  1. You started this thread in Jan 2020, I bet you never expected then to wait nearly 18 months before playing live with the band!
  2. Very impressive! I'm surprised that the printed components have the required strength. Most of what I've seen printed has next to no strength and certainly wouldn't hold anything under tension.
  3. Worst case scenario- Trampa has become sentient and taken over the CNC machine to create an army of killer instruments. S'manth has had to take on Sarah Connor's role and is fighting back with the mantra "There is no bass but what we make". Sorry, it's been a long day.
  4. I don't think this has already been posted, apologies if it has. I do like Tim Hawkins' parodies, and his guitar playing on this is excellent. Probably not representative of any of our Sunday services though. 🙃

Does your father-in-law want a vintage lawnmower? I'm trying to imagine the look of bemused politeness if he actually expected a Joni Mitchell CD.
  6. Welcome aboard! I wouldn't worry about being human or not. Nip over to the Den of Iniquity thread, and you'll quickly realise that many humans talk absolute rubbish!
  7. Welcome aboard! Never to late to start on bass 😉
  8. Welcome aboard!
  9. At the other extreme is the bass player from Hayseed Dixie. He's enormous, and the vast acoustic bass he plays looks like a toy. Great band live btw!
  10. I listened through all my CDs in lockdown, alphabetical by artist, chronological within artist. There were some that didn't make much on an impact 30 years after I bought them but surprisingly few stinkers. Lemon Jelly however was utter tosh, despite the reviews.
  11. Really nice looking guitar. I especially like the pick guard shape.
  12. Good point. In my defence, I wear particularly thick socks, so the approximation to a planar surface doesn't apply.* * he says, quickly thinking on his feet.
  13. See the Big SW Bass Bash in the Events listing
  14. Welcome aboard! 🇫🇷🇬🇧🎸

  18. To be mind-numbingly pedantic and tedious, a normal new sock is topologically identical to a flat sheet, is has just been pressed into a shape. Same topology as a tumbler, a bowl, or a vase. So it has no hole. Once it has (one) hole then it's the same as a doughnut. The important question is: cotton or bamboo for the best tone on a folk gig?
  19. Thank you @neepheid. Since reading that I have had "Apostrophe Army", to the tune of Elvis Costello's "Oliver's Army" stuck in my head.
  20. Everybody looks up or down at some other people. It's human nature. Sadly.
  21. "I've got a 1968 clarinet reed that still has Acker Bilk's spit on it. Never clean it in case it takes away the mojo from my playing"
  22. Very sad to hear people on the receiving end of snide comments at gigs. I wouldn't dream of commenting negatively on someone's gear, unless perhaps it was so bad it was out of tune and unreliable.
  23. Nothing organised. Jamie isn't able to organise it as he's moved away. I looked at my church halls, but the parking is awkward. Hopefully we can sort something out.
