went to see Black Water County at the Bodega in Nottingham on Saturday, packed small venue with mosh pit, very lively and enjoyable, all of a sudden a drum stick hit me in the face and broke my glasses 😡, which took the shine off the evening somewhat

one of my Trace amps thumps the other doesn't, I always assumed it was some sort of capacitor fault, it's never damaged the speaker

similar thread here, Rumbles are good if a little bulky

Dealing with feedback with an uncompromising drummer
PaulWarning replied to geoham's topic in General Discussion
We have a similar problem, not the feedback, but being too loud in a small pub gig, I have raised the subject and asked if he could play quieter, but he just says he enjoys bashing hell out of the kit (he regularly trashes his 300 quid cymbals and at the end of gigs it's like a wood yard round his feet), in all other respects he's an ideal band member, decent drummers who don't cause problems within the band don't grow on trees so we just accept it -

I've posted this before, always makes me smile -
Johnnie Walker's last radio show now on BBC R2
PaulWarning replied to casapete's topic in General Discussion
my mistakes I was thinking of Richard Skinner who like you say came a little bit later, anyway Whispering Bob didn't like punk, after all punk was invented as an antidote for the over indulgence of Prog Rock and 20minute guitar and drum solo's -

well Sid certainly didn't help, the aborted attack, which was inexcusable but typical Sid, was probably because Bob was resisting having Punk bands on the Old Grey Whistle Test, which is why he got replaced by Richard Williams -

should bands carry on when there's only one original member?
PaulWarning replied to PaulWarning's topic in General Discussion
I remember going to see 'The Vibrators' about 35 years ago with Eddie the only original member, they'd just bought out a new album and played all the songs off it, no original Vibrators songs, with the crowd getting restless the new singer said "Can't you see this is a completely different band?" well yes, but maybe you should have had a completely different name then, call yourselves the Vibrators and we're going to expect well known Vibrators songs -

in some ways it's better to see a full tribute, at least they usually a bity younger than the original members like @NancyJohnsonI saw Brian Connelly towards the end, it was rather sad, he was obviously not in a good way -

I think most folk are happy to go and hear songs they love, played well, it doesn't really matter how many original members there are -
Probably a stupid question but did you join them together to search for a free channel?

on the subject of wireless systems, are they all 'line of sight', as I stated earlier the one problem I've found with my Boss WL 20 is it cuts out if something gets in the way, but are they all like that?
-
wonder what the Behringer's like? https://www.andertons.co.uk/behringer-airplay-guitar-ulg10-24ghz-guitar-wireless-system/
-
I've often wonder this, how can you get a stereo output from a mono input? I often wondered about the point stereo in ears as well, maybe I'm missing something

Had various Behringer products, I use a UM2 audio interface to play my bass though my laptop, play along to tracks via Audacity and connect my laptop to my HiFi and headphones, you can use it to record 2 channels at once as well, good solid piece of kit, our singer also uses a MA400 to give him his own monitoring channel for his in ears, our mixer amp only has one monitoring channel, does the job brilliantly. I have had a BDI21 but didn't really use it, prefer my zoom B1on, thought the gain knob was a bit on or off, and an ADI21 which again I don't use because my electro acoustic has it's own EQ, but, again solid bits of kit a ridiculously low price

I've used a Boss WL-20 for a few years now I like the fact that the transmitter plugs straight into the bass, no faffing around with a cable to the transmitter when it is mounted separately, there's a right angled adapter supplied so it doesn't stick out on, say, a P bass. Recharging both units is done with a USB charger, like a phone. The only downside I found is it is line of sight so if something gets in the way it cuts out

opps, silly me, didn't notice it was on the DB forum 😒

just got back from seeing the Long Ryders at the Metronome in Nottingham, lovely venue holds about 400 probably half full, (it was a Monday night), knew every song, it always helps, great sound, although the bass could have done with being a touch louder, I would say that wouldn't I?

Trace Elliot - Rescue & Restore (and bargain finds)
PaulWarning replied to SimonK's topic in Amps and Cabs
as I said earlier I've been gigging with a series 5 Trace amp for years with no problems at all, but I do take a backup just in case, but I would do that anyway regardless of what amp I was using -
having my bass low, I spend a lot of time with my thumb rapped around the neck to damp the E string, I don't actually think about where my thumb is edit, oh yeah I play with a pick another edit, I just played some songs, my thumb is never behind the neck, always on top

I had a 4 x10 given me by @kev b, because it was so heavy, it was too heavy for me as well, so I sold it for about £60 and split the money with him, the bloke who bought it carried it out of the door with one hand! I did feel a whim 😂, like you say, they do sound good -

I've used a couple of TE heads for years now, a series 5 GP12 and an SMX GP12 as back up, which did need a new set of output MOSFETS a few years ago, I did pay about £130 for each of them, because they are the fan less 200 watt ones they're not too heavy at 13 KG, plenty loud enough, I did have a 4 x 12 cab and a 1 x 15 cab but they are just too damned heavy, which is why they're so cheap, so use neo cabs now, I am perfectly happy with this set up, old TE amps are quality but the ones with fans do start to get a bit heavy -
could be a trans woman, another box ticked
