  1. Interesting... I've always found them a bit thin and scratchy sounding. Unless I'm thinking of a different Behringer SM58 knock-off.
  2. I very much rate the Eden d210xst. That's why I've kept it all these years. I have tried other cabinets, including Markbass, Mesa etc. But I keep coming back to the Eden. It is a bit on the heavy side, though.
  3. The XM8500 is a truly nasty mic, but it is good to see that you have found its niche!
  4. If your drummer has a genuinely professional attitude they will see their role as creating an enjoyable experience for the audience and adjust to the situation accordingly. The best drummers will do this. It's a hard night for the sound engineer and audience alike when musicians bring their stadium rock to the local pub.
  5. I've done 100s of "set up and go" pub gigs. The sort where a proper PA tuning is just not possible. My key tips would be: 1. Shiny room = lots of treble reflections. Think glass or polished wood. Trim some highs out. 2. Floor <-> ceiling reflections typically create a room node around 160-180Hz, (unless the ceiling is higher). Putting an eq dip in here somewhere usually cleans up the sound a lot. 3. Can't hear the vocal? Put a towel over the snare drum.
  6. My band gigged with Cerwin Vega CVA28 tops (they are an active 2x8) for a decade with a single 18" sub underneath. Plenty loud enough for pub gigs and marquee weddings. I'm doing sound for other bands now, using the same setup, and my musicians love them and the audience is happy.
  7. My taste in vocal mics appears to slightly non- standard. Sennheiser e945 for lead vocal to cut through. EV PL80 for a vocalist who needs their voice warmed up. Audiotechnica AE4100 which is similar in flavour to SM58 but better in every way.
  8. Sunday afternoon, garden bar. Happy times.
  9. Friday night's gig. Time to give the 004 a run
  10. The latest iteration of my gigging board. Now with integrated wireless. It really is too nice for playing local pubs. The stagebug tucks in at the rear of the board for emergencies if my amp dies.
  11. Another vote for the pork loin. It ended my search for a good filth pedal.
  12. Just a little old-school board i put together using spare parts...
  13. The latest addition to my main board. The daschund adds a bit of low-down character and helps to initiate conversations with women.
  14. My fabulous Grooveline...
  15. The Model T is about 15 years old and was made in Korea. Has the Seymour Duncan passive pickups. I mostly use the front pickup and add just a little back pickup to taste. The coat is genuine 1980s fashion which I picked up 2nd hand recently. Perfect for the genre:)
  16. Love my model t.
  17. When I sold it I was trying to build a board that would run happily off a Volto so it did work for that. Now that I'm plugging the Zuma into the wall with a stacking plug it would be fine. Amazing sounding pedal though.
  18. Funnily enough, the exact unit that I sold about 8 years ago has just come up second hand locally here in nz. It is the older style with the mains power wired in which was one of the reasons I sold it in the first place.
  19. Dragged my big board out of storage recently for a rehearsal. Ok, so it's a bit of a tiddler compared to some of the monsters on here recently. I've gone for classy and portable. Power is through a Strymon Zuma on the underside. This does everything I need, and I can pick it up in one hand at the end of the night. My first chorus was a Carl Martin, so it's nice to have one on board again even though the Corona and mxr bcd were both very good.
  20. Friday night's rig...
  21. Last night's rig... pretty good for a Tuesday!
  22. Which ashdown head is that. I’ve got my eye on a ctm 100 to beef up my little bastard..
  23. Gorgeous Bass, congrats! I just noticed that the bridge appears to be identical to the one in my Schecter 004 fwiw.
  24. Hi everyone, I'll be stoked if you check out our recent album release gig. Recorded live in Otautahi Christchurch, New Zealand. Here's a link to 9ne YouTube vid but you will find a handful here if you like what you hear. Thanks in advance.
