  1. Scuba instructor, astronomer, maker, designer, programmer, sometime bass player. Bloody polymaths! Coming onto our forums and making the rest of us feel inadequate! Send 'em home, or Mensa. Incompetent of Solihull. šŸ˜‰
  2. Lead shot as ballast. You print a box that exactly slots into one of the holes, and has a close fitting lid. Add lead shot to balance, then glue the shot in place, the lid on the box, and the box in the hole. You could use more than one infill for extra weight or distribution. Lead from fishing suppliers, or some other heavy stuff if you prefer.
  3. Very true. But you don't see many paint brushes on the gallery walls, only the masterpieces created with them. Maybe our new museum should have headphones to listen to great music, and a couple of rooms with concert-level systems in for the bands whose greatest works were all live?
  4. I have just caught up with this. It looks fab! If you wanted to go a step too far, then cutting parts of the neep logo all the way through the wood would let out the red light from the psu LED.
  5. Still in. Procrastination over an acoustic I was interested in meant that someone else bought it. I hope to adopt much the same technique all year. Plus I've just seen the estimate for getting rid of the red warning lights on my car dashboard! šŸ˜±
  6. Indeed he was. He and Stephen Fry used to get all excited over the latest Apple Macintosh releases and rave about them everywhere. Of course they had the income to buy them!
  7. I do like your style!
  8. šŸ‘ That's the documentation department. Just next to the display department ( which is in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard')
  9. Hi all, Just realised I didn't close this thread out. I asked the wife to get me for Christmas, the TS101 and a 24V DC power supply I can keep with it. https://www.unmannedtechshop.co.uk/product/ts101-soldering-iron-b2/ It's excellent, heats up so much faster than my old one and is much more controllable. I have to be careful not to accidentally push the buttons while soldering and up the temperature though, fat fingers! It's too thin for my old spiral stand, but it comes with a little plastic stand which keeps the tip up and stops it rolling. It will run off a USB C laptop supply no problem too. Very pleased, and thank you all for the suggestions. šŸ‘
  10. Very Impressive! I console myself that, while I will never play bass like that, he can't do my job. And mistakes there have bigger consequences than any on stage.
  11. Looking forward to the album coming out.
  12. Looks fabulous! Can you post links to video clips from the tour if there are any?
  13. Excellent! Next step, to remove all variables and uncertainty in tone, is 3D printed plucker and fretters driven by fast motors under computer control responding to MIDI. That takes out that pesky player who keeps saying "the tone is in the fingers" Seriously though - great stuff and very, very impressive!
  14. MusicBee doesn't use folder.jpg for album art, so it's out of the running. WinAmp is good, and is ehat O have used the past few days. Is here a way to make it respond to media keys on the keyboard? A mini view between the bike interface and the really thin one would be nice, but not important. Will be trying foobar today. Thanks again everyone.
  15. Currently playing with WinAmp and MusicBee. I'll checkout Foobar as well. šŸ‘
  16. I'll have to check that out. I use VLC as the player on my phone. I don't think it will automatically shuffle all albums though. I'll take another look at the PC version. The version if iTunes I have is from about 2007, and is only used to back up an iPad of the same vintage (which isn't used for music!) Windows Media Player Classic is just as old, so I'll look at iTunes too. Thanks for the suggestions- any more?
  17. I have a very simple request. Is there a media player for Windows 11 that does the following: Does not overwrite the metadata for my files at random Uses folder.jpg as album art where it is in the folder Plays mp3, flac, and all the usual subjects from local files. (Media server or network shares optional) Does playlists etc. AND Does random album shuffle. That is, randomly picks an album, plays the tracks in order, and then picks another album at random Most of the time I just use the classic Windows Media Player as I like the layout and being able to see the current queue as well as browsing albums, but I would really like to have it chose albums at random when I'm working. The only thing I've found was Music Bee (a few years back), but it wasn't great. Any suggestions anyone?
  18. I rather like that. I don't need it, but good luck with the sale. šŸ‘
  19. Straight to the Famous Quotes thread šŸ¤£
  20. CAB physics is too complicated for me these days. In fact, spelling AMP or CAB is beyond me most of the time too, so I just DI and PA. Fewer letters, plus it's then the sound man's problem šŸ˜‰
  21. Welcome aboard! No idea is anyone in the US has built the BC112 but, as you've probably already realised, @Phil Starr is the CAB man.šŸ˜
  22. While I am sure that the builder here does not partake*, there are some that must surely be on drugs. "Luthier's Lucy" maybe?
  23. I meant if you lurk round your neighbour's house prying on their behaviour you might learn things about them you're not supposed to, or really didn't want to! I've just noticed you're in Norway, I apologise in advance for the English schoolboy humour!
  24. +100 for getting the rhyme correct.
  25. Just seen this. Hats off to him! He's making stuff for his own benefit, flogging the assembled parts so they don't clutter up the house, and someone is happy to pay Ā£16 for it. Sounds OK to me, as long as I don't have to play it.
