Total Watts

  1. Okay, so if I combine the following, what will the loudness be? Mark Bass Little Mark IV 300W Bass Head Mark Bass MB58R 102 ENERGY 400W 8 Ohm 2x10 Neodymium Custom Speakers Bass Cabinet And what will the loudness be if I add this in parallel? Mark Bass MB58R 151 ENERGY 400W 8 Ohm 1x15 Neodymium Custom Speaker Bass Cabinet
  2. The MB58R 102 is 8 Ohms. The Little Mark IV has two speaker outputs (image below): SPEAKON / 1/4”COMBO JACK 1/4” JACK More dumb questions: Do I connect them in series, or parallel? If in parallel, is it safe to use both outputs (one for each cabinet)? Thanks again.
  3. Why shouldn't I pair it with a 1x15? On the Markbass website, the 151 "can be used as a standalone ... or in combination with a MB58R 102 ENERGY", which I have.
  4. Thank you. The 102 is an 8 ohm cab so it appears I'm getting 150 watts.
  5. Okay, so I've never been able to get my head around ohms and resistance, so please be gentle. I have these: Mark Bass Little Mark IV 300W Bass Head Mark Bass MB58R 102 ENERGY 400W 8 Ohm 2x10 Neodymium Custom Speakers Bass Cabinet The specification for this cabinet says impedance is 4 ohms, 8 ohms Here is the dumb question: in this setup, is the impedance 4 ohms or 8 ohms? Here is another dumb(er) question: if it is 4 ohms, is the output 150 watts? Dumb question number 3: If I add a Mark Bass MB58R 151 ENERGY 400W 8 Ohm 1x15 Neodymium Custom Speaker Bass Cabinet to this in series (the bass head has one output), will the resistance be 8 ohms and the output be 300 watts? Thanks in advance.
  6. I've put a set of Billy Sheehan Rotosounds on today: 43 - 65 - 80 - 110 Raised the action a touch. Though it's heavy and loses a bit of brightness in the attack, the 110 is good. Dropped to C#, there's a bit of rattle/flap but it's tolerable. I'll probably continue experimenting in future, but for the moment, I'll see how it goes. Thanks to everyone for their comments and suggestions. They are very much appreciated. More Q's to come... Cheers!
  7. I've got a 105 on and it rattles/flaps. I have a 43 65 80 110 set being delivered soon. If the 110 is problematic, then I'll try a 120 for the E string.
  8. What bass(es) do you use these on? I have a Spector Euro and I'm very reluctant to adjust the nut (filing was suggested) because it's a gorgeous beast!
  9. Thanks. Any brand recommendations for hex wound strings?
  10. I've put a .105 on today and it's better than a .100 but still flaps/rattles. Think I'll try a .110. Has anyone tried the Rotosound Billy Sheehan Custom set (43-110)?
  11. The 120 seems a bit of a jump! I've got a 45-105 set to try out so I'll see how they feel and work from there.
  12. I had a 5-string years ago. Tried for a long time but couldn't get on with it. I'm happy with a 4-string.
  13. Do they maintain the brightness of new strings?
  14. Of course. But the gauge difference is minimal. I suppose it depends on how the nut "grooves" are at the moment.
