1. Had to sadly part with my USA Precision - but happy it's going to a great home with Aidan. Great communication and an excellent chap to deal with. Enjoy with my best wishes - and BC'ers please deal with 100% confidence.
2. Very sad. I first heard the 'So What' pattern through Ronnie's version.
3. I'll be there - love these repeats.
4. Very informative, many thanks - an enjoyable read! I was jamming with some Abba this week. I think the songs are so omnipresent that it's easy to forget how amazing they are. I personally think they represent the best pop ever. I really love 'The Name Of The Game' - there's so many fantastic chord changes in there, so clever. To mention the article - 'Summer Night City' as well -brilliant. In fact, I can't think of such an unbroken run of great pop that incorporates so many styles. Gives a good excuse to post this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ90ZqH0PWI

NoirBass

Just sold Chris a Mono Comfort Strap. Instant payment, great comms - seamless transaction, very highly recommended! Thanks Chris!
6. I preferred the TOTP 1978 Christmas special on BBC4!
7. Mono GS1 strap for sale - the 'long' one (average I find!) It's the Clay Ultra Suede colour. Bought a few months back from Bass Direct for my backup bass, which is now sold pending payment. So I no longer require a spare, it's been barely used. Condition is excellent. As you can see in the pictures, no marks, stains, or any nasties....barely used, and only selling as I don't need two! Price is £25, with free postage. Payment by Paypal please, marked as gift so as to avoid any extra fees. PM if interested - thanks for looking!
8.
It is pre-filmed but not in August, lol. Rehearsals didn't start until 9th December!
I was a bit unsure when I heard it TBH....but when it comes to the BBC, you never know!
9. I Sky +'d it, and flicked through it at great speed this morning. Another Hootenanny, and for me another dreary and predictable line-up. Couple of odd bits, but majority was just same old. Not really a fan of Haim, but agree that the Bassface is somewhat mesmerizing! Though I prefer the main singer TBH.... Heard on the radio this morning that they film it in August. I know it's far from live, but quite amazed - but not surprised -at that if it's true!
10. My Ricky 4003. It's now my only bass, so by default is my no.1!
11. +1 on Yodel. Avoid at all costs in my experience. I always ask which courier a firm uses before buying. If it's City Link or Yodel, I walk. Quite a few places use DPD - totally excellent. I always send using UPS - again, brilliant service.
12. Just sold a set of new D'addarios to Tom. We've dealt before (about 4 years ago now!) and Tom is as excellent and reliable as ever. Instant payment, great comms - deal with 100% confidence - thanks Tom!
13. Now on Ebay, but have done a can't-go-any-lower price drop!
14. Thanks JA - They are great strings and I've used them for about 10 years now - hence I'm having a change!
15. Bought as a spare set a few weeks back - but I've having a brand-change, so am no longer using these! 100% brand new, never opened and still sealed. [s]£13[/s] £12.50 including postage. Paypal please - please mark as gift to avoid any fees! Will post next day. PM for more details!
16. Interesting stuff - many thanks! Lozz - I actually looked at the Zoom last year - looks very good, and not badly priced either. Good call. I suppose I'm just looking for a bit more control and grunt in my sound, I'm sticking a Ric through the Markbass mostly (occasionally P with flats, but I'm EQ'ing more with the Ric in mind).
17. It's taken me a long time to work out those filters!
18. Going to treat myself for Christmas with a decent DVD to relax with following suitable refreshments on the 25th and 26th! I don't really buy many music DVD's - any suggestions for any decent bass-related ones? I suppose I'm looking at the new Rush 'Clockwork Angels' one - got the audio, but went to the tour, so wouldn't mind the DVD. Other than that, maybe something Jaco/fusion related....or maybe something else?
19. I've had my 121P amp and New York cab since 2009. Only issue (so far) was a problem with the tweeter in the cab. Had to have it looked at and repaired when it was just over a year old. I like them - I bought them primarily for the weight. Easy to make a quick getaway LOL! I've never had any negative comments about my tone - and I've played a variety of basses through them, Fenders and Rics. The amp alone is no good at all IMHO - you need the cab in every situation. My only gripe is even the two together can still be a little lifeless and lack presence at times - but they are small and lightweight, so I guess that's the compromise. I've always found the EQ a right PITA - sometimes I've had to work really hard to get a decent tone. My previous amp was a very heavy Trace Elliott - never had the same issue with that, it always sounded massive....which the MB for me never has matched. Would I buy again? Don't know. I'm aware now of more manufacturers making similar equipment, probably cheaper. I'd probably take a drive up to Bass Direct and see what I could find! Hope this helps.
20. I was watching some Youtube stuff about tone, etc., and there was mention about pre-amps (Sansamp Tech 21?) I've been playing for about 20 years, and have never used one! Could somebody please explain what they do, and the point? I play direct into a Markbass 121P amp and New York cab - would a P.A. assist my tone in any way at all? For your average pub/club gigger, is there any benefit? I just assume that I EQ with the amp/head - I can't understand what a pre-amp would do. Sorry for being a dummy here - I'd just like to know more!
21. Interparcel - their standard services use UPS, and every experience I've had with them has been brilliant. You can insure as well, which I never fail to do if selling.
22.
This is a great post with some fantastic info in it. I think this deserves a sticky
+1. Loads of valuable links and info to refer to.
23. +1 great responses, I too am being educated! Do I assume that the yearly fee on say, Tunecore, mean that if you stop paying after the first year (for example), that your releases are removed from sale from the various sites? If this is the case, is a free site like Awal (suggested above) a better bet?
24.
Apparently, Geezer had just aquired that Rickenbacker in a swap deal done that night backstage with Glenn Hughes for a Gibson Thunderbird and decided to do the gig with it.
I read in a book written by a Sabs roadie that their stuff was stuck in customs, and that's why GH lent Geezer the Ric for that show. Like many rock stories, their seems to be multiple variations! I remember reading somewhere where Geezer denied ever using the Ric except for that one gig. I swear he's using a 4001 on parts of 'Never Say Die' - 'Junior's Eyes' for example, and from memory, some of the other songs as well.
