Neutrik is most likely using lots of GF in the PA = glass fiber in the polyamide. That copy may have a small percentage of glass in it, or not. In the original connector the glass content may be something like 30 - 60 %.

A string may (Simon) rattle (yes, I had to) when it is pressed, and the part between the nut and finger makes some noise against frets. I had one very hard to find rattling: the strap lock washer was slightly loose, because of the thin leather.

It is much easier to coil two or three shorter ones than one very long. This is for long cable lovers: https://www.neutrik.com/en/product/na3jj

I have my amp sideways beside the cab. No issues with airflow.

alusonic alu212 Top Performance It weighs only 19 kg (42 lbs). With Glockenklang Soul amp the system is reasonably lightweight and suits many styles. http://www.alusonic.com/aluminium-cabinetsxl.php

Looks like a doable one, but has to be done from solid brass or steel. Al will break. A broken one is not worth repairing, but would be an excellent model for a machinist.

Blend is definitely different from X-over. If I remember right, Rolls makes a decent priced X-over. IE Divaricator is hard to find. KMA Tyler is pretty big, but a good unit, too.

I tried many OD/fuzz/dist pedals. The thing that helped me in the first phase was to find the right pedal for my main basses (MG Genesis 5, and Vigier Passion 4 with battery powered preamps). This was actually very eye-opening, as my custom fretless 4 (only one pickup, and a step attenuator) didn't like the same pedals. Talk about impedance mismatch or something. It wasn't about signal level. I don't know your sound preference, so I can't help you directly. My travel through all OD/fuzz/dist pedals took a few years. And my bass playing friends were super helpful when they loaned their equipment to my numerous tests. I tried many effects that had good reputation, but many of them produced only lousy and cheapo sound to my ears. (A sidenote: Some compressors were behaving oddly with certain bass electronics, therefore I did a similar comparison with those, too.) When I found some sound pedals (Spruce Effects, Amptweaker), I even added a X-over (IE) to let the low frequency band (<400 Hz) to go through uneffected. Now I can turn the knobs there and back, but the base stays steady. P. S. Envelope has always been the first in line, because it really likes the varying signal of the bass. It hates a comp and a X-over.

EMG numbers come from sizing: 35 is 3.5" wide etc.

1) What's your bass? 2) Have you tried to put the OD/fuzz/dist before any other pedal, including the tuner? Bass-cable-OD-tuner...

Yes! Maria Muldaur sings Midnight at the oasis.

If there's a good amount of headroom, it could be lost in very low frequencies, i.e. to a subwoofer, maybe? 31.5 Hz could be possible.

Hasn't Stan the Man used several comps in series to get some extra sustain? Three? Even more?

1) My first own bass was a 4001. That was also the test bed for different string gauges. 2) A modified Status copy by Washburn was the one which I actually played several hours a day for years, and learned to play something. 3) A Modulus Quantum 5 SPi Custom was the substitute to a Vigier, because that red Passion 5-string was sold when I had saved the money. MG had a super sound, but the string width was too tight. I played it quite a lot, and learned to play a 5, but the bass never became mine. 4) After many years I found a Passion II 4-string and an MG Genesis 5. Both feel like they came from another planet. No need to change anything else than strings. Of course there has been trials. Fender (Sadowsky, Pensa, Lakland, BassStar, Maruscxyz#%#, you name it) has never felt fine. Alembic has that certain vibe in its name, but every instrument has been very tough to play, and far too heavy. Ken Smith, Zon, Wal, Music Man, Steinberger, Kramer/Spector/Warwick... good sounds, but no match. I have always been to light weight and light strings. Therefore double bass has been one complicated instrument. I have never learned to use a bow, and my playing style isn't by the book. But I love the sound, whenever I have the opportunity to use one on stage. It requires very different plucking technique, and the strings feel massive and slow under my fingers. Good for ballads, but any uptempo jazz, and I'm lost.

My travel bass is a J body and an MM Status neck. One EMG DC (dual coil) neck pickup. It may look slightly different, but who cares, it feels good.

I don't have tools to file frets, or change them, but I know someone who has the tools, and the ability. Otherwise most of the tech of a bass is pretty simple.

There's quite a lot of resin residue in the PCBA. You can clean it with spirit. It does no harm to the board, but don't let it reach the pots. If pots are dry/scratchy, use a little bit of Deoxit.

Buy an old 80's hifi amp or receiver (anything from 2x20 W is good enough) and two used small hifi speakers. There's your cheap, quality sound.

SD Curlee was known for neck through bridge design.

The Accountor is small and powerful, but it certainly isn't transparent. A fun unit, though. I tend to forget that some Canadian (?) has advertised here of a dbx copy that can be built to a bass. Very interesting concept! Wait a moment... Here! https://www.jtex.ca/products/okc

Everything @Chienmortbb wrote, was good stuff. Here's my tiny addition. A touring bassist makes easily 100 gigs = 200 dis-/connections yearly to the cab and the amp. If that cable is bent a lot, it means that the strands will be cut = the cable ages and deteriorates. Therefore some extra diameter does not harm. But if the cables are quality and handled decently, their age can be decades.

EWF, Brand New Heavies, Prince, James Brown's I feel good, Daft Punk's Get lucky, why not Spice Girls and Who do you think you are? Check scores from our very productive @tomread, and @ChrisDev.They both have lots of very, very good stuff, go to Theory & technique section.
