** The 15th South East Bass Bash - Sunday 12 November 2023 **
petecarlton replied to Hamster's topic in Events
For some reason nothing happened the first couple of times I hit "submit reply", so I kept trying! Nice to be a record-holder at something 🙂 -
Anyone seen this before (sorry if it's already been posted in this thread)? This woman plays incredibly - left-handed on a righty bass!

Andy's setup tutorials are good enough for anyone - even Guy? -

I seem to have inherited/ended up with a set of Rotosound Steve Harris flats. I can't tell you much about it, other than that they are heavy-gauge at 50-75-95-110, because I've never tried them and, indeed, have never opened the pack. These are £45 on Amazon (bear with me!); £45 on Andertons (but out of stock); unavailable on Bass Direct (apparently they don't do Rotosounds at all); unavailable on PMT; but - wait for it - £59.99 on Strings Direct. Probably tells you all you need to know about Strings Direct: not that they take the p*ss, but that you need to check first before buying, particularly with unusual or recondite gauges. Anyway, I'm not going to upset my Shuker setup with these, but you might want a heavier, thumpier flatwound for your signature tone. Why not? Worth a try? Pete

If you have the space!

I was bought one for my first bass five years ago. I traded it in for a SUB Stingray after about six weeks. I loved the Ray, but wish I'd kept the acoustic for noodling, if nothing else. I do though seem to remember some sharp fret ends. But to answer your question, of course you do! 😊

Who organised that one? I've only been to Doveridge and last year in Snottingham.

This is just beautiful - the fact that so few people seem to have clocked it so far is a bit of a shame. Your price is very fair and you have taken a great deal of trouble with your ad, both in terms of the description and the extensive visual record. I'm sure this would attract far more than you're asking from some of the well-known collectors in the States: much as I love BC, there does seem to be a lot of love for vintage Fenders and Wals, but not enough for something truly historic and characterful like this. Good luck with your sale - I only wish I had been in a position to take this off you.

I honestly would, but a) I'm not down your way very often (my daughter's in Margate); and b) I'd need to bring it back to my favourite tech before feeling confident about tube issues, etc. I still think this is a wonderful opportunity for someone, especially at the price you're now asking - just not me this time. Once more, good luck with your sale! -
