1.
Hello !
can anyone help me in deciding what amp I should buy for an upright double bass ,thinking of the Markbass ,as it is portable and lightwight ,but now looking at the Ahdown little giant 1000 , it seems to have good comments and it is damn cheap for what it has to offer , is there any down sides to it , or is there another alternative ? :)
I am only venturing into double bass myself so my opinion may count for nothing but I would recommend Markbass. I was at a gig where the bassist was using a Markbass and it sounded sweet.

Thats just me but best check with seasoned doublers on here for their valued opinion.

    Good luck

Get On The Floor! My favorite Jacko track by a clear mile and thats thanks to Louis Johnson's monster bassline!

  3. Marcus Miller cites Verdine as one of his inspirations and its not hard to see why. Tracks like Fantasy, Boogie Wonderland, Fall in Love (With Me) are bass masterclasses. For me personally, he is one of the very best. I remember a story about when they started and Quincy Jones (who I reckon produced some of their early stuff) didnt want Verdine on bass because he was too young but after listening to him was convinced that he was the man for the bass chair. (I stand corrected)

Here is one of my favorite Earth Wind and Fire tracks from the recent album 'Illumination' featuring Raphael Saadique, Kenny G, Brian McKnight etc. But this particular one 'Pure Gold' is Hot. Verdine's movement and choice of style on the chorus does it for me.

    My 2p.

  4.
Whilst on the subject of Abe Laboriel, I saw him (unexpectedly) on a youtube vid yesterday, this one, a scoring session for 'The Incredibles', at 2.54, his usual vivacious self, no coverage of him playing unfortunately, I guess he must be on a load of film soundtracks - anyone know any others he's on? I must check out this film & listen out for him!
Lion King.

  5. I hope he doesnt do what 'jimmypreston' ended up doing. Life is far too short and too precious to be messed about with.
He very clearly needs help. No point in retribution, I think he is in far greater trouble now.

  6.
I hope for the sake of all you "internet policemen" this does in fact turn out to be a scam. If it isn't, however, and at the moment we have no idea either way, then all this speculation and fingerpointing is in very poor taste IMO.
