1. Geezer-wise, I love 'All Moving Parts (Stand Still') from Technical Ecstasy. Bit funky! Don't forget - 'Junior's Eyes' from Never Say Die too - always love that. In fact, I love to jam with all the Sabs' 70's albums - loads of great stuff. Even though I probably am jamming some of it wrong! Great player, Geezer - never really gets the cred that many others, often unjustifiably, do.
2. Great story! I remember - last year? - MK was doing the auction of some of his basses, and had a little video to promote it. Must say he came across as a thoroughly decent and nice guy on that as well!
3. Don't do much for me either...all a bit too much of a re-tread of various things to really inspire. Probably a good live act, though.
4. Getting Exited? Where are you going? Joking aside, congrats and enjoy a great bass. Couldn't get on with mine a few years back, but wished I could - all red - lovely!
5. I'll check that out - many thanks Greg!
6. Have amended the question - now looking for Ric case only!
7. http://www.soundsliveshop.com/p/Gator_TSA_Bass_Case/GATOR-GPE-BASS-TSA Although this doesn't look bad...??
8. Posted this the other day - have amended the question. Need a hardcase to fit a Ric bass. Emailed loads of shops, but the all tell me they haven't got a case that fits! Don't need a super-hard flight-case, but just a good solid lump to protect the gear if thrown in general vans and stuff....and in case the case gets a foot on it! I really like the Fender SKB molded plastic cases, but they seem to be made in Fender shapes only? Any help on this would be great. I made the mistake of buying a Gator before.....never again!!
9. Great feature - thanks for posting!
10. Thanks guys - it's a great example. Sounds really 'Ric', and really slim neck as well, especially compared with the 4003s. Feels like a jazz in comparison...probably the thinnest Ric neck I've played or owned.
11. Looking to move on this beauty - March 1978 Rickenbacker 4001 in Burgundyglo. Condition is superb - for a 34 year old bass! Obviously, there are some marks, dents, and scrapes....but nothing major at all as the photos testify. Compared to some of the dogs on E-bay, this is one great bass. Rubber mute is worn, and the mute adjusters have been changed to screws (obviously) many years ago. Besides that, just normal wear and tear. It is obvious, but please do not view this as a new instrument - it has been played and gigged - but wears it well. Few months back, bass had a complete overhaul from Luthier Graham Parker - fret polish, action adjusted (really low), circuitry rewired, new toggle switch, new pots and capacitors. Plays like a 2012 bass! Price-wise, looking for £1,250 posted. Acquirement of another 4001 has forced sale! Comes with a (non-original) hard case. Probably of similar vintage to the bass...case is a little worn, but very use-able, and very strong and heavy! Collection possible, located in Tenterden, Kent. Any questions, please drop me a PM!
12. Just want to add that I love the new Rush album! Granted, I am fan - but even as such, obviously love some records more than others. I think it's their best for a long time - stiff competition, as I'm a big admirer of Snakes And Arrows and all that came before! Just love the whole way that the more times you listen, the more you get from it - something which most albums these days, for me, you just don't get. Maybe a little more space in the production would be good (not that I don't think it sounds great).....but then again, it has to sound 2012 and not like 2112!
13.
Is the best place to mention that I have a Stingray for sale on here?
You can't blame a man for trying!
14. Apologies if this has already been mentioned elsewhere, but I've noticed on the 'net that you can get the 'older' 2011-style Fender Jazz and Precision basses, brand new with all the goodies, for as little as £899. One I noticed initially was GAK, but I'm sure there's others. Having read about the little in difference made with the new models, that's quite a tempting price even for me! When a new on is over £1000, looks like a good saving for any Fender fan looking at new purchase. BTW, I have no affiliation or anything with the sales!
15. Pick player here through and through. I've tried using fingers, and on some other basses I've had you can arguably get a better tone. However, I do what I do - Ric with a Pick! That's my style and I'm sticking to it!
16.
I thought Hooky's Hondo got nicked?
I read in one of the Factory books that he smashed it up on a low ceiling, circa Autumn '79?
17. The abundance of Rics made for lovely viewing! The John Cooper Clarke clip looked (albeit briefly) - and sounded - Ric to me.

19. 2 basses here too!
20. A guy I used to work with was in the same class as Andy Fraser at secondary school! Both great players as well.
21. I saw this on E-bay - very nice 4001. Thought it went too cheaply on there TBH! Looking forward to the pics - great price as well!
22. Rickenbacker.....does anyone else make basses?
23. I enjoyed the Jools stuff, seriously might look at buying some of her stuff. I'd never come across her before, but I liked what I heard. ...and she has got awesome hair, IMHO, always very important for an artist!
24.
Probably not too far no. What are you having done to your bass? Will you let me know how it is when it comes back? Thanks Phil
Will PM with details as soon as it returns!
25. I've got a bass currently with James at 12th Fret in Winchelsea near Rye. In Sussex....a bit too far for you? http://www.12thfret.co.uk/ First time I've used him - bass comes back Wednesday. Seems like a good guy though, very professional, and very pleasant.
