1. Great advice guys. So the Vertigo...quite steep at £150....any alternatives?
2. Having changed the car, I'm having to go on a bit of a size reduction on gear! I've always used hardcases for years, never considered anything else. However, I could get my bass behind the seats if it was in something thinner...hence my curiosity was tweaked by the Mono M80 bag. How strong are these? Are they a viable alternative with good enough protection for my bass? Noticed the do a Vertigo at £50 more.... Thoughts please guys...or a trailer!😃
3. Would a 1x12 be another option? Used to run the 115 with the 2x10 combo.
4. Trouble is, car space...I may need the biggest bang per buck to sit alongside the 115!
5. I'm looking to send a bass - when sold - but I'm out of bass packing material! Any tips what to use/where to try? I've always had an excess of cardboard before, bought and used the old box! This time...and last...I'm totally out!
6. I'm in the process of building my 1st rig, getting away from 20 years of combos. Space is a serious transportation issue - so small is important. Now running a Fender Rumble 500 head, 115 (15") cab. If I did need more in the future - not sure I will, as it's very powerful - but if I did, would a small 10" cab help? Eden make the EX110 for example. Great size-wise, but is it a viable option for more grunt if necessary? Re grunt, ie more power!😉
7. I'm going to withdraw this one. No interest, and so I've got other plans for it now. Have to sell something else instead!
8. Welcome! West coaster here - raised in the UK, but born in, and am regularly back, in Mayo. C'mon the Green and Red!
9. I only score three with our band. They're not really representative of what we do, but I guess getting booked means we always have to include some pleasers. Reckon I've done about 13 of those with other bands....as a setlist.....I think I'd run a mile! (Though Black Night is still a corker in my book)
10. I once bought a cheap Fender guitar practice amp from Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze. (I had no idea who he was, until I was leaving and saw the flight case with his name all over it). Funny thing is, he'd been telling me about 'playing over the weekend', etc, and I had just assumed he was a regular guy playing part-time!
11.
Just what I'm after ! But you're too far away
That's a shame bump!
12. Jeff purchased a couple of sets of flats from me, as I moved back to rounds! Super chap to deal with, instant payment, great comms.....can I say super again?!
13. Up for grabs is my Fender Rumble 115 (1x15") cab. I bought it new last year - but I never use it, as my combo is enough for my needs, so could use the funds elsewhere. As a result, it is immaculate. Also comes with a custom-made Roqsolid cover (also mint). I will also throw in a speakon cable, Fender, so you can get using straight away! This is a collection-only item - I am based in New Romney, Kent - near Ashford, so very easy to get to! These retail at nearly £300 new - so I'm asking £195, collected, including the cover and the cable. This is a great saving, as you'll be getting, essentially, a pretty much new cab with all the extras (which were around £55). Please PM for more details - thanks for looking! SB
14. Lifelong pick player here. Did start with fingers, never really liked the tone. Guess a mixture of that, and influence of players I admire(d) pushed me towards the pick. For me it's tone, agility/speed, and attack - I have tried fingers over the years, but TBH, I think I sound really bad when I try it. After years of playing, I guess I have developed my style, so it's what I bring to the table in any band. Most players I see always seem to use fingers, so that's another reason to stick to the pick!
15. FENDER 9050L FLATS - 0.45 - .100 I'm changing my string preference, so thought I'd let these go. We have a brand new, unopened, set, and another set that is used, but only for the last month (on and off). These retail at over £20, so how's about £18.00 for the 2 sets, free P+P? Payment by Paypal, marked as gift. I have sold plenty on here before, so please buy with confidence. PM away!
16.
Cool, you're gonna love it
Got it yesterday, seems to be very nice indeed! 2 gig weekend starts tomorrow, so it should be nicely worn in by Monday. I've still my other Mono on my other bass - I'm going to see how this goes, and if I prefer it, may well Marketplace the Mono, and get a matching pair.
17.
I really like my DSL strap. 2.5" wide, leather, padded, was about £35 on eBay EDIT: this one - http://www.dslstraps...ent-blackblack/
I've just ordered one of these, Ms. Undead - all thanks to your sound advice!
18. I've used the 'short' Mono comfort straps for a while, find the okay, despite them always losing position! At last night's gig, I noticed it was splitting on the strap button end. It survived the gig, but it's for the bin today. Looking for a new one, I noticed they now sell the 'Doolittle' - anybody tried one? Also, any good alternatives to the Mono? I experimented a few years ago with a different design, and it was, quite frankly, a disaster! Where to from here?
19. Bit of fun we always do it. We're only a trio, so it's not too drawn out. Quick intro (always tongue in cheek), followed by a short solo. Audience love it, I don't mind it, and it's always good to hear the drummer giving it some!
20. I've just been learning 'I Want You Back' for a band - never realised there was so much going on in there, it's amazing. About a thousand great ideas in a 3-minute pop song. It's a cliché, but they don't make them like that any more.
21. So many to choose from - so I'll add 'Instant Replay' by Dan Hartman, and the entire first two albums by Mcfadden and Whitehead - classics.
22. Both my basses are YOB instruments - how's about that for showing off!!
