  1. Out of interest, what strings are recommended? I assume something bright so that the modelling algorithm has a full range of requencies capturing the performance to start with? So glad this is a 5 not a 4, otherwise I really would be interested and trying to justify it to myself. GLWTS! 👍
  2. I've got into the practice of creating two copies of a receipt of sale and collection, with photographs of the item and serial numbers, and asking the buyer to sign for collection and I sign for sale. I tell them straight that it protects both of us, and gives them something to show the insurance in the event of the item being stolen. Everyone has been very happy to sign, though one chap I didn't entirely trust and I discretely photographed his car on my drive as well. (Not this item btw)
  3. By random coincidence I happened to read the original Sound On Sound review of this at lunchtime today and promptly spent the next conference call trawling the web to find out more about them. Seems they were only discontinued recently.
  4. Shania Twain "Come on Over" as it's the next CD on the rack after Teenage Fanclub. Did she really take her stage name from Technology Without An Interesting Name, used for Windows scanner drivers in the 1990s?
  5. He's probably capable of making an invisible repair if he did!
  6. Mould. Mold is for TalkBass. Either way its very impressive!
  7. If it were fretless then it would be properly all black. But you would never find it on a dark stage.
  8. https://bassgears.com/collections/biarnel/products/biarnel-prassi-neroneronero I prefer yours though.
  9. A colleague of mine is from Northern Iran. He currently has a 4.5kg Toblerone sitting at his UK house, waiting for when he can fly back to Iran and take it to his family. We pointed out that it looks like a bazooka and he will never get it through customs to Iran!
  10. Read that as black tapeworms. Eugh!
  11. Harry The Plank would have approved!
  12. Things I remember from woodwork lessons: measure twice and mark up clearly, always cut on the wastewood side of the line, planing anything square is sodding difficult. Planing it square and not ½" undersized is sodding impossible! Well done!
  13. I threw out the linseed oil I used on my school cricket bat some years ago. Still got the bat, though I hardly used it at school. I could probably string it and put pickups on it, would get more use!
  14. I went with the F-one fretboard conditioner, which should arrive in the next couple of days. Will report back.
  15. Never heard of that. Got some brown sauce in the cupboard though. I went with F-one fretboard conditioner, which should arrive in the next couple of days. Will report back.
  16. Strictly speaking a birthday present, but my birthday is so close to Father's Day that they tend to get merged. Very pleased 😁
  17. If you end up with a bass so black it resembles Disaster Area's stuntship then remember to plunge it into the sun at the end of the concert!
  18. Will be following this with interest.
  19. Thanks for that. Look forward to the video - especially as when we are eventually allowed out of our bubbles my son wants me to accompany him to buy an acoustic guitar 👍
  20. Now THAT is the word for the weekend! Especially if playing scrabble. More seriously, when you say it "rings like a bell", do you hold it by a corner and tap it? What happens if it goes "donk" at this stage?
  21. Both! See my earlier post on your bench vs an Aston Martin V8 Vantage 😁
  22. I have just googled this on Benchcrafted. No wonder I was confused, the thing is completely misnamed. According to their site is it an X shaped device compromising two hinged arms, which keeps the bench jaws parallel. Quick history lesson: St.Peter was crucified upside down, so St Peter's Cross is an inverted cross. You see it on old parish churches of St Peter. St Andrew was crucified on an X shaped cross, which is why the Scottish Saltaire is a white X. Both symbols are well known within the Christian, and especially Catholic, tradition. I had assumed the St Peter's cross in this device was an inverted cross, somehow bracing the lower part of the leg. Clearly the St Peter's cross in this case was misnamed by someone and in ignorance it stuck. https://www.classichandtools.com/acatalog/BenchCrafted-Crisscross-Retro-BC-CCR.html#SID=1821
