  1. Leonine and Godlike. No sure about that Spiderman cape, though....
  2. I'll pass, thanks. Anyone on here do one of those band cruises like Cruise to the Edge? I just couldn't imagine myself signing up for something like that.
  3. As an aside, it's well known that Chris was a hedonist and liked a drink. At an event several years ago, a catering girl who had done a Yes tour told us that Chris' on-stage tipple was a Pint measure (or something akin to it) of brandy and white wine! I can't recall the proportions but another tech and I ordered them at the bar one night. With another, empty glass we experimented with proportions but each time we found the combo undrinkable. Rock on, Chris, you were some machine.
  4. He was my main bass influence when starting out. Loved his tone but never got anywhere near it with any of the Ricks I bought, even the CS. A legend.
  5. As for Sire basses, there is a thread on Talkbass about a similar brand called Swing. They're also in the sub-£400 range, Vietnamese made.
  6. Are you mad? Surely it's the other way about?
  7. Haven't been in gigging band since 2005 and still love buying and playing basses just as much as the instrument first excited me back in the '70s. I get great enjoyment out of them, even if playing for two minutes or an hour dead straight. I do have a bunch of acoustics and electric sixes to balance it all out but, bass?.....can't imagine ever giving it up.
  8. I need a time-specific pickup. Do such things exist?
  9. I could do with some courier references.....
  10. For the first time in a long time I am going to have to post a guitar. Reading of Parcelforce woes and couriers that won't insure musical instruments. Anyone got any pointers??
  11. Would have been nice to see the S/N. Delberthot - did yours have that number??
  12. Well, I'm 90% sure it's not a Jap reissue. Also, way too good condition for a '54, from my perspective.
  13. My granny used to give me some of that - with lemonade in it - as a Christmas treat!
  14. I'll just leave this here.... Life's what you make it.
  15. The Day Before You Came is their masterpiece. Sadly, not much bass guitar action in it. Grew up in my teens with them on the periphery; ended up thinking they were pop pap. Then, one night in the early '90s I was out on the road and spotted one of the truck drivers and a lampie dancing around their cans of Red Stripe to ABBA, as the pretty girls around them danced around their handbags. I had an epiphany and hit the floor like a rocket!!
  16. Really? Chris n Cosey? I always thought that those two on the Force It cover were female. Interesting.
  17. Mate, I'd keep it . They are under-appreciated basses.
  18. IIR, the original stackpot Jazz necks were fuller compared to the slim neck that came later in the '60s, say from '63 onward. Anyone agree?
  19. Big fan of them back in the mid-'70s. It was Schenker that lifted that band for me.
