a brat. Wasn't funny with no back-up.....😟
  18. Not one but TWO FODERA in a hock-shop in Edinburgh??
  19. Just popped along and, my oh my! Both 'Reserved'. Never seen that in a hock-shop before. Someone has either thrown a few quid at them then gone to the bank or the shop itself is waiting on provenance that they're not nicked! Pure speculation on my part, of course.
  20. It doesn't look like it's been grain-filled, either.
  21. He modified it - dunno why - but later pix show the jack plug going into the usual socket on the scratchplate.
