Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the first sign of madness apparently...welcome to the mad house!
Nurse! The screens!
Thanks Loz other comments seemed to indicate that, can't seem to find anywhere nearby to try one out so would be buying blind so to speak, guess i'm just after some reassurance, although at the price you can't really lose out Cheers steve
I bought mine 'blind' as well - and can only re-enforce my previous posts....these are as good as many have said. You can't go wrong. Just don't get it from GAK, as you might end up with the broken one I returned....and somebody had clearly returned before me!

What is it about GAS that you move on gear for perfectly valid reasons at one time, only to sometime later wish you had it back/another one? It took me a good few Jazz basses to come to the conclusion that I don't like them very much. I felt like Charlie Brown where he keeps going to kick the football, and Lucy moved it every time...but he keeps going back, because this time he'll get it! ....and the cycle starts again!

Link says not available in my location! It's not on Youtube yet....hopefully somebody will upload there.

I just stuck some rounds on my P-bass, hit the vintage and bright settings on the Fender Rumble amp, and it sounded just like JJ!

Markbass Rig - 121P & New York 121 Cab ...SOLD.

Due to the arrival of a new combo, I have decided to sell on my Markbass rig. What I have is the 121P combo (or the Mini CMD 121P for the full title) and the matching New York 121 cab. This set-up will give you 500w of pure lightweight power. I'm sure if you have got this far, you will be well aware of how light these are. The combo is around 15kg, the cab about 13kg. You can use combo the on it's own, or plug in the cab for extra boom! I have owned these for around 4 years now. I have used them at rehearsals and gigs, but the condition is A1. There are no rips or tears, dents or dings. Used, but immaculate. My gear is always very well looked after. Both come with custom fitted Roqsolid covers. I had them stitched with the yellow surround, so the colours match the Markbass logo! Ideally, I'd like to sell these as a pair, with the buyer collecting. Plug in your bass and truly see and experience what you're getting. Only reason for selling is the acquisition of another combo, and I don't have the need for both. My pricing is based on the combo - £450, and cab - £250 - or you can have the pair for only £600. I'll even throw in an OBBM Speakon cable with the pair. That has got to be worth a trip - such a rig new would set you back around nearly £1000, without the custom covers or cable. Please note that Markbass products are now made in Indonesia. These are not - they are the original, genuine, made in Italy. I am based in New Romney, Kent. Cash on collection. Please PM for more details, and thanks for looking!

I had my streaming service on shuffle, and got a nice surprise when this came on. https://www.youtube....h?v=kscXG8ro6hQ I used to quite like the band's David Byron-era records, and must admit to seeing them live in about 1991. Good gig, but by that point they'd become an awful AOR band IMHO. Lost touch after that, and hadn't actually heard them for about 20 years! Nice bass on this track, though - appears to be a bit of dispute as to who's playing on it as there's 2 versions doing the rounds. Cool thick tone, and in the mix like a bass should be. Enjoy!

My apologies to you Mark - I'll write to your bank manager!!
-
Not sure! There is a contour switch as well, that works as a scoop (probably for slap, etc.?). I used to make sure that my Markbass filters were off as they all zapped the tone IMHO - whereas this vintage option actually increases power and presence.
-
Must admit, I was amazed. 1/4 on the volume was plenty, with bags and bags on power left in the tank. Years ago this thing would have weighed about 3 tons! I think it's the vintage switch which is the big winner here. As soon as it's engaged, the tone goes from normal tone to wow! It's supposed to emulate an old vintage valve amp, and the difference is huge - I've left mine in permanently - gives it the edge over any other solid state combo I've tried before...The presence it gives just fills the room.
-
Just got home after my first gig with the Rumble. In a word, awesome. It was a loud gig, but I cut through with bags of presence. Volume only on a quarter. I can't see myself needing a cab with this, it's huge, unbelievably so. I think I can call this a success. Thanks to all for their great advice on this!

