As we seem to be settled on 4th September, can @jebroad update the title of the thread? Or is that tempting fate...?

Amp repair, thermal paste recommendation
Richard R replied to Richard R's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thanks. I know pastes come with different W/m^2/β°C ratings, so that was my main concern. -
Evening all, I'm replacing a couple of damaged input sockets on a friend's Fender 85 amp, nice easy soldering job, no high voltages. As you can see from the photo, taken before further disassembly, there are two amp chips firmly bonded to a piece of aluminium. This is attached to another thicker block (which isn't visible), bolted through the aluminum back plate of the housing. (Which is labelled "warning gets hot in operation", or something like that). So the metal back plate, thicker block, and visible aluminum comprise the entire heat sink. I had to remove the back plate and block to get to the solder side of the circuit, and noted thin tranparent grease between each layer. I assume this was thermal paste, but all the paste I have used has been white, more like that visible on the chips. So the question is, is there a minimum spec or recommendation for thermal paste to use when reassembling? I have a little tube suitablebfor CPU heatsinks, but I think something better is required? This is an 85W amp. Many thanks, as ever.

Forgotten Albums which future generations will appreciate.
Richard R replied to TheGreek's topic in General Discussion
Was that underappreciated when it came out?? One of the best albums ever, I practically wore my copy out! Not a duff track on it and you can hear the fun they are all having. Plus you get to hear one of the all time finest vocalists in pop - Roy Orbison - singing with one of the worst ever - Bob Dylan π -

Camel - Stationary Traveller. Just superb Rick Wakeman - 1984. Wakeman doesn't like it. Tim Rice wrote the lyrics but his name is teenyweeny on the sleeve and I dont think he's a fan.But Chaka Khan's vocals on Robot Man and Julia are stunning. U2 - Songs of Innocence. Overshadowed by the iTunes delivery fiasco, but has some heartfelt songs.p Pink Floyd - The Final Cut. Not the CD issue with "When the tigers broke free" shoehorned into side one badly. But the rest of the album isn't bad, and The Gunner's Dream is one of those songs I wish I could write. -
Welcome aboard! Sounds like you need to trawl the market place to see who sold what to who and when, and post in the Wanted section. While you're here, join in the chat, we're all friendly.

Circling back to bass after too long, feels like home!
Richard R replied to Schultzee's topic in Introductions
Welcome aboard! It's funny what instruments you just click with, or not, and can't really explain why. Glad you like the Mikro, they have a great reputation. -

Welcome aboard! I started same age as you, and three years on am now tolerable, at least at playing the bass. I always recommend StudyBass.com. It's not shouty, is completely free, and makes sure you understand the basics, like how not to wreck your back and wrists, tuning and setup, and theory. Scotts Bass Lessons is excellent value for money as well, at about Β£80 per year I've kept my subscription running. He is a bit enthusiastic, so get going first, then take the free trial in a couple of months. After that, play what you like, learn to play the bass you have and stay away from the marketplace! π

"Rusty Worship for The Eternal Lord"- sounds like an album from Rend Collective π That apart, it will be great. It is very strange with no congregation singing, but live worship is still the best and you should enjoy it. I'm hoping to play in a fortnight π€
