Good tip, will start from there. Thanks Highfox!

I used GAK. Same price as most places, and have had great service from them before, so well worth a visit if you're tempted! Maybe I should be negociating a rate of comission on these!

Just pulled the proverbial on one of these bad boys.....! Rehearsal on Thursday, gig on Saturday....opinions to follow!

Thanks chaps, sounds like it would do the job for what I do. If it works out, have the job of selling the old rig. BC classifieds!
-
That makes sense. I never play on above about 1/4 on the amp and cab, so a slight reduction in power shouldn't be an issue, as I've no plans to play an arena any time soon!
-
Do i assume that the MB 500w output is the same as I'd get from the Rumble, even with the 10" against the 12? Please forgive my stupidity, as my interest in amps has normally only gone as far as weight!
-
I could do without dragging the MB amp and cab, as we are a pub band primarily. And I'd like a change! If the 500 is more than enough for that, it would do me. I'd just like confirmation that it's got enough puff to cope!

I've been playing my Markbass rig for a good while now, a 121P and New York cab. Went for them at the time for the weight saving. Been fancying a change, and the new Fender 500 Rumble combo has got my attention. It comes in about 16kg, my Markbass bits are about 15 each. A nice bit lighter! Obviously the Fender is 2x10", against the 2x12" of the MB. From memory, my output from the MB is 500 watts....same as the smaller-speakered Fender? My gigs are mainly pub gigs, in which I've never really turned up the MB above about a 1/4! I did add the cab originally as the amp alone lacked the power. I've read some good stuff about these - what do you guys reckon? Worth a change? I'm sure I'd have no issue selling the MB rig as it's great kit, but I just feel like a change!

Sold my Sansamp Bass Driver to Pete - really smooth transaction - payment was super-swift, and in super-style! Deal with 100% confidence. Please enjoy the pedal with my best wishes Pete!

Strings... nickel/steel. I never realised I was a "steel guy"!

Good thread. I'm totally over the moon with the Fender Flats, 9050ML. Never tried them until recently, and they have blown me away. The feel amazing, so superb, and not too bright - just right to me. I found some Flats to sound way too dead in the wrong environments, but these are just superb. I've tried a few Flats before, but never really bonded - tried GHS, Chromes, etc., and thought that I'd just be sticking back with rounds - until some online searching tweaked my interest in the Fenders. Highly recommended! -
Max Bennett's bass line on Song for Sharon is a masterclass of understated melodic brilliance.
I like his playing on 'Miles Of Aisles' and 'The Hissing...' as well. Love Jaco, but Max's playing suits some of Joni's material equally IMHO. What a choice!

I play in a 3-piece old-skool R'n'B trio. Love what we do and the noise we make, but it's not a genre I really listen to myself. I personally like that fact - there's no doubt similarities in what I listen to....obviously there's a large blues influence in a lot of stuff out there - and I feel that I can take from my direction and add something (hopefully slightly different) to the mix. I like like to think it makes me approach the cover material a little differently. We're doing another EP of originals next month, and one of them is mine (don't run away just yet!). From early comments, I've been told that my composition sounds a bit like the Gang Of Four doing R'n'B....which I suppose brings the point to fruition, coming at things from a different angle.

I agree with Bill. A good lesson for many bands and artists. Will it always work? No - but it's better than the same old same old IMHO. Take some risks!

I've always thought that Raconteurs track also resembled 'Is She Really Going Out With Him?' by Joe Jackson as well! One of the 'steals' I've always cheekily admired - The Fall, and 'Barmy' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwCZu9O-H0M ....and the horn riff from The Monkees 'Valleri' from about 0.53 onwards - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJw0qpqIONQ

Brand new set of D'addario Nickel wound strings, 45-105. Totally boxed, unopened and brand new. I've also got a second set that have had less than an hours playing time, not even broken in - I'll throw those in too. I'd like £13 for the 2, posted to your door, UK only. Good saving on a new double pack at £30! Have a couple of other bits for sale - so please check them out as I'm always up for a 'bundle' deal. Payment by Paypal 'gift' please! Thanks for looking - SB

Here is my Mono GS1 Strap - it's the Ultra Suede one (the best!) in 'long' (119-150 cm). Colour is smoke, a dark grey. It's really good condition, no damage in the slightest. Only a couple of marks on bit where it attaches to the bass as I had a couple of straplocks on there. Only very, very minor cosmetic - nothing else. You'd expect that as it is a used strap. I tried to take a photo, but TBH it's so small it barely shows! Strap is about 6 months old. It's really comfy, but I prefer the shorter one as it's fits my frame a little better. I'd like £25 for this - they cost around £40 new, and I'll throw in delivery as well. UK only. Have a couple of other items for sale, so take a look as I'm always up for a 'bundle' deal. Thanks for looking - SB

Bought this a month ago, as I wanted to primarily thicken up the tone on a Jazz bass, and I'd never tried effects before. Jazz bass now sold, so TBH, I don't need this either. My loss is another BC'ers gain, as I am just a plug and go merchant, so prefer to travel light! The box is as new, only had minutes of use. I'll even throw in the £12 power supply as well. I'd like [s]£140[/s] £135 for it, delivered to your door - UK only. These cost around £200 new (I paid that from GuitarGuitar) and the cord was an extra £12, so that's about £70 off, for what is basically a new one. Payment by Paypal 'gift' or bank transfer please. Check out my feedback to see that I am a genuine seller. Got a couple of other bits for sale as well, so please check them out as I'd do deal on a bundle. Thanks for looking - SB
I have the advantage that fender on a headstock is not something that means anything to me, so I was judging it by its own standards. By its own standards it was better than the american standard precision in the shop, or the aerodyne (which is what I went in to see). I am not a fan of P basses, but this bass is lovely, and also when I was rehearsing with it the other night, I was playing killer (which is the same all the way through), I realised I was staring at the neck, which is absolutely beautiful. £360 for a bass this good compared to 3 times as much for something like that american precision that I rejected? Absolute bargain!
Reading this isn't helping the GAS, LOL!
