  1. Thanks this is really helpful. I am waiting on the bloods and xray results, but Psoriatic arthritis was the first suggestion from the GP. Reading up later, it does describe whats happening with my finger. Only issue is I dont think I have Psorisis...i get red dry skin on my elbows and I have a couple of really small blemeshes on my skin which I have had for years, but thats all. Jonny
  2. That sounds quite frustrating, hope you get to the bottom of it. and you re right, in the words of a certain canadian band ' we are only immortal for a limited time' Jonny
  3. This is the bit that kinda worries me, At least with a diagnosis iuts easier to look for treatment. Hope you get to the bottom of it. Jonny
  4. Never knew these existed, they could be exactly what I'm looking for, especially if I move to a soup based diet...
  5. Thanks Lozz, at the moment its the ring finger of my plucking hand, string spacing miught become an issue but its very early days Jonny
  6. Thanks for this. Your condition sounds fairly bad I hope you are in good health. I have found the warmer my hand, the less painful it is. Jonny
  7. Thanks for sharing Dave, that sounds like a journey you are going through and I wish you all the best with your hand. Its very early stages for me however, i think if it was my fretting hand or my middle or first finger I'd be struggling, as it is the ring finger on my plucking hand its less important for me anyway, however I have noticed that my hand is fatiguing earlier than it would. 3 hour pub gigs may be beyond me. Jonny
  8. Hi folks, hope this is in the right place, if not sorry mods. Since mid december I have been getting pain in my right hand on my ring finger, after visiting the GP, we are undergoing tests but the likely outcome is arthritis in my finger (possibly Psoriac arthritis). This is an appeal to the BC hive mind, anyone have any real world experience on things i can do to help it ? Stretches, supports, Turmeric capsules? Jonny
  9. This thread (and the videos) have been superb Funkle. Amazing work and what a great sounding bass you have made. Jonny
  10. All off, clean the bass, restring with new ones. Jonny
  11. I know what you mean but I find them to be really balanced across all 5 strings, I have them on two basses, both sound good. Also for me they last a while before they need changing. I'd say heavy gigging for me I'd be looking at 6 weeks easy. With DRs or dunlops I would be lucky to get 5 weeks. but YMMV. Jonny p.s. Im sure someone popped a discount code up in the thread, not sure if its still active.
  12. Hi @Beer of the Bass I've Been using Platinum 5 string sets for years I find them to have more smooth growl to the B, I think they feel played in straight out the pack. I'd say order a set and try them out. They will take about 2 weeks to arrive but I think for the money they are great strings. My usual is 50-130 round core nickel plated platinum. Jonny
  13. Careful…I’ve found them quite addictive 😊
  14. I use 50-130 roundcore nickel plated steel on my 34 inch scale ACG and they are nice and flexible, not stiff like Roto 66's and not quite as loose as other strings, feel is allot like DR high beams to me. Jonny
  15. I'd second that, I love Newtone strings for the same reasons. Out of interest, do use always use the same type? I usually go with the platinum for my 5 but im going to try the diamond on one of my 4's to see if theres a difference. Jonny
  16. I've used mine at 5 gigs so far, no reliability issues, tuner is super clear to see, as are the patch names on stage, easy to use, DI sounded great too. Jonny
  17. Part of me philosphically uses it to remind myself that basses are for playing for me...and that I dont like the Wal V shaped neck...as a Mick Karn fanboy I had lusted after them for a few years, then that afternoon, and I spend about an hour with it I was cured of Wal related GAS...although I did think, could i buy it and just rip out the pickups electronics??
  18. There are loads of playable basses now at very low price points, as well if you go second hand and not fashionable you can still get a bargain. If you want a US made name brand bass, its not going to be cheap...ever. On the Wal story I went round three music shops with about £300-£500 to spend on a bass in the early 90's...in that afternoon I played a 76 Precision, a white Ricky 4001, a Wal Mk1 all for £500-£600 Mostly becausse none were fashionable then and a musicman stingray 5(Which was slightly higher than my budget)...The fender was a dog and weighed more than a small planet, the Wal had the hard V neck that I really hate/hated and I couldnt get a good sound or comfy playing position on the Ricky...I borrowed a £100 from my parents and got the Musicman...occasionally regret it to this day purely for the resale value, have to remind myself the reason I was buying a bass was my bass at the time had an unfixable neck and so I had no usable bass for the 3 bands I was gigging with. Sold the Stingray for a profit a few years later, but no where near as much as I would have got for any of the others. Jonny
  19. @Kateplaysbass I roughly use it how you plan too for the covers band. However, I found I didnt need a slightly different clean sound or dirty sound for every song so I have a "clean" patch, a "dirty" patch, an Octave patch, synth patch, etc, and I just make sure they are easily accessible during the set. The cobination of touch screen and acutal buttons I find really useful. For my original band I tend to use it more in memory mode where i have a pedal board set up (roughly the same as I did before I got muliteffects) I find this easier when we are coming up with new songs/parts/arrangements, we havent gigged since I got it but I think I'll end up setting up patches to match the set for that as mid gig its so much easier to just click one footswitch Jonny
  20. Birlliant, totally nailing it. As a Rush fan for longer than I remember I'd happily go and see these guys. Bass tone is totally nailed (IMO) Jonny
  21. Absolute stunner
  22. Exactly what rooms need
  23. That is beautiful, I love the colour choice with the fingerboard wood. I have owned an ACG recurve 5 string for a few years its only 34inch scale but the B string feels great. The 35inch must make if feel thunderous. Enjoy dude jonny
  24. Yes still for sale
  25. Zoom b6 I use it exactly for this. I have scenes with vintage amps, modern amps. effects and no effects, built in tuner that mutes when it tunes, DI out, two inputs with level controls. Really easy to use in a gig scenario like you described. Jonny
