  1. I definitely see more 5 string basses at churches than in the wild, other than theatre bands. I suspect it's because it's easier to transpose keys and play songs in Eb. That was my logic anyway. And of course because they are more common you're more likely to see one and try it and so they persist. Brawley Artemis 5 active through-neck, either DI straight into the desk or via cheap but effective Behringer amp sim which the other bassist (passive Westfield) always uses as its also an active DI. IEMs for both us on bass and slowly getting the musicians in other bands to follow. Desk is a Qu32, bought having seen the one at @Owen's church amongst others, I do my own monitor mix but that isn't common yet.
  2. My kids hate me when I deliberately mangle songs and my version gets stuck in their heads. Now I know how they feel. Brilliant! 😂
  3. Obviously it's quite normal for rock and pop, but I have never thought of worship albums being first recorded with guide vocals.
  4. You're still in.
  5. Welcome home!
  6. Welcome aboard! +1 for SBL, though I really should use it more to get my money's worth.
  7. I've been wanting that emoji for ages. Can we get it added to the site selection.
  8. A friend of mine banned a song at her church on the simple grounds of "what the hell was the writer thinking of, and didn't he notice what he has written?". You know the one: "Jesus take me as I am, I can come no other way". 😳
  9. I can't go to Ikea any more after a friend changed a line in Cornerstone to "I dare not trust the Swedish Frame". And my mother used to replace "Gladly, the cross I'd bear" with "Gladly the cross-eyed bear"
  10. I shall sue you, sir, for damages caused my laugh-induced coughing fit!
  11. Could have been worse, you could have read the thread and suddenly remembered you were buggered in Yorkshire in 1978. 😲
  12. That seems rather appropriate somehow 🙂
  13. Straight Outta Conwy
  14. I've been watching the service, quite forgot I was supposed to look out for your bass playing. Pass on my compliments to the preacher and everyone involved, I enjoyed the service. And especially do pass on my regards to your tech team on the sound, camera work and stream quality all top notch and therefore completely unnoticeable. I know from the last two years it takes a lot of effort to get the tech good enough that nobody even notices anymore! On a completely different note - does anyone else have a problem with hearing the lyric "He aids us against the Enemy" as "He aids us against the NME"? No, thought not, it is just me ☹️
  15. Fabulous looking instrument! The gold is fine, nothing wrong with a little bit of bling here and there. 🌟
  16. All about the cakes, about the cakes, no nibbles.
  17. Last time I was skiing, a good few years ago. However we have booked for February! 😃
  18. We might need a handwash station, queuing system,...
  19. If there are no takers, see if your local charity shop wants them rather than tipping them. Our British Heart Foundation shop likes getting sets of magazines, apparently they always sell on well.
  20. And occasionally delivering awesome bass prayers!
  21. Interesting - Can you post a link?
  22. What a strange and excellent show! Thanks for that, I shall make my cooking mad daughter watch The Great British Bass Off sketch. 😎
  23. Isn't Spotify wonderful? I would never have come across Guru Guru otherwise!
  24. Ah well, you're excused. If you had already bought two Sadowski's and an Overwater then that would be different 😁 I do know what you mean about spending more time with things you like though. The bass I first bought was a Brawley Artemis, but for some reason I knew I would want the 5 string version. When one came up here I had to buy it, even though I wasn't really good enough to buy another. The 4 string is a lovely instrument but hasn't been played since. And I in September I may have swapped a Ford S-Max for a 2006 Jaguar XK 4.2l mid-life-crisis. Like your bike, I could never take it even close to the limits, but I think it is a really beautiful piece of design and engineering.
