Welcome aboard! There are lots of people here who can advise on beginning double bass, but I'm not one of them. Best head over to where the hep cats like@Owen hang out. 😎
  2. That I like a lot! The upper horn and cutout give it a slightly more aggressive look than the typical Steinberger copy, as well as being functional design.
  3. Tickets for Nick Mason apparently arrived today, for 22nd. Really looking forward to the gig, though touched with sadness that the guy who organised the tickets - back in September 2019 - has since died.
  4. That's one heck of an effects pedal!
  5. This cheered up my morning 😁 However the Spotify link may not work, so here's the live version with intro:
  6. I agree with the others, suggest playing the recorded track so the kids can dance to what they know and have more confidence, and give yourselves a break for that song.
  7. One of my all time favourite albums. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  8. If I ever play fretless and need a custom build, I'll be right over πŸ‘
  9. Or make them transparent polycarbonate and light them from below.
  10. I know you can adjust the string height individually, but do you buy a Schaller 3D bridge that matches the fretboard radius? That seems to be the only measurement missing from the drawing.
  11. I missed this album when it came out, decided I should find out what all the fuss was about.
  12. As a song It's obviously bolted together - as DG says himself he had to do a "rock god" bit in the middle! - but I bought it anyway. It's grown on me, and worth the 99p. It also prompted me to make a proper donation, so clearly in this case it's achieved exactly what was intended.
  13. There's a 5 string version?? Will keep an eye out if I ever see one of those available. Looks fab, and it's a Yamaha so will be well made and sound great. Good luck with the sale!
  14. Welcome back! Selling or buying, building or modding, playing or nattering, all are welcome back in the halls of Basschat 😎
  15. Probably true. Though people have been known to wish that I was somewhere on the Pennine Way rather than on stage with them... πŸ˜₯
  16. I'm watching with interest. I'm in the planning stage of a workshop at the bottom of the garden, but it's only about 30m to go for power and ethernet, so I can trench that myself. For your 60+m run with four utilities, getting in a specialist company seems like an excellent decision!
  17. The Gilmour interview with the Guardian explains why he felt the need to record this, and use the Pink Floyd name: β€˜This is a crazy, unjust attack’: Pink Floyd re-form to support Ukraine | Pink Floyd | The Guardian
  18. If you're running utilities, then run wired ethernet as well. Cat6 from your routed to the studio, then a wifi point there. It will be a million times more reliable.
  19. The problem is that NONE of the bass cases have a waist strap like a rucksack. Even a titchy 20l rucksack has a waist strap and it makes a difference. I can carry well over the 10kg of my Armourdillo case+bass in my expedition rucksack no problem- because the hips take the weight and the shoulder straps provide stability. While the Armourdillo is OK, I wouldn't go for a hike with it.

    Hi!

    Welcome aboard!
  21. So did I. I think this and "Eliza Holt" are my two favourite songs, but the whole album is great.
  22. That is what Andy is trying to avoid isn't it? Unrelated news - I have permission from my better half to build a workshop at the end of the garden!πŸ˜ƒ
  23. I came across some luminous powder a while back, but I can't find it at all now. I seem to recall it was used to fill outline shapes, then epoxied over (something like that anyway) I googled "Luminous powder" but all I got was some sort of make-up! https://www.lookfantastic.com/l-oreal-paris-true-match-powder-glow-illuminating-highlighter-golden-glow-9g/11708609.html
