  1. Whoever is in the band on Sunday has rehearsal Thursday or Friday before the service. We (almost) solved the problem of different versions of songs by always specifying the CCLI number for the version we're playing and downloading from there. Then if we change we can at least all change together! Twelve piece band rehearsal for Christmas Eve tonight. I'm neither playing nor on any tech this year, so I intend to enjoy the service and worship loudly and inaccurately. 👼
  2. Thanks for posting the detailed photos. I can see now why you want to finish it further, the top edge would annoy me too. Though I would probably just sand it. I would cheat with the pickguard too, glue two screheads flat over the holes rather than print a new one, and just trim that excess foil back with a sharp blade. Overall though, it still looks the business. Now it just depends on whether you want a perfect finish, or a "post manufacture pre-reliced" look.
  3. Absolutely superb! Can you post some close-ups too?
  4. You have no idea how much that sentence has cheered me up, knowing it's not just me. Half an inch out isn't a big deal on laying a lawn - it sure is on a fretboard 😁
  5. Fabulous song, and a great bass line. See also: https://youtu.be/VbZsNzML5T4?si=Al5zE19A1bxQTl5t
  6. Well if that's a key part of the rock-and-roll fantasy then I hope the back surgery works !😉 Welcome the the forum
  7. Welcome aboard! Lots of DB/EUB and jazz fans here 🙂
  8. I can't remember the last time I was there - and I didn't know it had a gig area!
  9. Which pub?
  10. If this doesn't sell here then try Reverb. My Cymatic recorder sat here for months but sold in a week there. GLWTS!
  11. That's quite a thing to have just up in the attic! Looking forward to a New Bass Day post from @daveybass 😁
  12. Thank you, @Stub Mandrel. That sent me down an Internet rabbit hole of large musical instruments, strange musical instruments in science fiction, strange musical instruments in reality, and various other diversions. I have resurfaced bearing this completely irrelevant but amusing link for everyone: https://www.classicfm.com/discover-music/latest/weirdest-musical-instruments/ Enjoy.
  13. I've found that everyone is always very respectful of each others' gear and generous with their own. I have played Dingwalls, Walls, Alembics (!), Swifts,AGCs, Overwaters,... all sorts of expensive or irreplaceable instruments. None of which I would ever have been able to compare or play anywhere else.
  14. Following, though it's unlikely I will be there. Things to do on the day: Play basses Talk rubbish, sometimes about basses Eat cake Have a raffle (donated musical odds and sods, proceeds to charity) Have some sort of demo/comparison/talk thing, preferably related to basses Talk more Take photos Help pack up Drive home happy.
  15. I would create a new thread called NW Bash Bash 2024, so it's clear there is a new event being planned. The mods can pin it so it doesn't get lost, and then when you have a date you can update the title with that as well. They'll be a Midlands 2024 thread started when I get round to it.
  16. TBC, as it requires us to actually pick a date. The last one was 22 April, which seemed to be OK, and Easter is a week earlier this year. If May works for you then we'll avoid May and look at either April of June. 20-25 people is a good number for a bash, don't worry if it's fewer. And it's not a competition 😁
  17. Yes! Just need to get ourselves organised!
  18. Mid May is when we were possibly looking at a Midlands Bash, but as it happens that is chaotic for me already. Following this thread so we don't clash. 👍 @petecarlton FYI.
  19. I don't know if Ped will repeat this run, but they are perfect.
  20. Welcome aboard! I have a soft spot for "Southern Rock", as it gets called, and I do like Blackberry Smoke. They played my home town of Birmingham, England last year and I missed them. ☹️
  21. Welcome aboard! Photos please - that's a lovely collection .
  22. Thanks @sandy_r. I couldn't remember if it was a separate bolt-on neck or was a single piece of wood for body and neck. Like a through-neck but without anything to go through. Looking at the headstock end it is now obvious there are the little maple "wings" just beyond the nut. 🙂
  23. Slightly off the main topic- what wood is the Sinsonido made from? And is it one piece with the neck?
  24. The writer has now created lead line and chord charts, so if you want to try it out I'll get copies over.
  25. This is super impressive. It's almost a shame that you're going to fill the seams and paint it, having all the structure and guts on show would be great.
