  1. I've got a CIJ 62 Precision and i love it, it's the best bass i've owned so far - but i'm a lefty so there's not much choice. If i could have another i'd get another 62 or as Clarky said, the 70s CIJ Precision - slightly narrower at the nut than your common or garden precision. Having said that, i was worried about the step up from Jazz to Precision necks as i have smaller hands. When i got the 62, i realised that it was the ideal size for me believe it or not! I'd go CIJ all the way!
  2. Depends what cab you run it through i suppose. I had the 3.0-10T combo (1x10 GB speaker) and while it sounded fantastic, i found that i had to push it just into the clip area quite a bit at rehearsals. Mark from Bass Direct assured me that even when the clip light begins to flash, it's just a bit of a warning and you can push the amp a bit further without it actually clipping, but i was reluctant to do this. I think if you have anything upwards of the 1x10 you should be fine. I know of one or two people who had the 212 Neox cabs and they seemed to work really well with the amp. It's very light though so don't topple it off the top of your cab if you're moving about a lot whilst playing!
  3. i used to be a jazz guy, but since i got my precision it's kind of like i've reached bass heaven! Everything about it is appealing - no bells and whistles but a simple to use, fantastic sounding bass. I'd definitely love another - Pino style!
  4. Typical Moho. There's only one decent promoter who ever does gigs there and i'm not even sure they're still going. We've done some gigs there and we had the same problem, the storage room near the toilets was full to bursting and we couldn't put anything in the dressing room. It's just a decent venue badly run IMO
  5. I bought my Shuttle combo without trying - can't say i regretted it - a brilliant piece of kit. Except that i traded it in for a MarkBass combo
  6. I asked a fella from Ashdown about this back in the days when i had one, the idea being that the needle needs to be up around the area where the black ends with your hardest playing. I'm not sure if the red portion is overload or clip though!
  7. I have a friend who is in a newly-signed black metal band and he needs a new 4 string bass. AFAIK the bass he's been using isn't his and he needs one pretty sharpish. Unfortunately, until the royalties start rolling in, he's constrained by budget the the tune of about £200 ish. He could perhaps get something brand new, or maybe with the budget available he could look at used options? I know nothing about this particular genre of music and what bass would suit it best. At the moment he is using a P bass copy; i think his only stipulation is that it's not a bright colour! Also one of his band has a BC Rich and he's definitely not up for one of those either! Not sure whether he wants active or passive... Anyone got any ideas?
  8. Bill Withers - Lovely Day. Dead simple but nice line
  9. P Bass Special has a Jazz neck doesn't it?

Who did the tech work for you Rayman?
  12. Are the combos that bad? the one i played was sound. Got a CMD102p on the way
  13. I'd quite like a Stingray and a 70s Jazz (lefty of course!) Don't have anything like the money i'd need for those, so i'll settle for a G&L Tribute L2000 and a Squier VMJ
  14. Linus27 has/had one, he did a YouTube vid of "It's My Life" by Talk Talk with his and it sounded great! The VMJs tend to be well regarded so maybe a trip to a luthier might be an idea?
  15. Another PB user here - can't fault it. Quick, accurate and cool to boot
  16. Got lead problems? Buy OBBM, i've got two and i'll never use anything else.
  17. I love my CIJ 62 reissue, i don't think i'll ever part with it. Just want to get another in Fiesta Red / Tort Guard a la Bruce Thomas / Pino Palladino and i'll be a happy man!
  18. Thanks Lawrence!
  19. Thought our keyboardist was going to have this - i gave him your details. Clearly he can't be arsed. Sorry about that
  20. I used the SansAmp Bass Driver DI the last time, it worked a treat!
  21. Genz Benz do a 1x10 cab also
  22. I really really liked the EB-3 that i had a go of once in a recording studio - shame they only come righty or i'd have probably had one by now!
  23. Weight ca 15kg? That's even lighter than my Genz rig! how are they doing it??
  24. Scott Morriss from The Bluetones plays a Gretsch Broadkaster i think. Think it's got a nice meaty tone IMHO
  25. I recently bought a protection racket bass case from Lozbass. It was a pleasure to deal with Lawrence from beginning to end, the case was as described and he even took time out to drop the case off at my place of work! A thoroughly nice chap, i would buy from Lozbass with confidence
