Didn't Hooky play a Shaftesbury in Joy Division? From what know, the Shaftesbury's were on a par with the Ibanez/Cimar/CMI/etc copies, as Bassassin says. If it's in good overall nick and you can afford it, get it.
Hooky played a Hondo copy in JD. He has said himself how bad it was!

I've always thought that 'Relayer' is perhaps their best album, a route I kind of wish they'd persevered with, alongside Patrick Moraz. 'TGOD' is almost certainly my favourite Chris Squire moment. Sheer class throughout.

I used to have a Fender guitar practice amp that I bought from Glenn Tilbrook out of Squeeze. Even tried it out in his house before buying!

We keep losing drummers at an alarming rate - always through work/personal stuff - we've been very unlucky. Have just recruited our latest one, ironically through the ad for the previous one. I had luckily kept the details of an interested party who had missed the boat by about a day when we found the last guy. Turns out he is was still free and interested (it's only been about 6 weeks!), and hey presto, we have a new drummer!

Quite envious of the BC'ers that saw the Mk.3 line-up. I do like me a bit of DP - always had Ian Paice of the most under-rated drummers around. Never have seen them - although too young (and not actually born!) until '74....so missed out in the sense I would have loved to have seen them '72-76. 'Come Taste The Band' is a masterpiece in my book! I've always thought what a rare master-stroke the band underwent when the developed into Mk.3 - how many other bands could lose 2 key members, and then put out one of their strongest (it's probably my fave) albums? Glenn Hughes on his Fireglo Ricky? Immortal!

Just sold Sid some D'addario strings. Superb to deal with - great comms and instantaneous payment! Enjoy with my best wishes, and hope we deal again soon.

Loads of ticket stubs from pretty much every band I've seen. (Another) Jim Marshall autograph - this one's on a poster. Met him at a Marshall evening in 1992....he was very gracious and had time for everybody. Did have a signed EP by Bis (if you don't know, you're better off in the dark!) - which I sold on Ebay to a guy in South Africa!

My '74 Ricky 4001, and Fender Rumble 500 amp. Means I'll have enough power to jam if a band eventually gets stranded with me. Where do I plug in? -
I have recently changed my string preference, so no longer need this pack! Double pack (2 full sets) of D'addario EXL165's. 45-105 Nickel wound. Totally brand new and unopened. All I require is £20, and for that I'll post them as well! Payment via Paypal please, marked as 'gift'. Please check my Feedback, I have sold a good few items before on BC, so satisfaction is guaranteed! Please PM if interested. Thanks for looking! Iain (SB)
When was this? See them last year at Glasters and they were awesome.... Full band RnB type set up.... had the whole crowd in their hands
I saw DLS in 2003, Kentish Town Forum, Loved them since the start, but not a great gig. The whole thing was inaudible, I couldn't spot a single thing they played...ended up with a massive crowd onstage...throbbing bass was all you could make out. Shame, as I love DLS - full band gig would have been awesome. Roll on any new material....I think..?
If you're a music streaming service user (I'm a Google Play subscriber) R40 is on it today. No gig tomorrow night, so I'm-a-gonna-have-me some Rush!
There must be a problem re the release date, as it's been pulled from the site. Bummer, as I was just about to start listening to it!

Very nice. I've never ever played a proper Stingray. Must rectify that at some point.

....and I should add Kenickie - mid/late 90s band with the now famous TV person Lauren Laverne. I'll admit - I was a fan, and love the singles they'd put out so far - this was late '96, before any album had come out. They were dreadful. I remember watching them thinking - how can they be this poor? It was more like a front-room rehearsal. Very bad. I wrote a damning review of the gig and venue in the Student newspaper (circulation 10.000!), and soon heard that owner of said venue wanted to kill me. The pen was clearly not mightier than the sword, as I was shitting myself whenever I went past. Lesson learned!

I saw Ozzy in around '88 - stumbling, mumbling, and all his lyrics taped to the stage to remind him who, and where he was! From memory, it was just before he tried to strangle Sharon - so he must have been in a, ahem, 'bad way' at the time. Do remember Zakk Wylde being pretty hot on the guitar, though.

Amazon UK lists the DVD as 'unavailable', but the US variant shows a release date of 27/11. Wonder when it'll hit the UK? I'll certainly be getting my sweaty palms on one as soon as!

Looks good - Fender logos were better in the '70s IMHO.

I suppose it's more money for Jeff Lynne's hair (and beard) dye fund! I think I'm alone in the BC universe, as ELO always seriously grind my gears. I'd even jump to the radio to turn them off! Very well played and executed though - I can see the appeal without doubt.

Just saw this trending on Twitter - I am shocked, and saddened. Perhaps the only band I started with as a 13 year old, and still adore today as much. I read sometime back that he was not in the best of health, and had returned to the UK after some years living in America. RIP Philthy - a true one of a kind.
Iain, i have a Geddy usa , they sound like Geddy's bass they really do, that sound just oozes from them, i love it, it is my number 1 now.
Sounds like a great bass George - one that's definitely on my future shopping list. For me, Geddy's Jazz bass is the Jazz tone, bar none.

Last time I played in Hastings - in a previous band - it ended with our Female guitarist threatening to throw a table through the pub window, after the owner decided (after we'd finished and packed away) that we should have gone on for longer, and as such didn't warrant the full and agreed fee. However, following the six-stringers' intervention, we got paid!
