  1. That sounds like an excellent way to live. I own 2 2nd hand basses, one was £275, one was £450. Both are better instruments than I am a player. There is an Ovation Magnum 1 that I would really like to own, at about £1600; but I'd probably hate it 😄
  2. When I press "return " on my phone when replying on Basschat it inserts tens of the damn' things. No other site, no idea why.
  3. A very smart looking bass. Hopefully you won't get stuffed at customs on import duty - I guess you don't have the original receipt for €275

  5. Welcome aboard!
  6. I probably could funk it up, but I would more likely f--k it up, so best not to try...
  7. It's a good song that we've done a few times and the congregation seem to like. Not the funkiest, though 😅
  8. https://songselect.ccli.com/Songs/4785835/hosanna/viewchordsheet CCLI number 4785835 on Song Select But you'll need a login to download the chords and music.
  9. Just a thought - if you're in Birmingham then you have the resources of the jewellery quarter at your disposal. They may not be luthiers, but there are plenty of specialists at intricate delicate work.
  10. I hate you @Andyjr1515! I am quite deliberately taking a break from social media and most non-work web browsing, including BC. I was doing well, even closing tabs that I'd opened inadvertently. Then I saw the title of this thread and just had to read it all. Is there a Build Diary Readers Anonymous? With a 12 fret programme? As always, absolutely fabulous work.
  11. Dropping out for a while. Catch up again nearer Christmas.

Looking forward to seeing you return rested and refreshed.

  12. Do you want the last two?
  13. Welcome aboard!
  14. Very nice. A couple of LEDs set behind the Pickguard and the whole body could gently glow with internal illumination.
  15. Looks good on stage 👌
  16. Step away from the fish puns now! And also the Monty Python videos....
  17. Hopefully you don't play with your bass hung down by your crotch. Otherwise, with the bass camouflaged in denim against your jeans, people may be unsure what your fingers are doing. A small risk, but nonetheless one that should be considered.
  18. Welcome aboard!! Scotts Bass Lessons is excellent, but his style is not to everyone 's taste. A genuinely free and excellent site is StudyBass.com. Few videos, but very good explanations. Definitely check out the first sessions on holding the bass, using the strap, hand positioning and avoiding injury. Especially the latter. And enjoy yourself!
  19. Welcome aboard. There are a lot of church and worship bassists on BC. In fact there is a long running Playing In Church thread which is worth picking up. ( Though sometimes it is a bit of a "safe space" to vent frustration 😬). You could repost.or link to this question there and get some additional views. If the hymnal includes the chords above the stave then you can work from those, or if the songs are out of copyright then there may be chord charts available in the correct key on CCLI or the US equivalent.
  20. Welcome aboard.
  21. This is exactly the sort of can-do and will-do attitude that we need in these desperate times. And of course that means another build diary 🥳
  22. I was sent this image on WhatsApp this just now, which coincidentally is an accurate analogy of my playing this evening. Well intentioned but with a fundamental problem...
  23. This will be an absolute corker! Shame I can't make it - have a great time. Would it be possible to record @Kingbassist's talk? Sounds like it would be really interesting.
