1.
He's moving to Kent and we are based in London. I realise there are quite a few connections going out, however travel is painfully slow in London. Things are still up in the air at the moment, so when things die down we will have a chat about whether changing practice locations would help.
I too feel your pain. We've had 5 drummers in 3 years. All left for work/personal reasons - none wanted to leave, but circumstances took over. Our one before last, I was actually very down when he quit - a great guy, and a good drummer too. Our 'current' sticksman left a couple of weeks back, no notice period. Great. We've covered the gigs, and we're currently seeking a new drummer. If yerman's moving to Kent, and needs a band....send him in our direction, LOL!
2. Welcome Pete, greeting from the Kentish coast!
3. I'm not really a Weller fan (passing interest) or of The Jam, but I applaud his stance of not reforming his past. Rightly or wrongly, he's determined to not stand still. He does his own thing, regardless. Takes risks, sounds totally different from how he did 30 years ago. Isn't that something to be relished in this age of playing it safe? I certainly think so.
4. I no longer own my Markbass gear, but I had a NY 121 and amp (can't recall the model right now) 121P...? Anyway, a big +1 on Roqsolid. I had covers for both of the above, and they proved to be superb. So good, that when I bought my Fender Rumble rig a few months back, I went straight back to Roqsolid and bought covers for those too. I'd even say the quality is even better now than a few years back, and they were cracking then!
5. Final price drop to £850, free shipping within the UK.
6. I've bought a few Gator hard cases over the past few years from Thomann - at various times they were around £120 over here in the UK, but only about £65 from them. Even with the postage charge, it was great. Over 100/150-ish, and it's free postage. Win-win!
7. That's the one, Plunger! Another obvious Mono strap malfunction - it probably started off as high as Mark King earlier in the gig.....
8. Just at a gig and checking BC. Thought I'd misread this - I'm devastated. Totally shocking, what a huge loss. I'm about to gig my Ricky 4003S - a bass I wouldn't even have in my hands if it weren't for Chris.
9.
I've got one and I found putting a rubber band there acts as a stopper.
Nice one! I've got a gig this afternoon, so I'll give that a try. It's a real design fault - I've had both the short and long versions, and they've all done it. When the long one did I, I used to end up like that guy from Metallica with it around my knees....!

Looks awesome, love it!
11. The whole set is up on YouTube now - watched it there myself yesterday!
12.
Man ace of spades was painfully slow
Any man that can play it that well after 35 years, and at 69.... I've seen the whole set, and I thought they were great. Loved it. I'm watching the other acts, and to me, they're still the best thing I've seen. That's what made me play bass in the first place, and what makes me want to play a Ric in anger now.
13. I've got the short one....but with my basses, the longest position it slips into is just a fraction too much!
14. I love my Mono GS1 strap, but whenever I'm gigging and playing for a long period, it always slips. What is mean is I set it to my own playing position, length wise, but it always slips back to it's longest length, so I constantly have to take the bass off and reset it the right length! Is there a way of locking these into a preferred position/length?
15. I fully intend to see the 'head again. Loose, ramshackle, I call it rock and roll! Considering what's he's been through, I think Lem is doing pretty good for 69. He'll do it until he drops....probably a long time after most of us!
16. I remember when Wilko was on the Jools Hootenanny last year, and there was a similar thread. Some saw it as a tuneless, uncontrolled racket...Whilst others welcomed a real raw spirit in comparison to the other acts on the show. I'm just catching up on a bit of the Florence set now - a stage filled with multitude of instruments and backing vocalists..... Nice white P-bass though! Give the raw racket anytime....and I've not mentioned Lem's Ricke......oops!
17.
Not classic Motorhead...but I still liked it. Sorry
Me too! Warts 'n' all.
18. BBC4 8.30pm. It was originally scheduled at 9.30 on my guide, but it's now 8.30. Apparently they're on a little bit earlier - for an hour I believe - not sure if we're get a running 1/2 hour, or highlights. Just hope the iPlayer will show the full set.
19.
Saw them quite a few times . The last couple of times ( Wembley arena & Hyde park) , they were pretty dreadful. Never thought I'd ever say that. Hyde park last year, started brilliantly with some old classics. The new stuff was ropey to say the least. Lemmy was very frail then . Having said that, they'll,probably play a blinder at glastonbury.
Hope so. I was a bit put off by the Wembley gig - just the size and scale of the place. I always think the 'head should be up close and very personal!
20. We are The Howlin' Wolves, a 3-piece power-trio playing R'n'B in the classic Dr. Feelgood vein. I am obviously the bassist! Our repertoire is a mixture of covers and our own originals, with us having released 2 EP's over the last 2 years. We've been gigging since 2012, and have dates booked throughout the rest of this year, and plan to continue into the next. Our (ex) drummer has left us in the lurch, departing with zero notice. We have some deps lined up, but obviously need a permanent member ASAP! Based in Kent, we gig over the South East. You can see us/hear us at - www.reverbnation.com/thehowlinwolveskent PM me here for more details if interested. Thanks for reading! SB
21. Good man! I saw them in '88 (twice), and again in '89. I really want to go again, but they never seem to do much of a UK tour anymore. Maybe this year......
22.
Sounds excellent on the you tube link, very nice indeed. GLWTS

Agree, once of the nicest recorded Precision tones I`ve heard in a long time.
Thanks for the kind words chaps, appreciated. At the risk of derailing my own thread, the P is the pure tone - Fender amp and cab mic'd. At this rate I'm still tempted to keep this, but I'll leave it for a little longer....and then it's likely to stay at chez Spongebob!
23. Just a heads up that BBC4 will be showing Motorhead at Glastonbury this Friday night. To be followed by the excellent 'Lemmy - The Movie'. Well done the Beeb for showing something decent from Glastonbury. I always record all the coverage, but this is the first time there's a band I want to see!
