Things you'll never have GAS for again
spongebob replied to Delberthot's topic in General Discussion
Ditto heavy cabs. I've been using lightweight since the moment I could, and will never go back. In fact, I've just ordered a Markbass 102P 2x10. My own would be - Nickel/stainless steel strings. Having played flats for a couple of years now, the feel and tone of them just don't appeal. Standard scale basses - Having jumped from long-term Rickenbacker owner to (briefly) Fender, playing a SS in between made me make the jump. I'm not a big bloke (careful, now), so the lesser weight and smaller fretboard is just so much more comfortable. Makes me wonder why on earth SS never became the standard. -
I never play NYE. Just too many drunken idiots about in venues, and probably on the road as well. We played last Saturday, and will be back out next....but NYE itself has always been a no-no for me.

Fender Rumble cabs and amps are great and lightweight IMHE. Well priced too. I haven't said this because I'm selling my 1x15 in the marketplace...I'm still running a Rumble 500 head, and if I had more space, would be keeping it! Super range.

Up for grabs is a brand new, and completely unused Roqsolid cover to fit a Barefaced One10. Cover bought in advance of the cab, which I am now not getting. As such, this is now surplus to requirements. Arrived this morning, and unpacked to photograph. There's always a few weeks' wait for these - you can get your hands on this one now. Standard black, with white piping. Only want £30 for this, and I'll post free in the UK. Contact me for overseas. Payment by PayPal - 'gift' please. PM if interested. Thanks for looking ! SB

I'm usually only gigging with my 1x15, on about 1/4! That always cuts through a treat - against our guitarist with a Les Paul through a Blackstar valve 2x12. We're a trio. As I mentioned above, speaking to Alex at Barefaced, he suggested that for my volume and needs, the One10 will replicate what I use now, in a much smaller package. He says that what my 1x15 does, the BF will do the same, maybe better. The PA thing was that if the trio band got, say, an outdoor gig without PA support, how feasible it would be to XLR out for just a little bit more cut. The other, 'new' band is cool, as the bigger gigs always have soundmen and large PA support, so the One10 would simply be used a monitor. No need for more there. If I had to stand on a stage with any more than 200w pumping right behind me, with no IEM or proper control....TBH, I wouldn't want to. I'd join a quieter band! So going ampless with the current PA clearly wouldn't work, but in an emergency situation, using it for little push wouldn't hurt, I guess. But I'm hopeful that wouldn't happen, as my 115 or 112 were always more than fine on their own.

For rock bass, I'd think the first 6 Grand Funk Railroad albums should be on any bass list. Thumping low end really high in the mix (as it should be). Those Terry Knight-produced albums still sound amazing to my ears.

In a worst case scenario, would an XLR from amp head to jack just provide a bit more, ahem, 'umph' if ever needed? This set up is pub gigs only. I'm hoping it'll not be necessary, as the bigger 2018 gigs will have sound crews, so my cab can be run just as a monitor. I pulled the trigger and ordered the One10 the other week...it'll have to do the job, as the change of car is happening in a couple of weeks!

.....bit like me, then! (hides behind sofa....)

Apologies for the tardy response - waiting to get back to see the gear. Here's a photo of the PA head - the speakers I couldn't get a decent shot of....they're pretty average looking Peavey's, no sub. I'm hoping i'll never need to DI out to this, as up to now it's never been an issue. This thing has always looked a bit sci-fi to me!

That's got me excited, as I'm waiting for my One10 to be finished! I'm glad they seem to get a good rep on tone - main reason I bought mine was the fact it's the only cab that'll fit in the boot of my convertible!

Sold Andy a Fender bass cab. Super chap to deal with - instant payment, great communication throughout the whole deal. I'm the first on this thread, but I'm sure they'll be loads to follow. Deal with total confidence! Enjoy with my best wishes, Andy!

Me too. This 1st gen is so much nicer than what they replaced it with. A cool bass IMHO.

The only new release I've enjoyed this year is 'Roll With The Punches' by Van Morrison. Super vibe and playing. Van is still the man. Haven't had a chance to listen to his other new one yet as it's only just come out! Other than that, everything I've discovered has been 'older' stuff. Most recently, the back catalogue of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band....which sadly, sounds better and more vibrant than any other records I've heard in the last 20+ years.

FENDER RUMBLE 112 (1X12) BASS CAB. Due to a change in transport early next year (my choice), I'm changing my rig around. First to be up for grabs is my Fender Rumble 112 cab. These new Rumbles are absolutely fantastic, very powerful, and lightweight too. You can see the detailed specs here - https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-amps/bass-amp-cabs/fender-rumble-112-v3-bass-amp-cabinet The condition of the cab is mint. It is immaculate. It also comes with a custom Roqsolid cover, with gorgeous blue piping. You will not see a better one for sale, it looks like it's just come from the showroom. The cheapest I have seen these for is £286 from GAK - I am looking for only £180, and that includes delivery to your door in the UK. Payment by PayPal 'gift' please, or bank transfer. Please check my feedback - thanks for looking. SB Side-note - my matching Fender Rumble 115 cab - same condition - same colour cover - will be available on here, early late December/early January. I am happy to provide details should any BC'er be interested in a bulk purchase of both - £400 for the pair delivered.

That price is seriously insane!

Thanks for that - will do. Just remembered we're using the practice room PA tonight - but I'll be sure to get our details at Friday's gig. I'm impressed at what Alex at BF said, though - if the One10 does the same as my 1x15, that'll be fine for our band. PA capability would be a bonus, as in the last nearly 6 years, I've not had to use it....yet. Most pubs are happier when we're not playing at ear-splitting volumes (just have to keep telling our guitarist that - he was lugging about a Marshall 4x10!) The 2018 festival band is cool, in the fact that all the gigs have dedicated sound crews, so I'd just need enough power on stage to monitor my bass, as there's stage monitors as well for the band mix.

Thanks Phil. The BF certainly looks a contender....I emailed BF, and they confirmed that the One10 is the equal of a 2x10 or 1x15....so that would fit really well. Just leaves the XLR from the head to PA if needs be..... although as yet with my 1x15 (and previous 2x10), I never needed to. But I think I'd carry the lead as an option.....