Moved from vinyl to CD, then to MP3, and then to steaming a year ago. Have sold all equipment and items along the way. Now I have a Geneva Bluetooh speaker (their stuff is awesome, superb sound), and I use Deezer Premium, £9.99 a month. Used to have Google Play, but Deezer has the biggest library of all the sites. Do I regret it? Never. It's the best thing ever - imagine this 20 years ago! I had no emotional attachment to any format beforehand, no misty eyes here. Having such an unlimited library at your disposal really is music fan heaven for me. .....and get well soon Ray, all the best!

I think this is the matching cab? I think it's either just out, or coming soon - http://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-rumble-210-cabinet-v3/111426?gclid=CjwKEAiA05unBRCymrGilanF9SwSJACqDFRm2ZTFSnZvmFC0ksnQg3CnZOQ8lkgpoAUhoJ1rNjAeohoCq9zw_wcB

Used it last night's practice. First impressions - like! Had it on about 1/4 volume, same as my old Markbass rig. The whole thing just seemed 'bigger' - most solid state amps I've played through always seem a little clean, lacking presence. Volume, yes, presence, no. The thing that does it is the vintage switch. Playing a US P-bas through it, the general band mix came across as really full. Tomorrow's gig is a medium-sized pub, always get a good sound there - so a good test for the Rumble! Also, a big +1 for Gear4music - the lead came through this morning - I rang them yesterday at around 2PM when the amp arrived! Great service.
That's more like it Lot's of rumbling going on then, we support Dr Feel good on Saturday and my Rumble will get the nod.
Excellent! We do a mix of covers/originals, all classic R'n'B as well. The covers are mainly Dr. Feelgood, funnily enough!

Got the 2nd amp of the week today, this time from Gear4Music. Great news is that it doesn't appear to have any of the problems of the last one. Got band rehearsal tonight, so a good chance to crank it up and see how it performs. Bad news was that it arrived without a UK power lead, only a European one. Quick call to G4M, and they apologised and said they'd get one out to me ASAP. Luck seems to be against me this week! Have a gig on Saturday, so with that and the rehearsal, I'll post some thoughts back on the amp's performance. First impressions, it looks great!

One gone back - ordered another one from Gear4music. They had 8 in stock, so I'm praying this one will actually work......
-
That sucks. I'd also guess they sent you out a return or it was badly handled during transportation. I feel somewhat guilty for pushing them so much. I had kind of the same thing with a TC combo I bought, I had to send 2 back before I got a keeper and still have it, been fine for around 5 years now.
I've used GAK before, and had great service - so I was/am a bit miffed. Funny how you order new kit, look forward to plugging in, only to be hit with a wall of disappointment when you realise that 'my old one doesn't do that'! There are other places that have them at the same price - Gear4Music have quite a few listed on their site. Worst still, the other day I ordered a nice new Roqsolid cover for it, as my current covers from them are superb. I've been in touch with them to see if it's too late to cancel - I suppose that's kind of going to sway if I give another amp another go!
-
I rang GAK, they were fine and are collecting tomorrow. No replacement, as (funnily enough) it was the last one in stock. Funny in the sense that although it was a Fender Rumble box, it had clearly been opened beforehand. Maybe it was ex-display or something? Or a previous return? The buzzing and rattling is intense - as soon as you play, it a bag of bones, at even low volumes with very little bass. Either way, I'm now in the dilemma in buying elsewhere or staying as I am! My second equipment disaster this week......
-
Well, that was a disaster! Got the amp this afternoon, and it's going right back. The whole amp rattles and buzzes with even a hint of bass. Maybe it's just mine? It sounds good, but it's obviously a faulty one as my Markbass can be cranked up without any buzzes!
-
Seems to be a pre-order item...must be coming soon!
-
+1, looks the business! Is there another Rumble or Fender which would work as a cab? Just thinking further down the line...or is the only option a different brand?
-
I'm guessing I could always plug in my Markbass extension cab if more volume was required?
-
Good advice. I've never pushed my 2x12 beyond 1/4, so I'm hoping for regular pub type gigs, it should hopefully do the job.
