Just a thought - if you want a lot of responses and don't want to have to collate the answers by hand, then you might try using one of the many free online survey sites - just set it up, post the url and then download the results. A bit of a faff to set up but it will save you loads of time collating the answers. e.g. http://freeonlinesurveys.com/ Cheers John

They look (on paper) to be about the perfect compromise between volume, tone and size. I've been looking for something that could cope with rehearsals (quietish ones) and this might just be perfect - I'd be really interested to know how it copes with volume - what are the chances of it competing with a drummer? Cheers John

Some people claim the 1st version tracks slightly better and has a better tone. I used to have the mk4 version and I once compared it to the mk1 and couldn't really tell them apart. I figure that once you add any gain or fx the subtle difference in tone is negligible. The mk4 I had seemed to track perfectly and I would struggle to justify paying the extra for the old one. £300 is good price for a mk1 whammy though - I've seen them go for £400 in the past.
Morning all, Just to add that I would post the Status. I'm just not happy with couriers, having had some crappy sevice in the past. Ta, Gary.
I know what you mean, I think I've been lucky so far but if you're happy to take the risk then hopefully it can find it's way back up north :-) Cheers John

Every school and LEA does things slightly differently. I'd suggest you ring around the school's you're interested in working with - probably best to ask for the head of music and they'll explain they're school policy. I'm 99% sure my LEA does a CRB check which would allow you to work at any of their schools, and this should be fairly quick to do - bit of a pain but fairly straightforward for most people - if you've moved house a lot and changed your name it could be more involved. I you want to know anything specific I can go and talk to the music people at my place and get their ideas. Cheers John

Hi, The Faith are playing at the Springhead tonight - pop along and say hello if you're in the area. (best to go via anlaby - the willerby side is still a bit wet!!) Cheers John
I've got a few questions myself. How large is the front pocket. Do you think you could fit a Mark Bass Little Mark II? (http://www.markbass.it/products.php?lingua=en&cat=1&vedi=69)
I *think* you could fit the little mark but it would be tight - the pocket is quite long and wide but not that deep (if that makes sense). My mates Mark is in a purpose built flightcase and that wouldn't fit but I think without the case it should slot in nicely - no promises but I don't see a problem, Cheers John
I've got a few questions myself. How is it to carry via the front handle, i.e. can you walk with it comfortably holding it there? Does it have a side handle? If so, how comfortable is it and what material is it made out of? Have you used it on public transport? If so, how was it? How large is the front pocket. Do you think you could fit a Mark Bass Little Mark II? (http://www.markbass.it/products.php?lingua=en&cat=1&vedi=69) Sorry for the million questions. It's just I'm still looking for my perfect soft gig bag solution after trying so many different cases.
The front handle seems to be the one I use most (so far) that way you can wheel it. There is a side handle but it's not as comfy (to me) I'm lazy so I don't use buses etc. The front pocket should easily hold a little mark - I'll check tomorrow night with my mates amp. HTH John
How heavy is it? Is it bulky?
It's very light I think, sizewise it's a little bigger than 2 gigbags, there's a little plastic frame at the base where the wheels sit that helps give it shape. Hope that makes sense John

Well I bought the double ibanez bag from thoman - it's excellent for the money. Appear to pretty well made, decent padding and the wheels are handy. Hopefully it'll last a few years. Cheers John

Generally you would put the fx that change the basic sound - wah, gain, distortion etc before fx that add to the basic sound - chorus, delay, phase, flanging etc. but there's nothing wroing with experimenting to see what works best for you. Tuners work best with a clean tone, so with either at the beginning of the chain or on a seperate branch (from an A/B pedal or some volume pedals have a seperate tuner out). I've usually made my own boards, but for ready made ones I'd probably get a diago board. Cheers John

I've got an AKG 451 which is sweet, (I combine it with a c414). For live work (i.e. where I don't want things to go missing) I use either a pair of Beyer opus53's (a bargain from thomann) or the Joe Meek JM27 (from Gear4music) They are both really good sounding SDC's without breaking the bank. The SE1a would be also be good buy (studiospares has them cheapest I think), and for more critical work I'm sure you can buy a matched pair. Cheers John

Mark bought my amp last week - one of the easiest sales I've made - really nice guy, good communications and no messing about - brilliant!. Mark - hope you enjoy the amp and good luck with the RHCP band :-) Thanks John

Hi, I just came across the Ibanez double bag - looks good but I'd be interested to hear from anyoen that's seen them or used them IDBB5-BK http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/products/acc...s/page/bag.html Thanks John

I saw this on the itbites site - it's a bit of a trek but I'm really tempted. Should be a good gig - hope it goes well! Cheers John
Ok it works like this........ bass goes on sale for 99p with £800 reserve..... biders 1,2+3 put small bids on say around £250 Bidder 4 actually loves it and on day 2 bids his max (as it says you SHOULD do) that he wants to pay which £810 eBay automaticaly takes his bid to the reserve @ £800 and NOT the next bid say £260 as its called validated bid (or something like that). Thats how it ends up where it is now! PS seems like a lot to me but I now squat about Warwick values!
When I've wanted to increase my max bid (when I can't be near a pc at the end of the auction), the actual bid doesn't increase until someone else bids - have you any info about this validated bid malarky? I'd have expected it to sit at £5.50 until someone else put in a higher and pushed up the price. I've never seen someone (like bidder 2) be able to outbid themselves - increase their max bid but not force the actual price up.

+1 for making your own if you have the time (a lot of soldering!) and want to save some cash. Be careful - I once had to make 3 x 32 way and in a rush wired the cable for pin 1 to pin3 and vice versa - result huge hum, some swearing and a lot more soldering.

For no critical work (e.g. practising rather than mixing), I'd go for the cheap Sennheisers (201 etc). They're comfy, sound fine and solid. I've got 3 pairs we use for tracking and they look like they'll last longer than the cheap AKG (K55) we have. Cheers John

It's out of order not telling people about the insurance limits - especially when they always make a big deal of it when I go to the counter. It'll be interesting to see if you get anywhere with your claim against them - good luck! John

Thanks for the update, sounds great, but I'm slightly worried about it being fiddly to use.... I'll have to see if I can try one out. Cheers John

Do they offer any pitch correction features? Sounds like one of these would be perfect for some of the def leppard numbers we play, but being slightly off-key is bad with one note it would be painful with 3 or 4 part harmony. Thanks John
