I agree. A trio, IMHO, would be a bit too much like Rush Mk.2. It would be great to see them get to somewhere else musically.....and spot on about venues.

Why Do Some People On BC Seem To Have No Sense Of Humor
spongebob replied to Thunderbird's topic in General Discussion
I think it has changed on here a fair bit, sadly. I joined in 2008. I don't really post a huge amount now, but I do still read daily (and a bit of selling in the MP). I have noticed a more Talkbass-esque trend for posters to jump on opinions or comments at speed, quite often in a confrontational manner. Also (in my experience) less FB being left after sales. Still a great place for the bass community, and things do come in waves. However, there's definitely room for some lightening up out there! -
Rumours out surrounding the next chapter for Geddy and Alex - http://exclaim.ca/mu...lifeson_project Could be interesting.....I'd love to see them doing something else outside of Rush. After all, Geddy's got about 1,000 basses to try out....!
I play bass like a guitar during the solos in my blues band, probably a result of growing up listening to Jack Bruce on the live Cream stuff.
That's great to hear....you are not alone, FD!

I play in an R'n'B trio, and my style of playing has always been quite lead-based (ie I play too much!). In our (blues structured) big finale, I have to take a little solo. I've always been a fan of Noel Redding - ex-guitar player - but his work with Hendrix never fails to impress. Maybe not a bass player in the traditional sense (he is to me, he played a bass), but live, he would play multiple runs and almost solo at the same time as Jimi. Not a 12-bar, but a great example of NR's style, and always a good excuse to post one of the greatest live clips in TV history - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw3UZ_XEkiA

Fender American Standard Jazz Bass - 2012 - Very Rare Colour! SOLD!

Up for grabs is my American Standard Jazz bass, in the very rare shade of Jade Pearl. It's a 2012 model, which means it has the 'Custom Shop' pickups - identifiable, I believe, by the raised pole pieces. I bought this from here a couple of months back - but my new-found love for relics means that I need to make space, and more importantly, pay for the most recent acquisition....! Since purchase, I had a set-up, and re-strung with Fender 9050L flats. This is reflected in the price from the original ad. Also includes two pickguards....read on! Condition is excellent. Just the (very odd) indentation, bit of light use. Comes with the standard hard case as well. It's the better (IMHO) TSA-approved version, before they changed to the current 'vintage' style. It comes with two pickguards. The original, mint green one, and the tort - which I believe looks a lot better! It's all down to taste, so you can have both and choose. The American Standard series is so ubiquitous, I'm sure all here know the specs and how good they are. The new Pro's are around £1500+, so this is a chance to grab a real bargain in a very rare colour. It looks even better in the flesh. A rare example in super condition. Strings less than 2 months old, two pickguards, hardcase, and the cloth! Price-wise, I'm asking £750 for this, postage included in the UK. Europe would be an additional £50. Payment via PayPal gift or bank transfer, and it will be couriered to your door. Please PM if interested, and thanks for looking! Fender Rumbles get my vote. I gig with a 500 head, 1x12 and 1x15, and for home use, have a 40 combo. It makes it easy to get my 'live' tone at home, at practice levels. I've also noticed that the 'vintage' setting on these works far better with Fender basses. Handy as the OP plays a P.

Help required Re Fender MIJ 70's Reissue Precisions
spongebob replied to Deedee's topic in Bass Guitars
Cotswold Bass Guitars has got a SB/Maple version at £575. Looks nice for the P fans! http://www.cotswoldbassguitars.co.uk/for-sale.htm -
I like the look. Given the quality of the premium MIM basses, I think it's about changing perceptions. The old US/MIM battle lines seem to have gone at the upper level. The prices are pretty close too! £900 for a classy relic? Don't care where it's made... it's all about the feel and tone.

I tried a Gibson SG bass last year. Owned it for a few months - it was just kind of, well, okay. The neck dive was ferocious. Never really understood what that meant until I played the SG! Tone was again, okay....it was nothing special on any level. Maybe I was expecting the massive 60's EB3 vibe, which sadly, this bass did not have. Best thing was the neck - played very easily. Worst thing was strapping a 'regular' bass back on - it made it feel like I was playing an upright around my neck!

Must be...I've gigged mine for a couple of years, and it's still a corker.

Gator GPE-TSA is what I bought for my - now sold -4001. Many generic cases won't fit a Ricky, and it took some research and questioning (on 'that' forum) to get the right one. It's not a perfect fit (slight bit of movement, nothing to worry about), and I believe it's the one to go for. My 4001 may have gone, but I kept my case as it's a great product!

Purchased this week, my Neotech Mega Strap. Condition is A1+. Only a bit of small creasing to the leather (if you can call it that) from where I attached it to my bass for about 2 minutes! Pics shown. Reason for selling is simple - I bought it to match my other Neotech strap. Ordered it in small, same as the other one. Didn't realise they've changed their sizes - and once I'd put it on the bass, I couldn't very well return it - so that's why! The size of the strap is - 32"-37" (86.4-94cm) - measurements from the Bass Direct site, where I bought it from. Cost me £38 all in - only want [s]£25, posted free in the UK. [/s]NOW £20! These things are so comfy. Excellent straps. Payment by PayPal 'gift' please. PM for more! Thanks for looking, SB

I know a guy who was playing away....I met him after this, but I can't say I blame the actions below.... Wife walked out on him, due to his infidelity...but a short time later let herself back in to the house to grab his newly purchased Gibson Les Paul, a white custom shop. His dream guitar. Needless to say, she took it and apprantly pretty much have it away, on purpose. Wife 1, cheating husband, 0.

Motörhead - Covers album imminent
spongebob replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
Can't wait for this. I tried listening to 'Clean Your Clock' again this morning, but haven't been able to get through it; makes me sad to hear his voice on this album as it sounds feeble and a shadow of its former self.
I'm the same on this. I love the 'Head, but I'm not sure sure why they issued that live album. Especially as the track listing was nothing new. I appreciate it was near the end, so significant, but.... The covers album looks good, and a few I wasn't aware of on there too. Anything new from MH is always welcome! -

Mono GS1 Strap SOLD
spongebob posted a topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
Up for grabs is my Mono strap. It's the 'short' variant - 40" - 46", It's the Duraweave, I think it's Ash or Smoke in colour....light grey, essentially! It's used but good condition, as the photos demonstrate. Only reason for selling, is that I've become a convert to even wider straps! Price is £20, UK postage included. Payment via PayPal 'gift' please, PM for more details. Thanks for looking! I've always been known as a player who sticks a lot of notes and fills in. Guess I'm influenced by 'busy' players. It's a style of playing I like, and it's also become my thing too. I bring my sound and style to the table. Many players are great at a stripped-down feel - I'm not one of them. A player told me once that I played more notes in a song than he did in an entire gig! When our drummer once said to me, 'less is more', I simply told him that he was wrong. More is more!

That's a very cool shade!
