  1. I have this model in black. I took off the stinky poo tuners and fitted Wilkinson black WJBL200 tuners. I love the feel and build of the instrument and the active circuit is very versatile and quiet. Quality in a low-priced instrument. I plan on turning the bass 'stealth black', replacing all the hardware with black hardware.
  2. I have a set of them on a loaded 'plate back home somewhere. I might be persuaded to sell them. I also have a set of '61-'62 Luxe caps and resistors that have never been fitted.
  3. What's heavy about the ordinary ones? Not being rude, just curious.
  4. When I was young - like, really young - there wasn't the range of strings as we have today. I liked a .090 on the E and a .035 on the G back then and you could go into certain shops and rummage through a wooden box of custom gauges. That was fun.
  5. I don't gig any more and run my basses through a '59 Bassman Ltd. And it sounds boss! But, back in the day, aTrace Rig and a Boss DE200 with a bit of chorus was my sound.
  6. What did you use to rout out the pup covers? Very interesting project!
  7. They have guys at Heathrow ready to spot guitars coming in. That said, I managed to get a '64 Jazz into Manchester and Linc bass into Glasgow, both brought back by holidaying friends.
  8. I knew of a boozer like that back in the '80s, bar the noise and the midden. It lost its license for the frequency of the other descriptions.
  9. I can't get my head around mini-basses. That photo just reminds me of Tufnell with a Chiquita. Each to their own but I need a bit of length on a bass.
  10. It's a 21 fretter and that's why the bridge is forward on a standard heel pocket, Odd one.
  11. I remember going down to London for an audition and went to the BC beforehand. They had several basses from John Entwistle's collection, Warwicks, Statii, etc . Still, lovely place dedicated to bass.
  12. Holy phuq....check the secondary soundhole. And the hack-job on the side of the neck. https://reverb.com/item/11595351-lindo-thumb-style-guitar#&gid=1&pid=1
  13. 'I wanted to make a good gigging guitar hung for long sessions across your shoulder, so I chose a wood that resonates well but doesn't cut your neck off. The guitar head has a popular decal but is like the whole guitar unbranded and is just a PCGC creation that I built the past ....' Here he is, wittering on with the implication that he builds guitars. This is what really irks me about that fella, rather than the tinkering/bodging. He's been called out on this in the past but seems to take no need. The quote was taken from this auction:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Strat-style-in-natural-wood-body-/192693094296?nav=SEARCH
  14. Fuukkk..... Clearly an apprentice of He Who Shall Not Be Named!
  15. Hasn't this one been doing the rounds for years??
  16. For Custom Shop these days read 'Masterbuilt'.
