  1. This could also be the first greeting thread to get locked for descending into Iniquity!

    Hello!

Welcome aboard! Usually a good selection of P-basses in the marketplace, at all sorts of prices!
  3. Welcome aboard! As @Newfoundfreedom says, post in the wanted section and keep an eye on the market place. Stick around though, there's lots of stuff here to interest and amuse you.
  4. P.s. other threads are available
  5. Welcome aboard @Ebenue. From someone who wasn't press-ganged by @Frank Blank and the rest of the WCPS.
  6. Or the landlord books and pays you, and puts the payment through the expenses system. But it is what it is, and once you're set up it should all be workable. Maybe they had to introduce it because too many landlords were fiddling the books? Who knows?
  7. This shows exactly why repurposing an internal expenses system to pay suppliers is a bad idea. If you imagine it as an employee request to go to a conference followed by claiming the expenses associated with the trip, then the process and the naming convention makes sense. It's still not nice software, but that's what it's designed for. Hopefully if you have regular gigs with the same pub it will become straightforward.
  8. While @Frank Blankand @Richmake very valid points about the factors influencing NpP, I maintain my stance that it cannot be predicted theoretically in advance. The idea is turtlely misguided.
  9. Had the day off today and had time to go to GuitarGuitar in Brum and play their 4003s/5. Interesting... Took a lot of faffing to get the sound I wanted, and completely different to play than mine, but I rather liked it. Not enough to spend over £2k mind you!
  10. For any thread in Basschat there is a number NpP, which cannot be determined in advance or theoretically, but only by observation of the thread. It is the number of pages at which the thread spontaneously degenerates into a collection of dreadful puns. Some threads never degenerate, or have not yet done so, and have NpP=0. This thread has NpP=2.
  11. That's job satisfaction right there.
  12. Welcome aboard! Yep, nice bass. Learn to play the instrument you have, and in a year or so you will have an idea of what else you might like to try. For example I assumed I would prefer narrow necks, but the bass I play is nicknamed "Queen Elizabeth" as you could land an aircraft on the fretboard.
  13. Welcome back!
  14. Welcome aboard!
  15. I've enjoyed this thread, @JapanAxe. I don't really understand the implications of the in-and-outs, but it's been interesting. And if I ever do need to understand valve amplifiers, I know who to ask.
  16. What is it? Is there an NBD post? My daughter says the fretboard looks like the swirl cakes she makes for friends' birthdays, but I assume it isn't chocolate and vanilla?
  17. My apologies! I blame the tiny profile pics and my aging eyes. The only vote was in favour, so I guess you're in with 100% of the vote. Unless @bassfanoverrules.

    Welcome aboard!
  19. Blast! Not fast enough!
  20. Luke Jackson is supporting Fairport on their current tour (sadly interrupted for a week as they have covid in the tour party). This is the tale of a young Canterbury farmer offering the object of his affection a lift home.
  21. In this case replace the volume knob with an on-off rotary switch though, so it looks the same and is easy to put back. And get an amp that goes up to 1/-.
  22. I'm wondering if we should allow this one. 🤔 It was an altruistic purchase, it's not bass-related and it's not in the signal chain (especially if @lozkerrcan't play it). Do we let him back in?
  23. I thoroughly enjoy this thread. More for the torture of logic and reasoning than anything else 🤣
