1. Why do I always have really bad GAS for an SG bass? I've never played short scale, or a Gibbo, but I seriously love the look of those. Doesn't mention a hardcase? Maybe it's seeing some footage of Andy Fraser from Free years back....sure he played one?
2.
Definitely have a go on a Ric before taking the plunge... they are VERY different in both tone and playability to pretty much everything else.
This ^^^^^ I love my Rics, and for me they are the bass. 4001 for me rather than the '03. However, I have lost count of the times I've read on bass forums about players buying one, and selling it soon after because of....well, you name it. Tone, feel, ergonomics.... I personally find them exceptionally comfortable. However, if you're used to Fender-style contours and curving, proceed with caution! I've owned a good number over my playing span. Some good, some exceptional, some less so. Never a bad one, just some less....QC'd than others! Good luck with the journey. Love it or hate it, why not try it?
3. Still available bump. C'mon you Fender amp owners, you need this in your life!
4. The only bass I actually have GAS for is the JC sig bass. Love JC, love the bass!
5. Neither for me, Ricky player all day long. I have tried to be a 'normal' player, and did spend some time last year with a P. It is indeed a fine bass, just not for me. With this in mind, I vote P. It is, after all, the definition of bass guitar for so many.
6. Roqsolid cover purchased for my Fender Rumble 40 combo. Even though it's my practice amp, I thought I may take it out, so bought the matching cover. However, it never leaves the house, and the cover lives in the wardrobe! As a result, I have an as-new and totally unused Roqsolid cover (black, orange edges) to fit a current, V3 Fender Rumble 40 combo. Only want £20 for this, and I'll post it included. Payment by Paypal 'gift' please, plenty of feedback on here, so you can hopefully see I'm a trusted seller. PM for interest, thanks for looking! SB BTW - cab not included!
7. Got the TGI Extreme through today. Well done Bassgear, great service from these guys. It's a lovely bit of kit, exactly what I was after. Fits the bass well, very padded and protective too. Glad I posted the thread before blowing £100 on a Mono - the TGI is just the product I imagined and wanted. Fits in the gap I wanted it to like a dream! (Speech..) I'd like to thank Bassgear, Basschat, TGI, etc, etc.....!
8. Interesting stuff here! My dilemma was that I don't use PT, and only carry the bass from car and into the venue. Always used HC out of habit. However, I can squeeze my rig in the car if I use a gig bag, and it's lighter to carry as well. Taking a HC with TSA approved locks is a bit extreme for a 10 second walk, I've discovered!
9. Car is actually quite big, just a small boot! Must admit, I put my love of cars on a par, on this case, above playing bass. I've got for a 112 - found a way of safely squeezing it in!
10. Just puller the trigger on the TGI from Bassgear - £37, free postage, and a free tuner!
11. Cool! I've just read about the TGI extreme which seems OK. Don't know how it would compare to the Mono, it's a lot cheaper!
12. Great advice guys. So the Vertigo...quite steep at £150....any alternatives?
13. Having changed the car, I'm having to go on a bit of a size reduction on gear! I've always used hardcases for years, never considered anything else. However, I could get my bass behind the seats if it was in something thinner...hence my curiosity was tweaked by the Mono M80 bag. How strong are these? Are they a viable alternative with good enough protection for my bass? Noticed the do a Vertigo at £50 more.... Thoughts please guys...or a trailer!😃
14. Would a 1x12 be another option? Used to run the 115 with the 2x10 combo.
15. Trouble is, car space...I may need the biggest bang per buck to sit alongside the 115!
16. I'm looking to send a bass - when sold - but I'm out of bass packing material! Any tips what to use/where to try? I've always had an excess of cardboard before, bought and used the old box! This time...and last...I'm totally out!
17. I'm in the process of building my 1st rig, getting away from 20 years of combos. Space is a serious transportation issue - so small is important. Now running a Fender Rumble 500 head, 115 (15") cab. If I did need more in the future - not sure I will, as it's very powerful - but if I did, would a small 10" cab help? Eden make the EX110 for example. Great size-wise, but is it a viable option for more grunt if necessary? Re grunt, ie more power!😉
18. I'm going to withdraw this one. No interest, and so I've got other plans for it now. Have to sell something else instead!
19. Welcome! West coaster here - raised in the UK, but born in, and am regularly back, in Mayo. C'mon the Green and Red!
20. I only score three with our band. They're not really representative of what we do, but I guess getting booked means we always have to include some pleasers. Reckon I've done about 13 of those with other bands....as a setlist.....I think I'd run a mile! (Though Black Night is still a corker in my book)
21. Sunday bump - as new cab, with cover and cable, ready to go!
22. I once bought a cheap Fender guitar practice amp from Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze. (I had no idea who he was, until I was leaving and saw the flight case with his name all over it). Funny thing is, he'd been telling me about 'playing over the weekend', etc, and I had just assumed he was a regular guy playing part-time!
23.
Just what I'm after ! But you're too far away
That's a shame bump!
24. Jeff purchased a couple of sets of flats from me, as I moved back to rounds! Super chap to deal with, instant payment, great comms.....can I say super again?!
