I've owned a couple of USA 'Rays, and I'd call them both slim for me. One went, still got the other....sold the 2006, kept thr 2010, and I'd say the neck widths were pretty identical.

Bit stuck here! My Ricky 4003......pups have been replaced. Nordstrand in the neck, Bartolini at the bridge. Sounds great, no complaints there. However, I noticed some weeks ago at a gig, that intermittently, I'd get a weird distorted tone....few seconds, then it clears. I can play different strings in that few seconds when it's doing it, and it will affect all of them. Then it goes. I'd describe it like a battery failing in an active bass. I've used different cabs, cables, but even using my practice amp now, I swear it's just done it again! Any thoughts? Could it be that the pickups don't match or something like that? Never had the problem before, and from memory, it's coincided with the changes...... All advice very welcome!

I also had a Traveler a few years back…..the mew ones definitely sound better and fuller IMHO.

I didn't....I read that the Pure was a more modern, hi fi sound....that was enough for me. Even though I gig mainly with a modded Ricky 4003, I like a bit treble and cutting through, so the description kind of summed up what I like.

My USA Stingray. I love it, but it spends most of its time at home for practice. I'd love gig it more, but the band consensus is that my Ricky (modded) is number 1....so less love for my MM. I do, on occasion, defy everyone and gig it. Plus any dep gigs, I have and would reach for it straight away.

I bought the Pure as well. Gigged it last night with full band, and it was amazing. No 'lesser' than my older 2x12.....really clear and projecting. Large space as well, I certainly wasn't left wanting.

Haven't got one of the combos, but I have got a new MB58R 2z10, the 4ohm 400w variant. The weight is unbelievable. Debuting it tonight - it sounded awesome in the house! It's got a sticker that says 'Marcus Miller Approved' - I use a Little Marcus 58R - so it's got to be amazing, right? LOL!

I've used MB since 2009. Bar a few months with Fender, I've always stuck to the black and yellow. Always loved the tone and portability.....I've just ordered a new 2x10 cab that's barely 10kg. Due to eye ops, the lighter the better for me. I guess I'm a bit of a fan boy!

Excuse my stupidity…..so I could get Designacable, for example, to make a cable, 2 pole one end and 4 pole the other? That would be ok?

I've posted this in A&C...apologies if in the wrong forum. Simple question....can I have a Speakon Cable with a 2 pole end, and 4 pole at the other? Only ask, as my Markbass amp needs 2 pole, and my backup, older MB cab, will only work either a 4 pole. It won't connect properly to the two unless I wiggle and hold it in!
