  1. These remind me of Trillian's steadily dropping probability readings when Ford and Arthur are picked up by The Heart of Gold. "Probability 3:1, 2:1, 1:1. We have normality. I repeat, we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem."
  2. Ignore the pic, this IS the thread I meant.
  3. There's a thread somewhere on @Andyjr1515 using richlite for a fingerboard. If I remember correctly it was hard work, so worth checking it out.
  4. A long, long, time ago I used to.work for a part of Lucas Industries that researche and made optical sensors. Some were very clever, some were very good. But I was left with the opinion that if there is ever a straight choice between optical and electrical sensors, the latter will be simpler, more effective, more efficient, and more reliable.
  5. NB: Not to be confused with furtle.
  6. Adjust slightly, usually in the context of manually changing the shape of something a bit to make it fit properly. Pretty much the antithesis of CAD and CNC machining. 😁
  7. This type also doubles as a metronome/gig-saver: When the battery starts to get low you have to play faster to ensure you finish the set before you go silent, so the flashes set the tempo.
  8. Big airship, if it needs TWO TE combos to keep it down.
  9. But, alas, almost no pubs left to gig in. 😢
  10. I think the 2020 rules said that gifts were OK, provided they were unprompted and you had no say in the matter. If that means you're out, then frankly who cares? It's a fabulous bass, and a really nice present.
  11. I once had a client which was a large chemical manufacturer who had bought a number of other businesses. For their standard corporate reporting they required everything converting to US Gallons. Which was fair enough for bulk material, but one company made photolithographic sheets, which were sold by the square metre. I honestly can't remember if we just made up a thickness, but they didn't seem to understand that there was no direct conversion factor.
  12. I do love the mix of imperial and metric units on machine tools and bits: '1/2" (12.7mm) diameter with 8mm depth of cut'
  13. That looks alright to me. Though I do agree with you, the back looks really smart.
  14. What does the front look like? Surely it can't be too bad?
  15. Sounds fairly generic, until 1:04 when the flautist walks in, plays a little melody, then goes berserk! Mr Williams was clearly a massive Jethro Tull fan.
  16. Actually it's 5 string and while the neck is lost in the glare it looks like the tuners are at the bridge end, making it headless. On the right track? A 5 string headless at least narrows it down a bit, and it's not Status-shaped.
  17. Welcome aboard! No idea about the bass, but hope you find what you want in the marketplace here. 😁
  18. Which have the better tone - AF, Whitworth, or Metric?
  19. Like that - consider it pinched 😁
  20. Clearly they don't want it to fall off! 😃
