1.
It still amazes me that they can hear how great the likes of Gregory Porter and Rag n Bone Man are but booked Roy wood and Chaka Khan who were both awful (from a totally objective point of view based on how they sound now, not based on the past glories!).
+1. I too though RW's vocals were very iffy indeed on 'See My Baby Jive'. Chaka too. Full marks for the (I think) original key, but it's a modern symptom of acts carrying on like they did 40+ years ago. It pains me to say it, but play by all means, but pass on the vocals. This applies to numerous acts! Geddy's vocals came in for serious criticism over the last 10 (+?) years on Rush tours. Macca too. These guys can still play to perfection, but vocally?
2. Hacker T Dog for me!
3.
Not sure what you mean....
I couldn't breathe watching the clip!
4. What about Chaka Khan? The outfit - it certainly 'gained your attention' if you know what I mean!
5. Gorgeous. One bass I never got around to owing is a Stingray. Can't think why, they look (and sound) amazing. Enjoy!
6. Give Rickenbacker a break - they've only been making and spraying basses for over half a century....! Even as a fan and player, their QC has long been a major problem in my book. I had a fair few 'iffy' 4003's - and they never sounded as I wanted, either. Sole 4001 owner now. Best Ric, and bass, I'll ever have. Neck sticky-ness not a problem, as due to missing paint, it's had a lovely refin!
7. UB40? Which one?!
8. Am I right that he's using a pick in many of the performances? A bit hard to tell. Great player, great band. I was taken to see them aged 11 - and even at that age, they were superb. Big RIP to their drummer Mickey - amazing drummer who died a couple of years ago. Played with them from the beginning until he retired in 2009. I was just starting drumming when I saw them, and he was important in me seeing how a professional fits in.
9. I love Fender flats, best strings I've ever had by a mile.
10. PS4! I've even put it in the cupboard and I'm not going to open it until the 25th...even though I've already paid for it!
11. Shame it's gone - can't say I ever bought any of their publications, although I do read the website daily. I think it is a music press thing in general. I bought the odd Metal Hammer in the 80s as a teen, but in the 90s it was NME, MM, Select, Vox....loads to choose from and buy regularly. One by one they vanished, and I stopped buying the NME in about 2003 as it became, well, a joke if I'm honest. I then became a Q reader and subscriber until earlier this year. Again, the content was becoming more and more forgettable - every issue was a '20 years since....' piece, of which many I remember first time around, and had no desire to read about again! Subscription stopped, and as a lifelong music mag reader, I now only buy Total BMW magazine. I think that sums it up!
12. True! ....and can I also add (Sheena's In Love With) Joey Ramoney by Helen Love! In fact, a whole load of HL tracks reference The Ramones, and other bands as well.
13. 'I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone' by Sleater-Kinney.
14.
This thread has led me to Spotifying Sandinista! which I'd never heard before. I kind of expected to not be into it from what I've read. Bloody excellent! It's the first album I've played for a while that my wife actually likes as well

Glad to hear you both like it. All the Albums are great, except the very last one
It's a classic - can't imagine it being made today. 6 sides....agreed, not every track is 100% essential, but I love the way how it flows as a body of work. Superb sounding album, as well. My fave Clash album.
15. Please do. Need all the audience we can get, LOL!
16.
who do you play with Spongebob?
I'm with The Howlin' Wolves....been 5 years next year!
17. Sad to hear about Martin. I met him a while back at The Six Bells in Woodchurch where we we're playing. Actually came across to introduce himself between sets, and had a bit of a chat as our singer knew him a little as well. He was ill, but in incredible spirit - in fact, we remarked afterwards how strong he was, compared to how we would be given such a diagnosis. A sad loss indeed.
18. It's good....but I've always preferred 'Sandanista' myself. I know the NWR played on 'The Magnificent Seven' on the album.
19. Deep Purple when the great Tommy Bolin was a member, 'Come Taste The Band' has always been an album I adore. Miles Davis with Dave Holland. Mahavishnu Orchestra. That's me all out!
20.
I'm a staunch Fender fan but this "upgrade" is poor in my opinion. Plus, why get rid of the tortoiseshell on the white and sunburst models?

Yep stupid, looks like the old Méx version now on the 3tsb.
+10000! Those white pickguards simply cheapen the look.....why, oh why would they put those on, and up the price? I think the Olive is nice, though.
21.
I think the only way to get that colour now is the Pino. Over 13 times the price you paid for your Squier!
Wonder if it's 13 times as good?!
22. Jeez, I bought a red CV P-bass new in December 2010 - it was around £280! Lovely bass, should have kept it. Remember it had a very nice feel, and I actually gigged it a few weeks after buying it. Super colour (especially with the tort) - should be available as a part of the new American Pro series!
23.
Hey, I have a name you know!
Brilliant!
24. Having lived with vinyl and then CD's, I'll be sticking with a quality bluetooth speaker, tablet, and Google Play subscription. Personally, I'm not nostalgic for vinyl at all. Months/years spent in grimy record fairs looking for 'that' album - now it's there in it's entirety at the click of a mouse. Search takes as long as it takes me to type it. ....and I don't have to haggle with some strange-smelling bloke with a unkempt beard to get it, either!
