Fred Flintstone's war club aka G&L Tribute neck
rasher80 replied to Andy Brice's topic in Bass Guitars
Its one of the reasons I moved mine on. Absolutely loved the sound and the tonal options but my God my hands hated that neck. It was like a log with strings on -
Wow. That is appalling.

Fender have never made what I have: Left handed P Bass Chambered body 32" scale Blocked and bound Jazz width neck A colour other than sunburst Put all those things together, it just doesn't exist left handed. You're lucky you could get 2 of those options on any left handed Fender made anywhere in the world including Japan. I've looked!
-
I'm bored of bursts though, they just leave me cold. Its either burst, natural or black for most lefties. I swore I'm not buying another burst bass and I'm sticking to it 😂
-
It's funny how it can go from one extreme to the other - one of the main factors which persuaded me to opt for a Jake was how much wateroftyne enthused about his - and listening to the sound clips obviously. I was a little nervous dropping the kind of money I'd run up on the bass I specc-ed but it's been a joy to play and is beautiful to look at - I got a really nice neck with a good bit of birds eye which I hadn't asked for. If I'd read this thread first, I wouldn't have one thrown at me now which is sad. I'm just lucky I didn't have any issues or it looks like I'd be on my own. Not good from Adrian / Public Peace
-
Think it's settled then. I had an inkling I was going to end this thread with a new bass 🤣
-
I could definitely get on board with that mindset!
-
I've been on the second thread a few times the last couple of days... I think that tells its own story!
-
Anyone know why these are differently priced? They look like the same bass to me... https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/170208307497008--music-man-sterling-ray4-black-lh-mn https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/190610344764008--music-man-sterling-sub-series-ray4-left-handed-black

Well that's how I've been feeling about it to be honest. I know that I want to give one a go and being a big fan of Bernard Edwards I'll definitely enjoy playing it! I love the black/black/maple combo and honestly don't know why I've not tried one before now. Plus if I ever rejoined an indie covers band it would fit the sound and look. Win win!

So here's the state of play... I'm a strictly "at home" player since I left my covers band and the kids came along. My lefty herd was thinned down to the bare bones, but since the start of the year it's grown a bit! 1. Maruszczyk Jake P/JJ 32" 2. Hofner Ignition w/ flats 3. Harley Benton B550 I'd always thought the first 2 would cover me in any scenario. I got the 5er to expand my playing as it's my first but I'd never be in a band where it would get much use. I've never had a Stingray but I really really want one. There are lefty SUB 4s kicking around for not too much Am I just being greedy having a load of instruments sat around only getting minimal play or should I scratch that itch???
-
I really want one but if a courier knocks on the door with another bass sized package, Mrs Rasher will highly likely batter me with it 🙈 Please let us know how you find it!

Cheers that's really kind of you. I have some family in Hemel so if I'm ever in the area I'll give you a shout 👍

I've yet to try a stingray... I suspect it will be one of the SUB range before long. Tempted by the 5 string 🤔
-
Yeah maybe it's the familiarity. Whilst learning I had a Squier P Special, so it's the combo of P sound and J neck which feels "right" to me. Unfortunately it's not a combination all that common in the lefty world. I toyed with the idea of buying a P and J and switching the necks until I baulked at the outlay it'd need
-
Looks great! How do you find the B string on the 30" scale?
-
It's sad to read this and I feel as though this is becoming a major PR own-goal for Adrian. With the quality of so-called budget basses as they are these days, this kind of poor QC at the Maruszczyk end coupled with the frankly bizarre response from the company is unacceptable. If I was about to put a deposit down right now for a bass I'd be saving for something else. I guess I got lucky with mine.
-
@WD1 how are you getting on with it now?
-
You'll have to post a review if you wouldn't mind please!
-
Cort B5 just sold on the 'bay for £180. Someone got a bargain!
-
Still loving mine. I'm starting to eye up other 5 strings but I wonder if I'll like them as much?
-
I don't know what hurts more, my eyes or my ears. I've always harboured an irrational hatred of Barlow & Williams and this does nothing to calm it!!
-
Has anyone got their hands on one of these yet?
-
I do love the look of a 70s Fender, they're definitely my favourite era looks-wise. I can't remember the exact model, but I'd love a lefty version of the bass Duff McKagan plays. Dunno if they were ever made, but I'd imagine they were rare as hen's teeth if so
-
Love this! Nice one @uk_lefty I wonder who'd snapped this up!
