  1. How do you feel about it now you're a few days in @kevham?
  2. Glad to hear you're enjoying it, I know the aesthetics are really important but if the bass sounds good and you can get a useful tone from it, you can (almost) ignore the looks.
  3. It's funny how the roasted neck changes the whole visual aspect of the bass isn't it? I find vintage white sits equally nicely with a rosewood or maple fingerboard, but for some reason I find the roasted neck a little much next to it
  4. The BB does look a little bit off-colour for want of a better description, although it's the classic colour on it's Fender counterpart which is a mild shame.
  5. No left handers.... again 🙄
  6. Exciting times!!
  7. Sounds ridiculous but a Squier P Special (LH). Was my first bass and had everything I subsequently looked for (and not completely found) Lightweight, P sound, J neck. Went to Cash Converters for a song. Serious sellers remorse on that one. Just didn't like the godawful Antique Burst it came with but in hindsight for the sentimental value overall I should've refinished it.
  8. Saw this on FB, looks nifty! Not bad for just a touch north of £100
  9. Ooh exciting times! Please let us know how you get on with it
  10. I fancy one of the D5s as well... I've always been interested in the "pre '57" precision if you like, but until relatively recently they just haven't existed. I'm just not sure if I could get on with the pickup. Maybe with flats on it would be a winner
  11. Fender should just do the decent thing and produce a lefty FSR mustang or something, they'd definitely sell out. I'd buy one
  12. You're right there, they had guitar pickups in them as opposed to a single coil or mustang pickup. Sold as "student" models as well, so bottom of the range as you rightly said. I often wonder how much a mustang would go for in these circumstances? I dread to think!
  13. I had a feeling it might go for silly money. Certainly it's the first lefty I've ever seen
  14. I think Blur and Damon Albarn in particular were irritated by the constant Beatles comparisons made with Oasis, I think they might have set out to wilfully disprove the comparisons. Certainly he was quoted to have said of Beetlebum "I want Noel to acknowledge it is...closer". I think he's right. There's definitely a Macca vibe on the bass too. All in all one of their standout tracks for me and a deserved no.1
  15. That Jazz is 😍😍
  16. Thanks to all the replies on this thread, I've just started to dip my toe into this music, but haven't a clue where to start- but I'm enjoying what I'm hearing 👍🏻
  17. Not sure I'd agree with this... The majority of the major players, especially in the britpop era, tended to gravitate towards P, J or MM. Oasis (original bassist) - Jazz/Tele Blur - P/MM Elastica - MM Pulp - P/J/MM Travis - P Radiohead - P/MM Shed 7 - P/MM Mansun - J The Verve - J etc
  18. 10 weeks for mine
  19. 300 quid is pushing it for me. Not worth it in that condition
  20. Coming from a former Oasis super-fan, why would you set out your stage "persona" on latter day Oasis? The band might have been technically more adept, but for me the classic look is where it's at, the vast majority of your set is probably going to be the first few albums and their accompanying B sides? Go for the Guigs look... Jazz or 51 P. Job done. That's what I'd expect to see, not Andy Bell.
  21. @whynot had a lefty 5er for sale a while back
  22. I saw it... it went super fast! Enjoy
  23. Very nice indeed!
  24. I rue the day I sold mine. It went for a ridiculous price as well. I hated the antique burst but I should have kept it and refinished.
