Thanks for all the replies all, I guess it will take me a while to find my perfect strings. Silddx, i do like the sound of the black beauties and the la bella's seem very popular amoungst you guys. Littleal can you send me that link please. I've put some pics up, they aren't very good though so appologies for that.
That thunb looks lovely, Here's the link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KEN-SMITH-BURNERS-BB...=item19bb5076e4 These sound absolutly superb on my fretless thumb 6 & seem to stay bright for ever

I used Ken smith nickle round wounds on my fretless thumb 6 & they sound superb with enough attack for a great slap sound, they sound very full & thick for that funky finger style playing too, there's a guy sells them on ebay in the us, fast delivery,no customs charge or anything, i can send you his link if you want? Would love to see a pic of your thumb sixer
I'm wondering why anyone would buy a Warwick. They are design abominations and are barely evolved from trees. Comparing a Warwick to a Wal is like comparing brass to gold
Ahh Dude the're not that bad, but compared to a wal
Well I've got one. And I can assure you it does not play itself!
Compared to my warwicks it feels like it does, the chunky wenge necks on my wicks are a physical work out
Tasty! Very tasty If I had a Wal. I'd give it to you in exchange for your chops.
You're very kind, but i think if you had a wal you'd find it would come with that funky kind of vibe bread into it, they are so easy to play
-
Cheers, i think its the bass more than me though, it almost plays itself

I found out last week that my new 6 string fretless should be finished by september :brow: So having serious wal withdrawl symptoms, i ventured up to my Dads to borrow his 4 string custom & played along to this backing track (I forgot how seriously funky these things sound) This is straght into the desk with no eq added, bridge pickup solo'd & the tone filter around 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XP-DIhMyvwI

I dont do any big shows any more so this is surplus to requirements, I have only used it around three or four times & it performs flawlessly. when i first got it i ab'd it with a cable & i coudn't hear any difference in tone, i only use 6 string basses & from the low B or low A when i tune down, to the top note on the high C string there is absolutely no loss of tone. This system is in brand new condition with the manual £100 + postage here is a link with pics & spec: http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/1528...rument-set.html

Poor little thumb It's just asking to be saved, i'll bet that'll make a beutifull bass once the paint has been stripped & the body's all oiled & waxed. You say it sounds good & most thumbs do,, if you can get the neck sorted you should keep it, maybe see if you can get some kind of payment from the seller to help with bits & pieces. You need to save that thumb Dude
