An excellent solution, and a very smart looking instrument. Great sound on the YT clips on your site. I rather fancy copying your idea and I know where there is an unused rather tired kick-drum knocking about. (Un)fortunately it won't fit in my car. Is the bridge attached to the front drum skin, that's not clear from the photos.

Those are cool! Sound clips please! Oh, and welcome aboard

Stompz - A Zoom compatible programmable midi stomp controller

^^^^ THIS is so important ^^^^^ I have very senior IT positions in multinationals on my CV, but am applying for much lower level roles in SMEs, because I can get stuck in more (and ideally bike to work). Trying to explain this to recruiters is very hard. Rocket science is fun too, but a lot more maths than IT 😎 -
The Big Fat South-West Bass Bash 2022 - Sunday 9th October

That's comprehensive. 😁 I was thinking of fewer columns with more numerical analysis. Based on a similar thing donkey's years ago, if it takes more than a minute to enter details then people won't bother. I'll mock up something over the weekend and see what people think. -
The Big Fat South-West Bass Bash 2022 - Sunday 9th October

Is anyone bringing a Wal? I'd like to know what all the fuss is about. Also, would there be any interest is a sort of "Bass Weigh" station? I was thinking along the lines of bringing a luggage scale and a laptop with a spreadsheet already written. Weigh your bass, add it to the sheet (Make, scale, #strings, wood or other details if known maybe), and then we'll have some stats and charts showing possibly interesting information. -
Genuine question- what is is about Wals that is so appealing? There are at least three threads on building basses to sound like a Wal, and the real things sell new for £££. Clearly I need to play one.

UPDATED 18th October '22 --‐--------------------------- Date now confirmed as: Saturday 22 April 2023. Location confirmed as: Radford Care, Prospect Street, Radford, Nottingham, NG7 5QE https://www.radfordcaregroup.org.uk/prospect-street/ Exact times and costs TBC. ‐-------- Alas there was no 2022 Midlands Bass Bash. 😢 @jebroad had organised the 2019 and 2021 events with style, but has moved to pastures new so the venue wasn't available for 2022 and the event didn't happen. For 2023 we need to get organised. Otherwise those folks down in Surrey and Somerset will be gloating! First we need a venue: Do people have preferences or suggestions? @petecarlton will look into a venue near Nottingham, I can look around the M42 east of Birmingham. Anyone else have a possible venue? As for dates: the last two were in May, and I seem to recall they being on the bank holiday weekend. A Saturday in April maybe? (Almost) all suggestions welcome

Yep, good point. I posted here to close out on the question I posed in March, but we need a new thread.

I've come to the conclusion that the hall is perfect, but the load in/out of 20 vehicles with n+1 instruments each will be a right pain. ☹️ As we have missed this year then I suggest planning for March/April/May next year. Does anyone know of a suitable venue, or shall I look for something just off the M42?

There's a song they do called "Oil my neck". I wish they wouldn't. -

Slurry and Buff: Slurry and Buff are a double act comprising a young farmer and a male model. Slurry plays the piano and pretends to be somewhat laviscious and drunk, Buff sings the songs wearing a tux but no shirt. Their rendition of "I've got a brand new combine harvester" has women of all ages go weak at the knees. Bookings now being taken for the Christmas season. -
Do you think you will get any fewer gigs playing a 4 string look-a-like compared to the real thing or a replica? Do you think the fans who come will throw things at you if you play a 4 with a false headstock, or just be mightily impressed that you took the time to look the part? I would go with @3below's suggestion. And keep looking.
