Well im expecting it any day now but i must comment on the Bass Centre service. The day after i ordered it i phoned my card number in, to get a set of flats included in the box. no problems they say, we always restring the basses before set up and sending them out, so we will restring with flats, no charge. wow, wow and triple wow. That is service !

Well, i ordered one this morning. i was all set to do it years ago but real life in the shape of a stroke took over. its taken 3 years to stop being a couch cabbage and to find the necessary interest to get back to playing. i did find out that the +£100 for a fretless neck is not for a second neck but for the guys at bass centre to defret the one on the bass you order, so ive got a fretted one. never played a fretless apart from my baby bass, so i will leave that for the time being. any other old buggers here who get the brain fart, chin up it can only get better

Well well, after trying to play a HB, which I found difficult, I found this beaut on a FB group. sounds superb compared to the HB, and a bit easier to hold straight, and it looks the dogs danglies . tried it out with the band last Thursday to positive comments. ( clue to our music is in the name “The Elderly Brothers”) it came with a Beringer acoustic pedal, which I’ve yet to try. any other owners here ? feeling happy

Pickups are normal Telecaster 6 string. David where are you ? tell us all about them no, I’m not on commission
-
I’ve got his 32 neck on a LP body. Very bass with flats.
-
Sits nice on my knee or a strap. come round and try it Stew Or nip up, see David and try one

Well , anyone else tried one yet ? Telecaster body and pickups with a lovely shortscale neck. ive not had it long enough (nor am I good enough )to define the sound. BUT I love the look and the sounds I can get out of it with the supplied Rotosound strings. It sits nice and is a real looker to me .

Epiphone EB0 with flats and retrovibe 30k mudbucker

I only know it's not a proper English longbow !
-
Quick one taken in the dark , it arrived 'set up' for rockabilly, with an action higher than I've ever seen ( obviously needed) with a bow but no arrows !
-
Well it came in a box over 6 foot long, it's very black and very tall. I'm not sure what I expected, but it is better. Scroll head is superb. I will begin learning to play it tomorrow.
-
I guess that is a no then . It arrives next Tuesday.

I've waited for this model to be available, I've got a thing about the scroll headstock, it now is, and I've ordered it. right or wrong ? Anyone got one ?

Dry fingerboards are not only found on HB basses! recently bought a Gibson SG bass, lovely apart from the inside of the case being full of fretboard dust, fretboard almost pink from dryness.

As im in my cave, building a model plane . . . . . . Radio Caroline Flashback and if 'alexa' is asked for 'bass up' you can enjoy the old Motown bass lines !

Davids LPJ with the standard pickups and flat wounds sound really good. He tried mine and was impressed. Stewblack, just message me if you want to try one. . . . It's not black though.
-
I've fitted the excellent Retrovibe 30k pickup in my EB0 so it wouldn't be a straight comparison I'm afraid, but if it makes any sense the SG feels nicer than the nice feeling EB0
-
It's definitely got a thinner body and is lighter than my Epi EB0

Black Friday deal saw me parting with my credit card for a new one. BUT omfg. Lovely brown hard case, holding a bass that was so covered in dust, a fingerboard that was so dry it was pink. Pink dust everywhere that looked like the paint had not adhered to the corners or crevices and a loose jack socket. spoke to the dealer, who said it had come direct from Gibson, and the security label was intact when it arrived so I believe them . secured a further discount on the price, dusted it off, oiled the fingerboard, tightened up the socket, and its wonderful to play . Im surprised ( despite hearing lots of nasty comments about Gibson) that they allowed this sort of lack of final inspection lack of quality.

Welcome welcome. As to Church music, I'm in the process of getting the fellow Friday night players to learn 'Standing in the power of Love' an old Carl Perkins adaptation of a church tune.
