They look pretty amazing from the pics on the website - thanks for the link to the other thread!

I've now enough money to splash out on the lefty 75RI Jazz bass i've always wanted. The lowest price i can pick one up from new is £999 @ Guitar Emporium. It's a pain seeing as the price was only around £700 a year ago, but the pound's weak and all the other recession-y stuff isn't helping! I stumbled across the Maruszczyk website Maruszczyk Instruments and after a brief chat with Adrian, i found i could have a custom-made option with well known pickups and hardware such as EMG, Delano, Schaller, Gotoh etc at no extra cost, as well as a bound/blocked rosewood neck and colour matched headstock for less than the Fender. It's just that i don't know many people who have heard of them, let alone played them. I was concerned about re-sale value but i'm pretty certain that i'm going to keep this bass for a hell of a long time. I know Fenders are known the world over and i might not be able to command a decent price against the Fender should i wish to get rid of it, but it will be built to my specs so i should in theory have my dream bass! Anybody have any experience with the basses?
Err...where are you in Manchester
i work at the MRI so i'm fairly central most of the time! might take you up on that offer I've had some fairly interesting replies - i did think that the emergence of the VMJs would make the natural option a bit more common, i know of a bassist who has one so that could be another reason to go 3TS. Cheers for your input though!

although i spend a good bit of time whingeing about how injust it is that i can't get hold of a lefty CIJ Jazz bass, i've unexpectedly come into a wee bit of money and so i can now start looking at picking up my much GASed after 75 RI Jazz bass. I've narrowed it down to either 3TS or NAT, both with rosewood neck. Obviously i don't expect you guys to make up my mind for me, but i'd like your thoughts if you didn't mind? I like the look of the 3TS, but sunburst Fender Jazzes are fairly ubiquitous, however i think the burst is really nice. I've always liked the look of the natural, but i'm beginning to think it's a bit bland. Having said that, i saw Simon Jones from The Verve playing his NAT '75 back in the day and thought i'd never seen a cooler bass! hmm, what to do, what to do

Err, it's kind of indie-schmindie stuff really! People have compared us to basically every Madchester band you've ever heard of with a bit of a Doors-y/ psychedelic slant Hope that helps

we're embarking on a bit of a mini tour in September and are looking for places in the North East for a gig. We're not too arsed about where it is, Newcastle/Middlesbrough/Durham anywhere really. Anybody know some people or places up there we could ask? Cheers

about a year ago they were about £700 delivered though - i think i'm holding out for the exchange rate to sort itself out!
Really? I've contacted several of the MIJ Fender importers (and traders from Japan, like Guitarshogun.com), who would gladly sell me a lefty PB70/LH or JB75-US/LH. In the end I didn't need to buy a new one because my JB75-US/LH popped up on eBay in Germany, but I gladly would have!
yeah, i was aware of GuitarShogun and was going to use them, but the exchange rate went all silly and now it's the best part of £1000 once you include shipping, customs charges etc. It's a shame because i couldn't wait for the exchange rate to settle because i needed a "main" bass quickly and neither Ishibashi nor Ebay were any use. I've now got an MIM Jazz but i want a 75 reissue like you wouldn't believe. If they did the MIM 75s as lefty i'd even buy one of those, heard lots of good things about them too

i asked Andy this question and here's the reply he gave me Quote Very simply the Hammers are darker, beefier - more bassey, but a tad quieter than 84s
-
i tried all the well known importers of CIJ Fenders and none would import the left handers - this was when Guitar Emporium had gone on temporary hiatus. Then the exchange rate plummeted and i had to go down the MIM route again. Gutted isn't the word, not many come up on the for sale forum either! I tried Ishibashi's u-box but encountered the same problems as OldGit. I think it is a bit of a poor show, Fender know that their Jap instruments consistently out-perform their other ones, yet they persist in blocking their sale outside Japan. Fender should shut down it's MIM operation and sell MIJ fenders at the entry level IMO. Then i'd have the 75 Jazz and 57 Precision i've always wanted

i use the GB Shuttle 3.0/10T and i've no complaints about the low-end, even though the 3.0 is the lesser of the two shuttle amps, it has bass in abundance and the settings are extremely easy to use. I'd expect the 6.0 to be even better what with the tube preamp, but one or two BCers went from the Shuttle 6.0 to the 3.0, so i suppose it's horses for courses. I can't fault mine in any way, it's great when other bassists look down their nose at its size and then actually hear how loud it is

Another Manc here - welcome!

i was looking for a lefty BB414 myself - they're quite difficult to come by lately! have they stopped making them? or am i just being thick?
-
I can't wait to drop some 84s in my Jazz - they sound like the mutt's nuts
-
I had a somewhat problematic MIM Jazz, i had it sent back to Fender and now it's been fixed and had some decent pickups installed, it plays like a dream.

is the organ still available?

Cheers - much appreciated! Anymore for anymore?

we're finding it impossible to get on ANY this year. It's most likely 'cos we're sh*te

Hola! We're struggling to get any impartial feedback on the new recordings we did that will form the basis of our new "EP". Please give the tracks a listen at The Satellite Towns The tracks we recorded were TUNNEL VISION EMILY BUILT A BOAT SEASIDE THE DRONES Cheers all

you're right - think i'd baulk at paying that much for a Squier, good though they may be. I'm thinking my next bass is going to be a custom jobby
-
they're sh*t - end of. I ordered a Takamine acoustic from them a few years ago - when it arrived, the finish on the front of the guitar was chipped and scratched in a few places, and trying to get them to take it back was almost impossible. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
-
as far as i was aware, the only lefty Squier produced was the P Bass Special, which isn't a bad bass for the money. These VMJs come well recommended from the rightys i know who've played one, so i really want one now!
-
I've discovered that Squier produce a lefty version of the VMJ that i've seen plenty praise for on these very pages. It isn't even listed on their website but DV247 and Thomann have them advertised! Got a major GAS attack now

Fantastic service and the cables are fantastic. Cheers Dave
