  1. The award could be named "The Berlin Airport Award". https://m.dw.com/en/berlins-new-airport-finally-opens-a-story-of-failure-and-embarrassment/a-55446329
  2. I think the thread should remain Owen's, but the awards should be selected on an annual (or perhaps bi-annual) basis. There needs to be a proper award for the slowest build, as actually measured from start to completion, and interim awards for lack of progress. If no progress at all is made in three years, then the project may be considered "abandoned", and only reappear as a contender when something is done. I propose a suitability uncommitted committee to begin thinking about consulting on draft rules.
  3. 🤞🤞🤞 Not that you need luck.
  4. The first one of those describes itself as having " A leg locking mechanism that will leave your jaw on the floor". That's going to result in a trip to A&E. And now, back to the thread..
  5. I want to try one as well. But also I don't because they are quite pricey, I might really like it and I have taken up a new job near Abingdon which is getting a bit close to @FinnDave. Fortunately Boris has just saved the day and I won't be going anywhere for the next three months. #bloodythinsilverlining
  6. Paging @FinnDave, who has a very nice example for sale on these very pages.
  7. Welcome aboard! You have some very excellent gear there sir, so yes - now you need to learn to play. Or at the very least be able to noodle about to your own satisfaction. 😉 Sign up for completely free and excellent lessons at: StudyBass - Free interactive online bass lessons Or the ~£120/year excellent lessons and massive additional resources available at https://scottsbasslessons.com. I've used both and learnt loads. As others say, nothing wrong with having a collection, but being able to play them will let you enjoy them even more.
  8. "If it goes pear shaped then you @Jabba_the_gut, @Andyjr1515 et. al. can just build a new neck due to their considerable skill, time spent learning, toolset, innate ability etc. " I think the above is what he actually meant 😉
  9. Aha!! That's why these things are called $$! I always wondered what a "Double Dollar" style bass meant. 🤦‍♂️
  10. Some of those are great! Some however I cannot imagine being seen dead with: https://axedecals.com/shop/guitar-skins/religious/good-vs-evil-guitar-wrap-skin/
  11. Love the energy on the track and that little run down on the guitar part. 🕺
  12. My interface usually reports 63ms latency, but I was still out and estimated the total to actually be about 80. So I untick the "Use audio driver reported latency" and put in 80ms. That seems consistent, certainly more consistent than my playing! Reaper is fantastic VFM, you can install it on up to 5 machines for non-simultaneous use, and the license covers you for all the revisions of one major update.
  13. @owen, have you been watching "Paint Your Wagon?" (ignore the Spanish subtitles)
  14. I have had this for 40 years, ruddy nuisance! The best solution I find is to stay warm all over, if your core is warm then you don't get the trigger signal to shut down the circulation in your extremeties. Warm hat, gilet, good shoes - all make as much difference as gloves.
  15. Welcome aboard! Love the back of this bass!
  16. Morning, and welcome to the forums. Hopefully you'll still enjoy some semblance of university life despite "C-what-must-not-be-named" And if you can't get to the Uni bar because of the afore-mentioned, then blowing your loan on the marketplace here instead means at least there's something to show for it 😁
  17. https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ Ricky's Ashes.
  18. Could it be a "Hofnerfaker"? Actually made in Terry's Dad's shed in late '66 because the music shop couldn't get hold of the real thing? Loving this thread, both for the build and the research.
  19. If the air guitar is very long scale indeed it can incorporate real live swifts.
  20. Paint it to match the Father Christmas on the sideboard!
  21. There is another video somewhere, I'll look for it. I only play a 4, but quickly fell into sliding my thumb down the strings similar to this. This wasn't the video that gave me the idea.
