1. I hyper-ventilated at paying £25 for a t-shirt...er....which I then did! But that is very expensive - although very nice.
2. Ad says that Ged used the Jazz for 'Limelight' - but he's on record as saying that he played the Ric on that, but used the Jazz in the video ('Tom Sawyer being the reverse - Jazz on record, Ric in the video).
3. Great info, many thanks. I'll have to check this out further - have to get a gig there....although I think my hands might just stop working if Hamish was watching!
4. Big AWB fan here too. Only really heard them 'properly' in the last 6/7 years - too young first time around! All of the albums were re-issued a few years ago, bought them all. I love the 'space' in the songs - and bass parts. The tracks really breathe - great fun to jam to. Keep meaning to see the current incarnation live to see AG in action. With regards to Hamish, someone was telling me recently about a Kent pub he plays in all the time - for the life of me, I can't remember who told me or where it was.....!
5. Bought this on a a whim yesterday on download. Never really heard much MM before, but the reviews were good, so.... What can I say? What an amazing album. I've not been excited by a bass tone on records for years - but MM sounds sublime. Not just the bass - production is excellent, as it the material. I'm really impressed. Just when I thought that there would never be a good 'new' album again (guess I'm hard to please), then up pops this! If there's anything similar out there, I'd love to hear about it. I did peek at MM's early LP's, but they sounded a bit to 80's with the clangy synths, etc. But if there's similar stuff like this around - please share!
6. Thanks BF. Got a bit distracted - bought 'Renaissance' by Marcus Miller (my first bit of MM, sounds good) and 'Land Of The Midnight Sun' by Al Di Meola, primarily for the track featuring Jaco. Will get around to the AJ albums and maybe 'Procession' next time!
7. Doing some Weather Report-related digging, and found mention of a few solo albums AJ cut in the 70s. Long out of CD print, you can still get a couple on iTunes/Amazon download. Any opinions on these? Thinking about treating myself to one today - maybe alongside WR's 'Procession', my first foray into the post-Jaco years. Thoughts?
8. 'Be neither a borrower nor a lender be' - advice given to me years ago, and something I stick by.
9. Sold my brand new and unused Fender gig-bag to Steve. Excellent to deal with - we even sealed 'the exchange' in the corner of a supermarket car park!
10. When I post recently about Stanley, and where to start with this records, nobody seemed to mention beginning with this.... .....can't think why!
11. Just sold two Jaco CD's to Kev. Great communication, instant payment, and obviously a man of blindingly good taste LOL! Deal with confidence - nice one Kev!
12. Brand new and genuine Fender bass gig bag, totally unused, still with the plastic wrapping. I have no use for this, so it has to go! Collection only please - based in Tenterden, Kent. Only want £10, so come and grab yourself a bargain. Also selling a couple of Jaco CD's here on BC as well if you'd like to take the lot!
13. As a digital user, I bought these on CD to rip, but have no use for the physical discs! CD copy of each - the classic debut, and 'Word Of Mouth'. Good condition - you need these bass albums! I'd like £6.50, and I'll post them for that as well. Payment by Paypal please, or collect if local, and I'd call it a fiver. Please PM if interested!
14. Few Daft Punk tracks - Get Lucky, One More Time, Around The World, Digital Love? Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby Modjo - Lady All I can think of at the mo!
15. Just saw this on the NME site - very sad. To me, their first 3 albums remain awesome. Heard them when I was about 15, and I still love them now. In fact, I was grooving with 'Secret Treaties' the other day. 'Tyranny And Mutation' is never far from my 'top albums' list - so inventive. Still quite like some of the later stuff, always mean to re-purchase on MP3. So many classic tracks. RIP to a genuine legend.
16. Great news - I loved the O2 gig, so it'll be good to see the CA show close up (even it's not the same venue!)
17. Good luck there! Always cool to hear a nice story in this day and age.
18. He should have saved his money and bought a Rickenbacker...... ......er, hang on......!!
19.
I`ve used a pick ever since I started learning. Have only really learned to play with my fingers in the last year or so, but in a band situation I prefer the attack a pick gives. I tend to have a thuddy, warm eq, and also lock in with the drums so the percussive attack of the pick is ideal. I use Dunlop 1.14mm triangular picks (3 for the price of one, makes sense).
Very similar to my situation. I use a pick every gig, just find I can guarantee speed and accuracy when required. Especially in a fast-paced R'n'B band! I use fingerstyle at home most of the time now, just for practice to essentially 'have' the skill. In a different band, I would love to gig with it in the future - however, I always find the tone I get is so muddy, whereas a pick gives clarity and definition. I'm not a heavy player, so it works pretty well. Jim Dunlop 1mm Tortex for me - great pick!
20. I had a 2012, which was sold on. Have now got a 2009, bought used. TBH they sound identical to my bass-blasted lug-holes, like a P-bass!

22. More deeply distressing news - set cut short as Lem couldn't continue....... http://ultimateclassicrock.com/motorhead-cut-concert-short-lemmys-health/ Really hope he's back on form soon.
23. Beat me to it! Saw this on Twitter yesterday - good news. Saying that, I quite like how it sounds - just soooooo different from how we expect Rush to sound. Not trolling - I genuinely enjoy it!
