1. Pulled the trigger on a Maruszczyk PES50 in 'Antique'. All the shades look good, and I was thinking that a Road Worn strap might actually suit my Flea Jazz bass....!
2. We're an R'n'B band. We purposely avoid classic rock covers....although we have knocked out 'Can't Get Enough' when requested. Now that's classic, classic rock!
3.
FWIW neither of mine have this affliction...
Hopefully a one-off. Can I ask which colour/s you have, WoT? They all look pretty tempting!
4.
They're fantastically comfortable. However, as I found out last week, a black one in combination with a sweaty day and my favourite white Hendrix t-shirt is a poor mix. Comfy yes, colourfast no!
Although this isn't so good.....!
5. Thanks guys, they do sound like what I need. I love my Neotech - but it's too bouncy with the weighty Ricky, and the Mono isn't enough. These sound just the job - it's the extra padding and weight spreading I need the most.
6. Interesting stuff....but I do love my padding....!
7. Best wishes, Norm is a true living legend!
8. Has anyone tried one of these? http://bassdirect.co...Ass_straps.html I'm after the most padded strap I can get (within reason). Already have a Mono, and a Neotech - both work on my other basses, but my old Ricky is a bit of a boat anchor, and very tough on long gigs and rehearsals. Saw these, and thought they look of good quality, especially given in how high regard their instruments are. Ideas?
9. We play it occasionally, and I've always opted for the former. We're a trio, and so it would show if me and the guitarist were playing different things! He's a long-term Bowie fan as well. Hope this clears things up - a bit!
10. I think the Flea and Geddy Lee basses are amazing instruments, regardless how you feel about the artists themselves.
11. I'm after a cheap-ish hard case for a J-bass. I've got a couple of other decent cases (genuine SKB Fender+Gator TSA), so this is only really for home storage, and maybe the odd ride out in the back seat of the car! Ideally, I'd be after a used genuine Fender one, but failing that, saw this - http://www.gear4musi...7feoaAqir8P8HAQ Not sure if it's just a lot of rubbish, and it's better stored in the gig bag? Any other ideas/thoughts/suggestions? I should add....or these? Bought direct from these guys some years back..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hard-Bass-Guitar-Case-for-Fender-Precision-Bass-/162566027716?hash=item25d9b0b9c4:g:uf4AAOSwl8NVVe6q
12. In our R'n'B trio, we've have recently thrown in '500 Miles' by The Proclaimers! It goes down really well - we play in our genre-style, I in fact really like doing it.
13. I think their albums have got better. Thought the last one, 'Sonic Highways' was my fave yet. Either way, there's something for everybody.
14. I wouldn't say over playing....just his style. It's something I've often been accessed of (although my fills aren't in the league of JB's!)
15. I like Chic, enjoyed their set. Also loved the bass playing. I like 'in your face' players, and Jerry's got it all. Awesome. Couldn't stop listening to him. Would have liked something from the post '79 Chic albums, though....very small gripe!
16.
I enjoyed watching their set. Thought the TV coverage was a bit 'the Dave & Taylor' show mind. (well, apart from the accordion solo! Lol)
The cameraman did seem obsessed with D&T no doubt. If I were Nate I'd feel a little bit ignored! At least he could be heard ....
17.
I noticed more Rics this year
Who was using them? I'll check them out!
18. Watching the FF set on the iPlayer now. I like them....and it proves that in 2017 a great rock band can still really bring it. They're showing how poor so many other acts are in comparison. Funny DG mentioned Ted Nugent....he seems to have become his late 70s double! Loving the set.
19. ....just watching his full set now. Mind-blowing. What a fantastic artist. Band is just superb. Such a change from the norm I've seen so far, with every rhythm section doing the same old.
20. Thundercat's skeleton trousers - reminicent of The Ox's outfit....think it was the 1970 Isle Of Wight? ...plus his usual 6-string Ibanez!
21. Elbow man was sporting a Mustang bass on the brief bit I saw. Didn't get the chance to get any further detail, other than it sounded really good.
22. Sold Jim a strap. Transaction was completed in record time - money sent quicker than I could mark 'sold' on the thread! Superb east to deal with. A credit to BC without doubt.
23. Adjustable between 100 to 148cm. Based on web, and my own measurements!
