*SOLD* For Sale: Vintage 1971 Fender Musicmaster Bass *SOLD* Good morning ladies and gents For sale is my original 1971 Fender Musicmaster. I've had this bass a while (originally purchased from here actually) and modified it slightly to suit. I am only selling because I just don't play her anymore and I really want to see her go to a new home It is being sold with its original pickguard, pickup (originally from a late 60's strat I believe) pots wiring etc (everything to make it original) I did however buy a new black pickguard for her to mount the new pickup (Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound for Single Coil P-Bass® SCPB-3), wiring and pots so that I could make it original just by swapping the loaded pickguards back over. All of the above is included in the sale. There is one thing to note, the new pickguard (black) has the holes drilled slightly off center with the holes on the body of the bass. I didn't want to modify either so instead, I have only used half of the screws (the ones that line up with the body). She is currently strung with flats but I will also include the original strings (they might be the original string from when it was made but I can't be sure) The bass is obviously quite old but still solid as a rock. As you can see from the pics it has got some natural relicing Guts: Original Pickguard, pickup and wiring: On the bass: New black pickguard, pickup and wiring: I'm after £350 for this bass. I live in Oxford so anyone who wants to come and try it please feel free to come and have a play. If I have to post it, I will do so with the neck off wrapped safely in a strong box Please ask for a postage quote but imagine it'll be around £20 Any questions please feel free to fire away Cheers, and enjoy the sunshine! Matt

Can you suggest a replacement 8" Speaker for Ashdown Mini 48?
Shire replied to Shire's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thanks for the info guys, I'll drop them an email now -
Good afternoon ladies and gents I've had a little rattling coming from my cab, An Ashdown mini 48 for a while so I took it apart and noticed one of the four 8" speakers is rattling, IT appears to be knackered so I need a replacement. This is the cab: http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.as...egacy&ID=61 Like I said, its an 8" speaker at 8 ohms so would I be ok to just get any replacement of that spec? The cab is rated at 600w so does the speaker need to be the same or 150w because there is 4 of them? Sorry, I'm a bit of a technical n00b! Any suggestions please fire away, cheaper is better and I'm not worried about it not being blue, just don't tell me I need to replace 4! I also use the mini 115 cab with the above cab if that makes a difference through an ABM 500 head (but I can hear a tiny terror beckining me! ) Cheers, Matt

I work in Chippy and live in Oxford. I let Ped do all my bass tweaking for me but as for a full setup I can't help but I'd be interested to know if you find anywhere decent that you could recommend in the future

Ohhh I like the look of the "Little Bastard Head"
-
Hi, Ped and myself are from Oxford too, not a bad little city unless you live in the ghetto like Ped
-
The mini 48 cab is 600w and the mini 115 is 300w (as you pointed out) see if you can treat yourself to both. I have the pair and love them. Great size but the 48 is significantly heavier

I'm pretty sure Ped is driving from his ghetto pad in Oxford because he offered me a lift but I can't go. Give him a shout
I think you're looking at the wrong cabs - the new Bassman TV stuff looks like this: The cabs you can see in the background are Fender's existing range.
I have the guitar version of this. Its 5w All Valve. Nice little practice amp. Ped and I have mucked about by playing bass through it and its not too bad. Might have to get the matching bass version now though!
Matt came over tonight and picked up my Purple Musicman Sterling. Great guy, didn't even seem too bothered that it had bright pink strings! It's a pleasure to be leaving him his first feedback here on the forum.
Cheers Rob, was nice to meet you too. The bass made it home ok and is now sitting proud on the only stand I have (well, actually it belongs to Ped!) I hope you don't miss her too much but you have other sterlings to play with! Cheers, Matt

For Sale Squier Vintage Modified Bass This is an excellent bass for the money. I wish I could keep this bass but I need to sell it to help fund buying a sterling Its in excellent condition but I'll let the pics do the talking: If anyone would like any more pics just let me know and I'll get them up Its completely standard and comes with the original strings. Its less than a year old too if that helps? There are a couple of very tiny knocks on the headstock but they're so small you'd have to be really looking for them to see them. This bass looks and feels like it should cost 3 or 4 times the price, its so well put together for a budget bass. Any questions feel free to fire away! I'm looking for £165 collected from Oxford Thanks for looking
Great stuff, the black pg works well. There maybe a small pang of regret in selling, but the proceeds contributed to something that will (eventually) make it all worthwhile
Yeah I know the feeling. Although I hope to get something new (not necessarily better) I think I'll keep the Musicmaster and sell the Jazz, there's just something about it
Love the look of your Musicmaster... I played one years ago and it was great!
Thanks Its a keeper for sure. The flats on it make it sound really fat
+1! Epic bass, definately part of my dream collection!
Cheers, its yours for £1k
Hi Matt, how's the Musicmaster sound with the SD?
Hey Steve, the SD makes it put out much more volume and punch, a really good upgrade and I'm glad I did it. I also swapped the pickguard for a black one from WD just for a change. Still got all the original wiring that came with it too so I can restore her to her former glory if I ever sell it You missing her yet?
