There's a positive on the sticky, but no more than that. I'm after a well-priced set that won't stick out a mile - and these seem pretty good from the Amazon reviews?

Sorry - should not have linked. Apologies!

Spotify, very very impressed, anyone else use it ?
spongebob replied to tonybassplayer's topic in General Discussion
Don't use Spotify, but Google Play - excellent streaming quality. I went from physical formats and moved to MP3, then to the streaming about a year ago. Good tablet, and a quality Bluetooth speaker (the Geneva stuff is awesome), and you're away. I listen to a lot of stuff I know, and (have) owned, but I love to get into artists and bands that I would have been wary of buying before. For instance, I've been really getting into a lot of James Taylor's albums, and grooving of plenty of old Deep Purple Mk3 live. I sold my physical collections a few years back, and my MP3 hard drives are gathering dust in the drawer. One year on from starting to stream, I'll never go back. It's fabulous! -

Up for sale is my 2014 Fender Jazz Bass, American Standard. Olympic White with Maple neck, and the standard Tort guard. I bought this in the week before Christmas just gone. I've had Jazz basses before, and to be honest I've always struggled with the narrower necks. I saw this in my dream colour combination (it matches my Precision), and was hooked. It plays like a dream, looks and sounds amazing. However, I have to admit defeat for the last time. It's Precision necks for me from now on! The bass is 100% unmarked and as new. All the 'case candy' is new and unopened. The bass, and the hardcase, have not left the house. I will courier it in the same cardboard box it arrived in. Being a 2014 bass, it has the Custom Shop pickups, and the 'vintage' style case. Not sure why the photos have come out sideways! The cheapest new price I can find is £1157. I would like £950 for this fully shipped and insured in the UK - you are basically buying new bass! It has been re-strung with D'addario nickels, 45-105. Over £200 off the price of a new one, for essentially a new one! Europe - we can discuss shipping, and and I am happy to send. Cost will be around £80, again fully insured, or arrange you own if you'd prefer. Payment by Bank Transfer please. Bass is located in New Romney, Kent. Not really looking for trades unless it's a decent/(maybe unusual?) Precision+cash. I love the FSR Antigua, for example. Any questions? PM and I'll be straight back to you. Thanks for looking - SB.

Got to have a bit of a re-think with my settings! Thought I had it right - took it to a gig yesterday....and unplugged it after the first track! All the mids were sucked out, making the bass virtually inaudible.....a P bass! Will try again, maybe at next rehearsal. I think it sounds best to lower the blend as mine was full on. Things can only get better.....!

Just read that Glenn Hughes' latest band, California Breed, have called it a day. http://classicrock.teamrock.com/news/2015-01-16/california-breed-are-no-more I did listen to the album a good few times - thought it started really well, but seemed to be a bit of a mess after that! Glenn is a legend, so let's hope he's back with something a bit more long-term, and (ahem...) consistent soon.

I bought one the same a few months back, and can't fault it. In fact, I've never played a bad US Standard Fender. Something about a white P and tort. Always wanted one myself, and it doesn't disappoint. Quite tempted by the 1 bass thing - did it for a white until the GAS crept back in.....if your going to mono-bass, I think the P is maybe the one to do it. Or the Jazz. Or the.......

Cool - thanks! I think I've managed to fiddle a nice tone from it which seems to work indoors...will be gigging it at the weekend for it's inaugural outing!

Would a bad Keyboard Player make you quit a band ?
spongebob replied to KennysFord's topic in General Discussion
Another bassist gave me some advice years ago - he said 'if you've got a keyboard player, you don't need me'! Having played sometime back with keys, I fully admit I agree with him, and I wouldn't join a band with such an instrument. Maybe it's fine in 'bigger' bands with loads of space and a full-time sound guy - but unless you have that, I'd run a mile! -
After looking at various boxes and the like (for about a year!) I finally bought myself one of these and received it yesterday. Never been one for any frills - but after reading loads online, it became obvious that most bass tones, live and on record, are never that 'natural', and that such boxes are an important part of achieving a good sound. I plugged it in yesterday, and with a Jazz, very easily got a 'Geddy' tone - it sounded immense! Really changes the sound of the bass - gives it so much more life and presence. Haven't stuck in the P yet, but expecting greatness. I'd love to hear about other owners' settings - any suggestions/tips? Also, on my amp, I've set everything at noon, but gone for the 100% blend on the pedal. Left the gain lower - just before the clipping point as normal. Is this correct? Seems like a great purchase so far. And it comes in a tin! Coooool!

I keep meaning to dig into the two 'newer' SD albums they made this century. Head one track from the first one ('Cousin Dupree') and it sounded very good. Even the production sounded great, which I never think modern (ie the last 20 years) records ever do.

Nice purchase - well done!

Big 'Gaucho' fan here too. 2nd on the list? Can I throw in 'Katy Lied'? Big admirer of that one, too.

I've recently become a full-on Fender player. Dabbled before, but really enjoying the brand right now. I suppose I was always worried about being too obvious before, just took me years to realise why so many people play them. Easy to play, easy to adjust. I'm sold!

Brand new and unopened set of GHS Precision Flatwounds, 45-105. I am going back to my old D'addarios, so these are up for grabs. I'll even throw in a second set - only had a few weeks use, so good for (probably) years to come! These are £30-odd new, so how's £25 for the pair, free postage? Payment by Paypal 'gift' please. Any questions or interest, just ask! PS - Apologies for the upside down photo - for some reason, I couldn't edit it the right way!
^ 20th Century ended 15 years ago dude!
I know! I realised that people were using such things in the 20th - so I'm only now catching up with the previous one!

Sold a set of Marcus Miller strings to Martyn. Super guy to deal with - seamless transaction with great comms as well! Deal with 100% confidence - thanks Martyn!

I've just ordered the Sansamp Tech 21 - kind of a late Christmas present for myself! I've been looking on and off at these for a year or so, but been a little disillusioned with my tone of late, feel it would be good to try a new approach. Never done anything like this before, so it's a journey of discovery for me. I also read that most bass tones yo hear live on on record have normally been through some kind of box or other, so maybe I'm just finally joining the 20th century!

Lessons... I need to know what to learn!
spongebob replied to Evil Undead's topic in General Discussion
I've always played by ear. Although everyone tells me that bass is more conventional with pick or fingers......
