1. I just find that most wedding DJ's play everything so loud its painful to be on the dancefloor. Its like a manhood thing for them. Personally I am always set to a reponsible volume for the delight and comfort of the punter
2. Just realised I only have a copy of that on cassette tape so give me a chance to dig it out and I'll get back to you.
3. I used to play the song a few years ago. If there's any bit you are stuck on I can revisit it for you. Not saying I played it right though but it seemed to work. Wazz
4. I would get a simple mixer with balanced outputs and then get a couple of RCF powered speakers (300w). Use this as more of a vocal, keyboard PA untill you have the funds to get 1 or 2 bass bins. If you want to get larger speakers eventually you can use the RCF's for monitors. Should be able to get it all for under £1000 including cables and speaker stands.
5. I wonder if the MU would be able to advise, assuming you are a member? It would be a long shot in any case. Would the potential damages be worth any court action or should you just put it down to experience? I think it would be best to persue it via Ebay and possibly the MU but drop it if it involves lawyers as winning on a principle would be costly. Whatever the outcome, give the dealer some seriously bad feedback. Wazz

South East Bash

Damn, cant make it the bash as I'm gigging oop north on the 18th. Perhaps the next bash could be on a sunday as I guess many of us work on Saturdays.
7. if you take it in the cabin, which I always do, backed up by my MU card, it should fit in the overhead lockers. A Hiscox case does anyway. I wouldn't consider travelling with a bass in any other case.
8. Wow quick release pickups? What a great idea!
9. Sorry, I dont have experience with the PUPs you describe. A quick chat with Mr Shuker would probably help though.
10. As this was featured in the April 3rd issue of the magazine and the video has a few obvious edits methinks this may be an April fool. Am I being cynical?
11. I'm happy to report that my strings arrived this morning from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/MyMusicStuff_W0QQ...sQ3amesstQQtZkm No nasty import tax either so I'm a happy chap. Cheers for the info Tempo. Wazz
12. 4+1 or 5 in a row, they are still great instruments
13. David, I have a 2006 Deluxe Jazz V with the 4+1 and prefer that look. However, I like the 5 in a row also, that being the arrangement on the first Jazz V I tried. Maybe its to do with balance, maybe its to do with keeping the look as original as possible with the elephant ear pegs. Wazz
14. Does anyone know when/why Fender changed the machine head alignment from 5 in a row to 4 and 1 on the Jazz V? Wazz
15. Toasted, I had a look at the site you use but they didn't have Fender strings. I wasn't sure that they were the strings I wanted when I started the thread but they sound great so why change. Cheers Wazz
16. Thanks for all the suggestions. I decided to go with Tempo's idea, bit the bullet with paypal and got 4 sets of Fender 8250/5m strings for £51.70 delivered. Lets hope the tax man dont demand a huge slice on delivery!
17. I have looked at those sites but wondered if there was some secret cheap place! The ebay site in the states looks interesting but I'm reluctant to get involved with Paypal.
18. Where do you find to be the best place to buy strings, particularly 5 string sets? wazz

New demos

Just recorded some new demos for the function band. The disco songs are the stingray with the East preamp. The other 2 are the new Am dx Jazz V. www.myspace.com/beatpartymusic For the full tracks click through to the bands website from myspace Cheers Wazz
20. I took delivery of a new one last bweek and I love it. Great sound, feel and build quality.
21. thanks for the thought.
22. Sorry its not strictly Bass related... Does anyone know of a reliable and competant drummer I can call upon for depping in my function band? Best if located in the south east although we do play all over the country. Cheers Wazz
23. The B string is cool. Got a real fat bottom end with no rattle through the amp. Whats more the B string is tonally like the other strings.
24. pm'd
25. I gigged and recorded with it this weekend. The sound was fantastic and I got a lot of positive comments. It will take a while to get really comfortable with it though after moving from 4 to 5 strings but the string spacing was one of the reasons I chose this bass as it is so similar to my stingray 4.
