Shire replied to spongebob's topic in Bass Guitars
I got a nice sunburst one off ebay last week -
The head is actually just balanced on the speakers as it is physically bigger.
I have the opposite problem:
Nice basses & I too have an Orange Terror head and Ampeg cabs. All good fun At the risk of exposing you as a pit dweller, tis nearly an hour into the afternoon at the time of your post!
It wasn't when I started writing it I got side tracked!

After the following amps and cabs, I've ended up with something I'm really happy with: Peavy TNT 150 Ashdown MAG 300 2x10 combo, then added the 1x15 cab Ashdown ABM 300 Mini 48 and 115 cabs Ampeg SVT 450H head and SVT 410HLF cab (sold the head and now I use:) And the size of the head in comparison to the amp lol: Effects from left to right: Boss PH-1R Phaser (Quite rare I believe) Boss DS-1 Distortion MXR Bass Fuzz EXH Bass Metaphors Boss TU-12 Tuner I'm pretty happy with my gear now. Shame I'm snowed it at my girlfriends house or that Precision would be getting a good seeing to Off to build snowmen, enjoy!

Morning guys/girls, thought I would do the obligatory "Gear Porn" thread now I've been on here for a while! Sorry for the poor iPhone pics! Been playing for 3 years now but have(had) been a guitarist for easily 10 years before I got asked to fill in at a friends band practice until they found a bass player....Well, a few years later and gigs all over the place I'm still there and have only picked up a 6 string a couple of times since I started with a Squier VMJ but the option to buy a Musicman Sterling from the forum popped up, I spoke to Ped (Me old chumley since we were about 6ish?) and he said go for it! So I sold the Squier and bought this: And then a couple of days ago, I picked up a Highway 1 Precision locally from eBay: As you can see, its the first the they released ("1" as opposed the current "one") so it doesn't have the badass bridge. I love the finish but I thibk the slightly chunkier neck is going to take some getting used to. She also needs a good setup too

If you live anywhere near Oxford you're welcome to try mine

The neck of my Sterling is only slightly wider than a Jazz neck. Very nice to play. From their site: Neck Width: 1-1/2" (38.1 mm) at nut, 2-1/2" (63.5 mm) at last fret Weight: 9 lbs (4.08 kg) - varies slightly http://www.music-man.com/instruments/basses/sterling.html

A very rare Squier JV Series Precision on eBay

Lovely bass, there is a Jazz on eBay at the moment too: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1984-Vintage-Fender-...=item35ae3c6978 -
Thanks for the ideas so far folks. I got one of these last year, have used it heavily and love it. I find it a touch on the noisey side, but pretty darn good, and great for travelling with. This however is genius! Didn't know they did a cab to go with it. Definitely on the list!
I agree, can get a bit noisy but I just keep the gain down. The cab is on my list too

Vox Bass Amplug? http://www.voxamps.com/amplug/ With matching cab? http://www.voxamps.com/us/amplug/amplugcabinet/

I live in Oxford which is a bit further but you're more than welcome to have a blast on mine
-
Me too please, good idea btw
-
I was considering both options you mentioned but in the end went for the Vox Amplug: http://www.voxamps.com/amplug/

I think ours has a Peavey TNT 150 which will cost you an extra tenner to use so I always take my own amp
am I being diddled by my local shop?!
Think you're getting shafted! You do get the occasional one without a hat that some pikey has nicked but they should all have them, some are a lot more 'creative' than others
Thank god you didn't display a photo of you wearing one on your 'other head'!
I hope she doesn't read this or it might give her ideas

My girlfriend had this novel idea to use the hats that you get on the innocent smoothies (every smoothie bought donates 25p to the Age UK charity) to keep my tuning pegs warm now the winter is setting in. Not very macho but I found it amusing and thought I'd share

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it interest free too? A lot of music shops are doing this now, I think its a government backed scheme to encourage more people to play music. More info: http://www.takeitaway.org.uk/
