Welcome aboard!

PM Me when you're happy with your new kit. While you may have stayed in, I may be going out 😅
-
You're definitely still in. Especially if you want to ship me the old units as a bribe set for an extended review to test compatibility with other sets 😅

Oooh! Is that what they mean my "hammer on" in the "Technique" section??

I was given these by @Mottlefeeder at last year's Midlands Bass Bash, so that I could repair a speaker with a blown crossover. In the end we had to replace that speaker completely, so these are now free to a good home. The guts of a Studiospares Fortissimo 10" PA speaker, 10" driver, horn driver, crossover, grill, and assorted nuts and bolts. Also the crossover circuit from a Soundcraft 12" speaker. Free for the cost of postage (I've not weighed them), or collect from Solihull. I'm probably working in Milton Keynes quite a lot for the next few months, so can also meet up near there, or somewhere between the two. Any questions then please ask, though I know 5/10 of nothing at all about speakers 🙂

Removed from my car about 20 years ago, and sat boxed in the garage ever since. Of course once I get rid of this I may actually buy the classic car I always intended to put it in - but that's a chance I'll have to take 🙂 Unit is a Sony xr-CA670X which is 4x50W standard head unit. Faceplate is removable. The CD changer is a CDX-656, and the lead to the head unit is long enough to go from the boot of a 306 estate to the dash. I took it out of the car when I sold it, as it sounded absolutely awesome and I wanted to fit it into another car. That never happened. Free for the cost of postage, or meet up near Solihull (or potentially near Milton Keynes or between the two, depending on my travelling to client sites). Any questions then please ask.

I am definitely unable to make this, no matter how I juggle the days. @rwillett - pinch an idea from the SW thread and put the date and location postcode in the title, and then the complete details with postcode, Google maps and What3Words references, any directions etc. plus start and end times at the start of the first post. Looking forward to the photos. I'll post my works event ones here too. Not!!

Was: From the ashes of disaster...now various projects

If you Google "Ashcrete" there are many types and uses. Bass Guitars don't figure on any lists.... yet! -
Welcome aboard! Clearly you have lived a decent and honest upright life...

Pi$$ed myself laughing 🤣 It is truly awful, but doesn't induce hate, and I would definitely rather be stuck on a desert island with that rather than "Imagine"

Sadly not a lot of practice at the moment 😞. I mainly play in the worship bands at church, but I also run the livestream and other tech. Due to a couple of people having to drop out on the tech side I can't see myself getting to play in the next few months, and I'm not terribly good at practicing unless it's for a service. What I need to do is to get a list of songs together and just force myself to play them properly. And unlearn a couple of bad habits.

I think I've seen them painted in on a completely solid body instrument. Probably somewhere on this site.

This is the sort of thing I meant, the white binding on an old Rick

That looks like a slippery slope to 3D printed fake binding 😁

🎶 "It's the Time of the Fivers It's the thrill of the Five Rising up to the challenge of our rivals And even Jaco, with a butter knife, couldn't deny That for some, it's the time..... Of the Fivers!" 🎶 (sorry, it's been a long day)

Welcome aboard. Lots to chat about here. What are you playing at the moment?
-
I was chatting with an old friend in the week. We both play 5 strings in worship bands and for the same reason - it's easier playing 5 than than playing 4. Transposing songs is easy, you don't have to remember chord shapes with open strings, songs in Eb aren't a problem, and occasionally you get to properly shake the room. But if I had the chance to own a particular 4 string I played a while back, I'd sell all my gear in a heartbeat to fund it. It's what moves you and makes you want to play well.

I also missed this post. I never met Old Horse Murphy in person but enjoyed his posts and threads immensely. RIP, Sir.

What are you listening to right now?

A few years back on another thread about deps and joining bands, someone kindly offered to post a link to the list they sent their deps, which was the list of songs, keys, chord charts and links to videos. I was trying to find it earlier this year to get some inspiration for practicing things I would never normally play, but couldn't find the thread, or the post. Was it anyone on this thread, and if so would she/he be able to post it again?

DIY walk up performer stand. Design input and suggestions please!
Richard R replied to solo4652's topic in General Discussion
What an excellent idea! And as others said above - well done. -
Said innocent basschatter would be stuffed regardless of the quality of brief they could afford- the rules are at the top of the thread and have stayed fundamentally the same for years. Plus if she or he is in any sense a gigging musician then chances are they can barely afford a pair of briefs in these straightened circumstances, let alone one with a wig.
