I think it's a shame how many of the festivals have lost their 'alternative' side. Glastonbury looks to me to be a glorified pop festival, bit like the V festivals. Looking at line-ups of festivals through the 70s and 80s, and when I came up, the 90s, they certainly weren't aimed at the pop crowd....the pop world was a separate entity. My main gripe of many of the acts....pop, rock, folk, whatever, old and new, was that there was such a large factor of dullness. Lacking in edge. I wanted someone to jump out the screen at me! Maybe Nicky Wire had it right...at least he caused a reaction (and a ban at the time as well?) Agree with him or not, but can you imagine anyone daring to say such today? He'd probably earn a corporate cancelling!

Thanks chaps, as I thought. Nice to know for sure! 😁

Did a search, but can't find a definitive answer to this. Ampeg claims 500w - am I right that you need a cab to achieve this, same as the Fender Rumble? Just a thought, or I'm back to Markbass shopping......!

Don't think so.....previous festival coverage, from various channels, doesn't sound like now. Same as many newer records, bass is very low end thump. More probably being felt than heard.

Big +1 on that. Bought a fab Ricky 4004 Laredo from you way back....2009? Another one I should have kept! Glad you're still involved in the bass world.....kind regards to you....Iain

Like to just add to this thread, as many have, by giving Will and Bass Bros a plug. Bought a fab Stingray..... everything 100%, and set-up to my exact description. Great stock, and well worth a look. I'll definitely be going back.

Seen a bit so far....bass-wise, nothing really jumping out at me. Bit like the Isle Of Wight coverage on Sky last weekend, who seemed determined to ape BBC-style Glasto programming. Bass tones on most of the acts were undefined and just, well, bassy. Most of them you couldn't make much out....from what I've seen of Glasto, seems to be similar. Lots of Fender P's and Jazzes, odd Ric....not that the sound told you otherwise!

Looking at the complicated (to me) video, I may just live with the grime! 🤢

Just grabbed a gorgeous '06 Stingray, blaack/maple. Fretboard front is fine, but the back is quite grimy, and discoloured with the dirt. Anything I can use to bring back a bit of cleanliness? Did a search, but got a bit lost....!

I used a 1x15 set-up for quite a while, loved it. Looking at something similar again. Maybe....!

I've just bought a little Laney 15w from Guitar Guitar, £80 new.

I've only sold basses through The Bass Gallery, each time was fantastic, total satisfaction.

Great packing jobs of our time!

I bought a bass of eBay a few years back, and although it had a gig bag, the seller simply wrapped the whole thing in brown paper. Miraculously, it was unscathed! -
Never played anything having touched a drop. I do like a drink, but as I was always driving, I've always operated a zero-tolerance policy when driving, and/or performing.

Got a wanted ad for one. Want one!

Another ex-drummer here. Started at 11, but switched to bass for logistical puposes later on. I'm currently not playing either! What I've never lost, is my drumming ear - it's the rhythm I always focus on. Even playing bass, I would have always decribed my style as percussive - almost like I'm drumming. Always with a pick, lots of ghost notes, all over the place, really! What is the rarest thing ever to find....a great drummer. I've played alongside loads of people masquerading as drummers, whereas I can only think of a couple that really were. Knocking out a 4/4 with occasional cymbal crashes is not a drummer (if that's all they do)......most I played with ignored the song, and just steamed through, just cluless. The bass playing job is just a million times easier alongside a proper drummer. Rant over! 😁

Last time I was playing regularly I used them. Found them also to be long lasting, with a nice feel and tone. Definitely a step up from the regular D'addario Nickels I'd used previously for years (not the same set, though!)

My best BD experience was when I had a bass with them on a comission sale. Long time went by, it clearly wasn't going to sell any time soon, and I needed the cash and it gone. I rang them to withdraw it, and pay whatever to have it sent back. Whilst I was talking to the assistant about it (he was great), Mark clearly overheard our conversation. He took the phone from the assistant, and proceeded to give me a right old telling off/tongue lashing for withdrawing the bass! I kept polite, as I obviously just wanted it back. He eventually put his assistant back on, and it was sorted. He couldn't apologise enough, clearly quite shocked as well at the behavior of his boss. Must have been having a bad day......!

VAN DAMME 2x4mm HIGH POWER SPEAKON TO SPEAKON CABLE 75cm- NEW! I bought this, and an instrument cable (also listed) brand new from Designacable on 21/8/21. Due to circumstances, I plugged it in once to try it in the combo and cab, and that's it. I put it in the drawer, and it's lain there since. As I move away from the bass world, everything must go. I have a couple of other items for sale on here at the mo. The lead is amazingly well made - I'm sure many on here have used the firm before. Great company who make super quality bespoke stuff. Hard to get decent photos, as I am useless near a camera. But I'm sure you get the idea.....it's a new, high quality, speakon. Only asking £10, plus £2.50 postage, UK only. Payment via PayPal 'gift' of Bank Transfer. Please PM with any interest - and thanks for looking! SB 😁
